Aer Arann Tribute 2012 - Goodbye Aer Arann Regional becoming Aer Lingus Regional

- It has been announced that on the 25th March 2012 all Aer Arann Regional services will be re-branded into Aer Lingus Regional operations. This will mean an end to the Aer Arann brand and RE flight numbers. Aer Arann will still exist but operating this franchise rather than under it's own brand, they will still fly the aircraft and employ people and importantly will still be flying.
Aer Arann has undergone huge changes in the past year under immensely challenging times for the aviation industry. With the economic turmoil in Ireland, and globally, the introduction of huge hikes in APD in the UK, the loss of PSO routes in Ireland. Hopefully this new venture (similar to the way in which Scotland's regional airline Loganair operates) will mean stability and growth for Aer Arann and it's people moving forward.
It will be a sad day for me to see Aer Arann brand disappear, I've supported them a lot over the past few years, and the loss of any livery (despite how bland it became recently) makes aircraft spotting that bit less interesting, however I hope this 'tribute' video shows a fraction of the footage I've gathered of Aer Arann over the years. Stick with it to the very end to see how the brand will be displayed in future.
Good luck to the people of Aer Arann, thank you for the many great trips to Galway Airport and others.

@airaction2257 Firstly I hope you have a really good time in Manchester it's a great place to visit for aircraft spotting. Secondly thanks for your comment on my Aer Arann video I'm glad you liked it. The good news is this is a partnership between Aer Arann & Lingus so it's not a takeover just a paint scheme change and closer cooperation - a bit like Loganair and their ops for Flybe. Another great video,like you say it's sad to see smaller airlines swallowed up by the big guys but if it keeps jobs in the aviation industry going thats good,the fact that it says operated by AerArran still keeps the name alive & i wish all flight crews the best for the future,keep these videos coming i love to watch,now it's over to manchester on thursday for some spotting & filming!!

Hi there I finally got around to your message, once again I am sorry for the delay in responding, it's literally because i've been so busy. I do appreciate all comments a lot. I'm really pleased you enjoyed my #AerArann tribute video and you are right Aer Arann are still flying just with a different colourscheme on the aircraft. I believe they will still announce on the aircraft "Aer Lingus Regional operated by Aer Arann" and use "Arann callsign" as all ops on their Op Certificate. Thank again.

It is sad in one way but should be good for the long term future of Aer Arann. Lets hope over time that they will begin to grow again.

No i've never worked for Aer Arann but I was captivated by them a few years ago, I love flying on the ATR, absolutely made up to be flying into airports like Galway and Waterford as they were small and uncongested and at the heart of the place I wanted to visit. I've nearly always had a pleasant experience and I love the idea of the smaller guys fighting their way up. Indeed it's sad the brand will be going.
That's not a bad idea although it would be a lot of work it could be something to consider. I think I need to get a new PC before embarking upon anything like this though. It's painful, it wouldn't boot up tonight poor thing is overloaded... mostly with Aer Arann videos to be fair LOL! thanks for watching :-)

Thanks very much. The map of Irish routes looks very sad compared with a few years ago due to the PSO's going. I know Ireland has an awful lot of financial problems but some of the routes are quite remote. Still good news is Aer Arann are still operating just in a similar way to Loganair in Scotland, and they've been flying for 50 years. I'm glad you name still adornes an ATR. I wonder if they'd consider calling one "Top Banana" and putting my chimp logo on the nose I am a big fan afterall LOL!

Don't feel too bad though, the good news is that Aer Arann will still be flying the aircraft and employing the friendly and professional staff. With the very real challenges in the aviation sector Aer Arann have had to change a lot but this step will be good for both airlines and especially for people at Aer Arann. Great Video, Aer Arann still operate the aircraft but under the name of Aer lingus Regional. The reason some planes have not been painted in Aer Lingus Regional livery is because the entire fleet is being upgraded to ATR- 72 600's in 2013 and it was seen as a waste of money. Again Great video and I really enjoy all your work.

Hello Simon Dunkan thank you for watching my @AerArann video and for your comment too. I didn't think the Manchester - Kerry flights were still operating. All aircraft and crew are Aer Arann just that there's only one aircraft left with Aer Arann livery, that's EI-EHH all the rest carry Aer Lingus Regional titles now. Thanks again for your comment.

There still hasn't been an official announcement as to when new aircraft are to be delivered, but you are correct to point out that Aer Arann still exists as the company owning some of the aircraft / or leasing them &crew work for Aer Arann. I used to like the Aer Arann brand and their regional services. A lot of that has gone now but EIR seems to be paying off for them
Hi thanks for watching my #AerArann video. Although the liveries are changing, Aer Arann still owns and operates the aircraft. Aer Lingus regional is a brand, it's not an airline as such. The airline is Aer Arann.. but I think it's a shame that there will be less diversity in the airline liveries generally. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it, and I appreciate your thoughts.

A very sad day for me too aer arann were one of my favourite airlines too but never flew with them though i would make a Tribute video but sadly i only have ever made one clip of aer arann

brilliant video you have there you reminding me how I felt when Flyglobespan went was a real shame but least Aer Arran still flying:P I got my First experince with an ATR last week on route Edinburgh - Dublin - Edinburgh reg EI-REH going to Dub and back to EDI was EI-SLL brilliant aircraft.
My question is what callsign will they use Shamroack (EI) ??

@kjm330kjm Hello kjm330kjm, I agree with you it's a shame on one hand that the #AerArann brand will be disappearing but Aer Arann are the ones operating Aer Lingus Regional so hope this creates more certainty, more stability for the employees of Aer Arann and moreover growth in the future.
