Frida recorded this with Benny Andersson for her 1971 début album but it was left unreleased. With the help of our generous friend David, we're pleased to bring this to you - completely free of the extortionate charges made by 'bootleggers'. To preserve the original sound, we haven't altered the recording in any way. We hope that it will be commercially released in the future.

Wow Frida. I finally found someone who can sing Beatles. Figures it is you. Beatles and ABBA the two best things to happen in the 20th century music. Love you, sweet Frida. Amazing
ABBA's recording engineer is Michael B Tretow. In an interview he was asked about Frida's vocal instrument. He called her voice "hi-fi" (high-fidelity). That is one heck of a compliment.

When they re-released Frida's album from 1971 for 'Record Day' last year (aka: 2017), I wish they also released in on CD with this song, and other rarities from this time, on it as bonus tracks 💖 Oh well... we're very lucky to hear this now after all those years 😊🖒

Ever since I first read about this unreleased track in ABBA The Complete Recording Sessions some 20 years ago, I used to wonder how this track sounded with Frida's voice. A shame it never got added to any of her later reissues. Would love to know how this song was unearthed.

Gary J. Paul McCartney said he hated Phil Spector's orchestra overdubs, particularly the harp on his TLAWR. Paul wrote to Beatles manager and demanded that Phil
remove the overdubs. Paul was powerless. Phil won the battle.
After the Beatles, Paul played Phil's version for 25 years. So I guess Paul liked the overdubs after all.

This was part of 'Frida' recording sessions.. Anni-Frid Lyngstad's 'Frida' album was released in 1971. The album is in Swedish. She has recorded and released major songs by The Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, 10CC, David Bowie, Gary Puckett, etc., etc.... all in the Swedish language. Some under EMI Sweden. Some under Polar.
Anni-Frid Lyngstad was under contract with EMI Sweden (1967-1972).
Before that she was an indie artist 1958-1967, live stage singer/performer.
Before that, she was discovered in grade school. Swept all the talent hunts. Took the stage at age 10. Turned pro at age 13, 1958, when was "legal" to perform.
During the ABBA years she had a unique contract. ABBA of course was the flagship talent under Polar -- but Frida also had a deal for a solo album under Polar while ABBA was active. She recorded that album in 1974/75. The album was called 'Frida Ensam' (Frida Alone). All Swedish language album.

No english version. Frida covered lots of iconic British & American, Italian, etc.... songs in Swedish.

Her mother (Synni Lyngstad) died of kidney failure in 1947 at age 21. Her father was Alfred Haase (1919-2009), a German sergeant stationed in Norway during the Second World War. He apparently wooed her with a sack of potatoes, which were desired and hard to come by in Norway during the War. Also, some time after Synni died, Alfred went back to Germany while Frida (then known as Anni-Frid) was under the care of Arntine (her grandmother). Shortly before Synni’s death, it was decided that the family would move to Sweden, since back in Norway Frida was being ousted and shunned for being the daughter of a Nazi soldier. It was thought that he had died during the occupation, but he was found to be alive working as a pastry cook back in Germany. He and Frida reunited at her villa in Sweden in the late 1970s, accompanied with Benny Andersson, her then husband. She slowly learned the German language during the time they were reunited. She was quoted as saying that she couldn’t love him the way she would have if he were there for her upbringing. Still, I think it’s nice that she was able to see her father whom everyone thought had died.

It's real. She was with EMI at the time. 1967-1972. Somebody found this demo and decided to release it on social media in a hidden corner, where it found it's home.

I can understand why it was never released.
She is a much more refined vocalist than Paul. Technically perfect and beautiful vocal.
Paul McCartney are friends with Frida & Benny. It was never meant for release. This is just a demo.
This was recorded in 1971. Paul was still seething at Phil Spector over this song and the whole 'Let it Be' fiasco era. Paul got over ruled by management & Phil.
Out of respect, this song was not put on 'Frida' (71). It remained a demo recording.
She also recorded lots of others that were not make her 'Frida' album in 1971. Many were included later on a special EMI Sweden album release 'Frida 1967-1972'. It has about 30-35 tracks, many are live performances, if which Frida was known. She did lots of TV, Radio and stage gigs. She also appeared on radio shows with Benny on piano & Bjorn on guitar with Frida, vocals.
1958-1967: indie artist -- too include : Anni-Frid Four/Anni-Frid & Gunner Trio.
@@danbike9 This is not actually a "demo", it's a proper recording (you don't need a string arrangement for a demo). And it was meant for release, as it was recorded during the sessions of her first solo album during the EMI years (1971). For some reason, it was not included on the final album. Other 2 or 3 songs recording during the same sessions had the same fate.

Who owns this track? EMI? I assume EMI or whatever record label has EMI legacy rights.

Nobody seems to know anything about this track. It certainly is gorgeous. Frida has serious skills.
All of Frida's other recordings with EMI seem to have been released over the decades. But this track is half a century+ old and no official release.
A true demo version with too little in the beginning and too much when the orchestra enters.

No connection? The song was written for her and about her. Her whole heart was in it. Her broken heart began to mend with help from this song. It is interesting to me how two people can hear the total opposite in a song. She sang it as a wounded soul, which she was. Tragedy plagued her and now she was starting to rise.
