  • The final part of my look at the old Norfolk & Suffolk Joint railway line between North Walsham and Cromer. Plus some Cl 37 action.
Also a look at Cromer High, the old GER station.

    great N50%
i've spent many caravan holidays at west and east runton, been under those two side by side fantastic bridges on many occassions over many years walking with different dogs , always admired them. Its sacrilage how those fantastic pieces of infrastructure are swept away and built on,, i bet 99% of those people living and working on the new housing and industrial estates, don't even know the piece of history they are on??? I know progress has to be made but i'm old school,!!!, wish i had a TARDIS, i'd be back in time.
thanks for the extensive reasearch it must have took to share this.
    regards
    Kev

Thank you as always Kev for your comments. It`s always nice to know someone appreciates what I do. The more research I do the more I realize just how much we have lost. But I agree with you, I don`t think a housing estate and supermarket are nearly as interesting as a working station and yard.
      Best wishes

Thank you so much in completing the journey from North Walsham Town Station to Cromer Beach. As you know my grandad a who lived in one of the railway terraced houses in Mundesley and worked on this line had unfortunately passed away earlier this year so from myself I’m so grateful for this video thank you 🙏

Interesting video. If I remember rightly the old engine shed at Cromer Beach was still standing in the 80s.It’s a pity it had to be demolished to accommodate the supermarket.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, lets hope the old station building does not go the same way.

Great video, couple of points, the section from North Walsham to Mundesley closed to passengers in 1964 , you mentioned 1965 , I believe that's final closure for goods traffic. Secondly the Mundesley section to outskirts of cromer closed for all traffic Easter weekend 1953 . Cromer high closed to passengers in 1954 as you stated, but that was not the end as Cromer high station and yard was used to accommodate thousands of track panels and recovered items removed from the former M&GN which closed as a thru route on 28/2/1959 ,demolition trains were in and out of this site for ages, I think track lifting of the high station didn't begin until 1964. Please correct me if you believe ive got something wrong. 😉. Cromer beach site had been derelict for years although the coal office still stood for some years, then somerfield opened its new store on the goods yard in 1991 to become morrisons around 2000.

Thanks for you comments. It is always difficult with these videos to know how much to say before it becomes too long and boring. Some times I say too much and sometimes not enough.
You are correct in all that you say and maybe in this case I should have said more. But I hope you enjoyed what you did see.
