Dragalia lost is a mostly free with to different type of currency, so that you don't have to pay if you want to, and have changed the gacha, by removing a whole category of summonable items, which made me quit the game at first, because I only got 5 star cards, no units or dragon, but got back in it during the FE cross over event, and they give out so much free stuff, like once during a mandatory check upon the game to fix any server problems, they gave away a free five star ticket, which is good.

I actually love the animal crossing membership, it's fairly cheap and a nice touch especially for those who enjoy the game but don't have time. It's the most valuable membership imo, just not the cookie one.
Interesting you say that because at one point in its life, Nintendo made cards for the Yakuza for underground gambling, after gambling was made illegal in Japan.
I wouldn't mind if they just kept that kinda stuff in the mobile realm to make money for the good stuff on consoles, but history shows that when companies go this route, they soon feel pressure to focus on where the money is coming from, and adapt that model across the board...
Clark So far there haven’t been any micro transactions on their recent games. The second they do they’ll lose money and they can’t afford that! That being said, I haven’t played “Mario Kart Tour” and refuse to seeing how much money is going into this! I wasn’t pleased with Dr Mario Worlds live system and here we are again! Cut it out Nintendo! If you can’t make a traditional Mario Kart on iOS and Android make it on the Switch! It would better because we would get Mario Kart 9! This was a terrible idea to begin with!
That's because Cygames is by far one of the best phone devs out there, with a lot of control over Dragalia's direction. Another game of theirs, Granblue Fantasy is still one of the most popular mobile games in Japan more than 6 years after the release, so they absolutely know what they're doing. I mean I'm biased but the game is great imo.

I got pauline and the taxi for free and that is to me realy unfair to all players... I saw some youtubers paying 140 dollars and that was sad. Nintendo Is doing it wrong.

I held my breath wondering if you were going to mention the "cookies" that were added to Animal Crossing Pocket Camp several months after Nintendo realized they weren't making as much money as they thought they would on it, effectively adding *gambling* to a game who's majority playerbase are children. I love Nintendo but their mobile division is greedy af.
Dang those cookies. A single one is about $2 worth of pay currency. Like yeh a company needs to make money but those costs are so badly balanced it’s sickening. A single use of the premium nets which catches what 5 bugs/fish is a dollar.

I loved the Wii! It was so fun, I convinced a lead from customer service job that I was working at to hook my system up to the big screen in the middle of the call center. EVERYONE was getting into it and everyone who played created their own Mii. Bowling, Boxing from Wii Sports....an also Smash Bros Brawl are what we mostly played. Fun like that makes the system great to me!
@@invertbrid That works for f2p moble games, but not for normal online games, even if they are f2p. If the game is unfinished ( and b2p ontop of that) the game WILL die fairly quickly.

I don't do "microtransactions." Won't do it on the Switch, OR my phone. I'll HAPPILY pay for a game. But I want to pay upfront and that be the END of the cost. I cannot stand pay as you go. :\ (Guess who has basically stopped mobile gaming because of this?)
I still play games with freemium games i just dont give in to the micro transactions. For me games on my phone are just short 2 - 5 min spurts of "gaming". When i wanna play ill break out the switch
The only game I do microtransactions with is Fallout Shelter. Which once I spent $30 I stopped and that was enough to allow me to build my Shelter up enough that i dont need to spend anymore. $30 for a game that I still play to this day, that's great. Other than that, I agree.
Me. I feel the same, the last mobile game i played was the marvel future fight. I would prefer they charge the characters and quests upfront, like packs or seasons. Buying those virtual currencies to open loot boxes is a waste of money and time for me.
On point, Josephine. The only "mobile" gaming I do is on dedicated mobile gaming hardware. I'm happy with my 3DS! I just dropped 80 bucks for both Pokemon Y and Pokemon Omega Ruby over the past month, and I'd gladly continue to support quality games you buy only once.
Are you not aware of how easy it is to find the rom for a ds/gameboy game? If I wanted to, I could go download and play mario kart ds on my phone within a single minute. The same goes for other pokemon games.

They were great in New leaf where you would just spend the coins you gain by walking around when your 3DS is in standby but they were definitely scummy in the mobile game.

Dragalia Lost is actually fantastic and I’ve never felt the need to spend a dime on it. If they could follow a similar model with their other mobile games it would do them wonders

Playing Mario Kart for a few days now and I’m actually having fun and I don’t feel the need to buy anything. I just see it as a free Mario Kart and that’s it.

I love the art style and gameplay in Dragalia Lost. I have yet to spend any money since launch day and the game has been REALLY generous with the pulls. They’re doing a crossover with Megaman in November and I can’t wait. It really leaves the responsibility to the player and the majority either don’t mind spending money or are desperate to get a specific character.
I second this. Dragalia's developers are incredibly generous to the playerbase. Even if there hasn't been any glitches or prolonged maintenance, it's still "Thanks for playing, have 10 summons," "Merry Christmas, here's 20 summons," "Happy New Years, here's 60 summons," "Happy Anniversary, here's 120 summons," and it's not like that's an insignificant amount either with a base 4% pull rate across the 5-star pool. One thing about most gachas is that they're blatantly set up to make you feel like you're behind, meanwhile Dragalia gives you a random 5-star when you start up the game, no questions asked. You don't need to pull on the gacha in order to succeed, and I've never felt pressured to spend money, but I have because I want to show support for how CyGames runs things. Best Devs ^u^
@@skipperkippz4564 And also, DL doesn't punish you for only pulling one of the 5-star adventurers, like other games where you really need 5 Gogetas or whatever to unlock 100% of their potential. The Dragons reward you for getting extra, but there are also other methods for raising their caps.
Totally agree! Been a player since day one as well and out of all the other Gacha games I've played in the past (and present), this is by far the most generous game there is, totally F2P friendly!

Wood did Dragalia so dirty in this video lol. He says it's boring and uninspired (while admitting he hasn't played it), but it's the closest thing I've found to a bite-sized MMO experience. Honestly I would much rather pay a flat price for the exact characters I want instead of the gacha system, but Nintendo and Cygames have been extremely generous with giving away free gacha pulls and although I've spent money on it I think the game is F2P friendly for anyone who doesn't insist on having all the characters in their first month.

The part about Dragalia Lost honestly needs some more research, you could have asked someone who actually plays the game or something The game really isn't bland, basically it's a game where you collect and enhance characters whom you use to fight bosses with other players playing co-op and then read its nice story whenever a new chapter or a new event comes out (which is very often) We even got a Collab event with Fire Emblem earlier this year which gave everyone who played it a free FE character and we're getting a Megaman Collab in a few months Yes you can spend money to get gems to summon characters, but you really don't have too. The game is extremely f2p friendly and always throws free gems and characters at your face. Saying it's pay2win would just be crazy, you can absolutely spend nothing and be able to tackle on end-game content alongside spending players If anyone is looking for a nice f2p friendly gacha game I highly recommend this one

Dragalia is my favorite mobile game right now, and before that I used to play a lot of Brave Exvius, spent like $100 over the course of a year and still didn't enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed playing Dragalia. They make it so so so easy to get everything you need without spending money that it's kinda crazy. In fact, I didn't even undertsand what diamantium was till 6 months into playing the game (maybe I'm just dumb, probably). I was so surprised that so many events just gave you the central character as long as you played it enough (forged friendship). I've literally never felt like I needed to spend money on this game, and I honestly even if I don't get the character from the event, I often end up getting them later from normal, single summons.

In one single year, you could've bought Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the money spent on the Gold Pass. With the money spent over a few months, you could've bought a Nintendo Switch FOR the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game and been able to play other great titles. It just proves normal, average, every day people just don't care and love mobile pay 2 win gambling machines.

Dragalia lost is pretty fun. I liked the story(albeit cliched), it's extremely generous(I got Gala Mym about as much as.. well.. 5 to 10 tenfold summons.) Sure it has mocrotransactions, but with how the rates can be, it isn't like it's coercing you to buy them (except for the Platinum summons... I'm a little angry about that)
The same people that say I dont need a nintendo switch, I've got my cellphone to play games are the same that spend 100 to 200 bucks in microtransactions a month and would be able to buy a switch in a couple of months 🤣🤣🤣

Why do they even feel the need to make mobile games at all? I mean I know there's a bigger market obviously. But it seems like they could just put more focus on the console games to satisfy the fans they already have. Isn't that enough? I guess greed can tempt even the most honorable and honest people. Man, I wish more people played Dragalia Lost. It's actually one of the best mobile games I've played, and one of the most generous and F2P friendly too.
I love the fire emblem heroes game a lot, it’s getting all your favorite characters. But you can’t always get anyone you wish to have. Sometimes you have to wait 3 days until you can summon once if you don’t want to spend money on the game. The game isn’t a perfect Fire Emblem game but it is enjoyable
I'll come out and defend Dragalia Lost. According to the Dragalia Digest, if you play right now during the Anniversary, you are getting 5000 Wyrmite (around $80 USD worth) on your first day in the game. This is not even including the fact that they make good quality events that cycle frequently. On top of that there are the High Dragons which not only require a good amount of stats that you build up over time but also a lot of knowledge about the fights themselves.
What I do is play until I get bored or upgrade until I can't raise the characters bc I need items THEN I wait till the events go on, login in , get free stuff, stack, stop playinf repeat . I do know people that pay for it though and I think it's dumb because if you grind for wyrmite in the game you do eventually characters /dragons you want

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp also added loot boxes by the way. They're called fortune cookies and you can randomly get one out of ten furniture/clothing items per cookie and they release like a new cookie every or every other week. You can usually get one of each for free by completing certain missions but if you want all of them you're gonna have to pay big time.
I appreciate that even though you buy a crazy amount of Nintendo stuff and are an extreme influence on other people and an extreme supporter, you aren't backing down from calling it like it is when Nintendo makes a mistake
Shout out to Dragalia Lost for the 1 Year Anniversary, everything from the music, characters, dragons, and co-op, it’s all just fun. Not pay2win what so ever. Sure you CAN pay to progress but doesn’t pressure you what so ever. I’ve been playing it for a year and I’ve been having so much fun with this event they have going on right now. And that’s another thing, there’s like an event every week or 2 so the game is always just throwing stuff at you.

Well, I have to get a new phone to play it among other f2p games so in my mind it is p2w...hmmph! Jk, honestly, my phone sucks and can't handle many of the games I want to play. But it does make me really happy to know people are enjoying these games and are still being able to be f2p months later.
I'm a bit surprised with all the research you attempted to put into this video, that you didn't go a bit further. Dragalia Lost and even Fire Emblem Heroes are pretty damn generous giving out the premium currency for free. I've been playing Dragalia Lost for about 2 months now and haven't spent a dime and don't feel the need to, despite it being a gashapon or loot box based game. Fire Emblem Heroes is a bit less generous in my opinion, but still plenty doable with not spending a dime. Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, however, I felt like if I wasn't either buying the speed up tokens or setting timers to play the game all day long, I wasn't making much progress. Which killed me a bit, because I LOVE Animal Crossing but felt like this was just trying to take advantage of me as a fan. It's a bit easy to me to understand why games like Dragalia Lost and Fire Emblem Heroes are successful; despite the gashapon aspect. The games give out premium currency at a decent rate making free to play players happy or more inclined to possibly spend some money to treat themselves or support the game. Just don't get me started on Pokemon Masters and how stingy it is with premium currency and the gashapon rates.... Regardless, keep doing what you're doing. Still love watching your videos. c:
Why are people complaining about timers in Animal Crossing when it literally has loot boxes? Screw the timers, what's greedy is their best stuff behind a gambling mechanic.

Was looking for an feh comment xD but yeah I have yet to spend a single penny on that game but i constantly have 300-400 orbs saved for my favorite characters, (tho i do get very lucky with the summons) Dragalia and Feh are the only game apps I can play without needing to spend a single dollar but still have access to the same characters as everyone else. (F2p or not, albeit not as guaranteed) And unlike khux they’re fun enough to keep grinding for in game currency easily Some of us are just desperate enough to pay more for our favorite characters

I watched this vid while playing dragalia lol. The first year anniversary story event is actually dope. I've only ever sunk 12 bucks into the game out of precedent for the crazy amount of hours of entertainment I get from it.
Before I watch let me say that Fire Emblem Heroes on mobile by Nintendo is pretty good. Has tons of events and free summons and I managed to have few good teams without spending a penny.
Played at release and originally thought they same as you, but rampant powercreep and how fast a 5* becomes pointless made me drop it. Honestly its fun if you don't get angry at any of the nonsense in the PVP parts but I just disliked how stripped back and shallow the game is compared to fire emblem in general (there is an actual mobile game which does strategy grid based right which is called The Alchemist code) and after the 4th or was it 5th Tiki alt the "I am Tiki but EVEN STRONGER" I just noped out.
Well I am not the type that gets angry at this fortunately, but I totally get you. Even if it is stripped from the content if we compare it to other FE games, I still think it is really unfair to put it in same category as Mario Kart tour.
@@mewalex3450 Oh yeah I agree, Fire Emblem is still a decent enough gacha and I can't say I don't miss it because it was really fun for the time I played it in the end I just got frustrated by the powercreep which is a me thing, Mario Kart and Pokemon Masters is a hard pass at release for me unfortunately when I am a massive fan of both franchises played both for a couple hours and dropped em like its hot.
Gotta defend Dragalia; There's no PvP so it can't be Pay2Win. If you don't get a "good" 5☆ rated unit you can just invest in a 3☆ unit and beat most of the respective elemental content. Most likely you'll be getting a free 5☆ adventurer summon ticket down the line if you're just THAT unlucky with a gacha with good summon rates. The only "gatekeeping" in the game is how much you farm for materials to raise your Halidom facilities and craft weapons. Yes, it used to be worse and I believe the spending change was made because a key item (Wyrmprints) would pop up in the summoning pool breaking your pity rate. They removed them from the summoning pool and you can spend "eldwater" to buy that equipment. It's surprisingly easy to get. I just don't think DL is as bad as FEH and ESPECIALLY not as predatory as Pokemon Masters (confused as to why you didn't even speak about that one). Edit: Spelling & Grammar
p2w is at its most egregious when there's pvp involved. that doesn't mean that pve games can't be p2w. If you can get 100% of the power without paying cash into the system it's not pay to win, if it you can't and the only way to reach 100% power level is to pay then its pay to win.
It's so funny, I actually played Dragalia Lost a while back and enjoyed it. XD So yes, I did know what it was. And Pocket Camp is still my jam, it's too cute to hate.
I'd take this video a lot more seriously if you hadn't advertised Raid: Shadow Legends at least twice (I think?). That game is very heavy on microtransactions.
Well he also needs money. And it's not like you will pay anything. He gets money for advertising and you can just ignore it if you don't like the game, so it's a win-win. He's a youtuber. It's not easy for them to make money.
He made a couple sponsored videos for them, can't remember which but I think one of them was that horrible pony riding game 😂 don't get me wrong I understand why, it's just something to consider for future videos/ sponsorship deals

I'm in this funny situation in my life where I'm employed by the mobile games industry yet I'd never do an in-app purchase myself :D It's cool to have you say this stuff out loud cos I keep reminding the higher ups of what ever company it is I work for at the time that people don't like to feel cheated even though it might mean profits in the short-term :D
I wouldn't pay for any app for a phone I also don't care about phone apps all that much my phone isn't all that important to me when it comes to usefulness
16:50 you need to take into considiration the fact that there are 9 1% characters so its $500*9 and thats 4500$ in a world without a 20% buffer (at least) and if you take the full 20% buffer just in case then max it will be *5400$*
having 8 other eggs in my inventory doesn't mess with any ocd over here, I just hatch one at a time, sometimes luck's with me and I get to keep gyms long enough to get the 50 coins, and buy actually useful stuff, like more space for pokemons, I've played that game for 2 years and yet to buy a single coin
hey man dragalia is dope, easily one of the best gachas out there. though gachas arn't for everybody. and mario kart tour seems like a pretty poor gacha game personally.
I´ve started playing Fire Emblem Heroes like 3 or 4 months ago. At that point I stopped playing Pokémon Go, cuz it became too bland and obvious that I can´t reach much when I don´t have a lot of free time and money on my hands. But Fire Emblem let´s me have multiple hours of stuff to do every day, if I´m willing to do it. Sure, you have those loot boxes, but the vague drop rates are pretty fair and you can pull one almost daily. It keeps a great balance and has a lot of story content that is still expanding and different regular events.All of that with a solid gameplay base. So I can see why it´s the top-non-Pokémon-dog in the room :D
elijah gradel That’s false, they actually switched the chances for 3 stars and 4 stars characters. 4 star characters are easier to pull, while 5 stars characters are mostly unchanged but have introduced better banners with better chances for them.
I really think you should give Dragalia Lost a real chance, it's such a good game that it deserves respect. Please make a video telling you more about the game.

Coming from the Era of MMOs 2004 I can tell you being a young me, seeing premium players do in hours what I spend weeks on can leave one feeling empty. It makes you feel inferior, like you're wasting your time. You don't want to quit you genuinely enjoy the game, but your fun is constantly diminished when players who put far less effort out perform you in every way. You begin to envy and lust over items you can't get and will start thinking of doing whatever it took to get such items. I've done it, I've been there. It's the children, they want the children to lie, cheat and steal to compete. It will happen, it does happen, in fact its still happening. They already got a lucky break with fire emblem and pokemon. There's no other IP they can throw under the bus to guarantee an audience other than Mario, Mario Mario Mario they'll keep pumping out those mobile Marios.
Even tho I agree with the points being made, it kinda grinds my gears seeing that basically no research was actually done on Dragalia Lost. This game is extremely F2P friendly, it feels like the dev's find any little excuse in the game, be it errors or glitches, just to give us free stuff. And for the anniversary, which is still going on right now, were basically getting 1 free tenfold summon every day for almost a month I think. This game is quite amazing imo, even tho most credit goes to Cygames, this game genuinely feels like a great quality Nintendo game.
Great video, little critique on your math. A 1% chance repeated 100 times is a 63.4% chance overall, and a 0.3% chance repeated 300 times is a 59.4% chance overall. In order to have a 95% chance overall, you'd have to roll a 1% around 300 times, and a 0.03% around 1000 times.

Dragalia lost is a mostly free with to different type of currency, so that you don't have to pay if you want to, and have changed the gacha, by removing a whole category of summonable items, which made me quit the game at first, because I only got 5 star cards, no units or dragon, but got back in it during the FE cross over event, and they give out so much free stuff, like once during a mandatory check upon the game to fix any server problems, they gave away a free five star ticket, which is good.

Ironic, considering Dragalia Lost is almost universally considered one of the most generous gacha titles EVER.
That's because Cygames is by far one of the best phone devs out there, with a lot of control over Dragalia's direction. Another game of theirs, Granblue Fantasy is still one of the most popular mobile games in Japan more than 6 years after the release, so they absolutely know what they're doing. I mean I'm biased but the game is great imo.

I loved the Wii! It was so fun, I convinced a lead from customer service job that I was working at to hook my system up to the big screen in the middle of the call center. EVERYONE was getting into it and everyone who played created their own Mii. Bowling, Boxing from Wii Sports....an also Smash Bros Brawl are what we mostly played. Fun like that makes the system great to me!

The only game I do microtransactions with is Fallout Shelter. Which once I spent $30 I stopped and that was enough to allow me to build my Shelter up enough that i dont need to spend anymore. $30 for a game that I still play to this day, that's great. Other than that, I agree.
Me. I feel the same, the last mobile game i played was the marvel future fight. I would prefer they charge the characters and quests upfront, like packs or seasons. Buying those virtual currencies to open loot boxes is a waste of money and time for me.

I love the art style and gameplay in Dragalia Lost. I have yet to spend any money since launch day and the game has been REALLY generous with the pulls. They’re doing a crossover with Megaman in November and I can’t wait. It really leaves the responsibility to the player and the majority either don’t mind spending money or are desperate to get a specific character.
I second this. Dragalia's developers are incredibly generous to the playerbase. Even if there hasn't been any glitches or prolonged maintenance, it's still "Thanks for playing, have 10 summons," "Merry Christmas, here's 20 summons," "Happy New Years, here's 60 summons," "Happy Anniversary, here's 120 summons," and it's not like that's an insignificant amount either with a base 4% pull rate across the 5-star pool. One thing about most gachas is that they're blatantly set up to make you feel like you're behind, meanwhile Dragalia gives you a random 5-star when you start up the game, no questions asked. You don't need to pull on the gacha in order to succeed, and I've never felt pressured to spend money, but I have because I want to show support for how CyGames runs things. Best Devs ^u^

Wood did Dragalia so dirty in this video lol. He says it's boring and uninspired (while admitting he hasn't played it), but it's the closest thing I've found to a bite-sized MMO experience. Honestly I would much rather pay a flat price for the exact characters I want instead of the gacha system, but Nintendo and Cygames have been extremely generous with giving away free gacha pulls and although I've spent money on it I think the game is F2P friendly for anyone who doesn't insist on having all the characters in their first month.

Months later they decided to make the gacha system not literal cancer because of the Wyrmprints just flodded the pool so much and the rates for characters being absolutely terrible.
The part about Dragalia Lost honestly needs some more research, you could have asked someone who actually plays the game or something
The game really isn't bland, basically it's a game where you collect and enhance characters whom you use to fight bosses with other players playing co-op and then read its nice story whenever a new chapter or a new event comes out (which is very often)
We even got a Collab event with Fire Emblem earlier this year which gave everyone who played it a free FE character and we're getting a Megaman Collab in a few months
Yes you can spend money to get gems to summon characters, but you really don't have too. The game is extremely f2p friendly and always throws free gems and characters at your face. Saying it's pay2win would just be crazy, you can absolutely spend nothing and be able to tackle on end-game content alongside spending players

Dragalia is my favorite mobile game right now, and before that I used to play a lot of Brave Exvius, spent like $100 over the course of a year and still didn't enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed playing Dragalia. They make it so so so easy to get everything you need without spending money that it's kinda crazy. In fact, I didn't even undertsand what diamantium was till 6 months into playing the game (maybe I'm just dumb, probably). I was so surprised that so many events just gave you the central character as long as you played it enough (forged friendship). I've literally never felt like I needed to spend money on this game, and I honestly even if I don't get the character from the event, I often end up getting them later from normal, single summons.

Dragalia lost is pretty fun. I liked the story(albeit cliched), it's extremely generous(I got Gala Mym about as much as.. well.. 5 to 10 tenfold summons.) I love the fire emblem heroes game a lot, it’s getting all your favorite characters. But you can’t always get anyone you wish to have. Sometimes you have to wait 3 days until you can summon once if you don’t want to spend money on the game. The game isn’t a perfect Fire Emblem game but it is enjoyable

I'll come out and defend Dragalia Lost.
According to the Dragalia Digest, if you play right now during the Anniversary, you are getting 5000 Wyrmite (around $80 USD worth) on your first day in the game.
This is not even including the fact that they make good quality events that cycle frequently. On top of that there are the High Dragons which not only require a good amount of stats that you build up over time but also a lot of knowledge about the fights themselves.
And they're doing a special welcome for new players (something like 20 free tenfold summons).
Also do not forget the 70 free pulls for new players. That is now on Dragalia Lost.
What I do is play until I get bored or upgrade until I can't raise the characters bc I need items THEN I wait till the events go on, login in , get free stuff, stack, stop playinf repeat .
I do know people that pay for it though and I think it's dumb because if you grind for wyrmite in the game you do eventually characters /dragons you want

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp also added loot boxes by the way. They're called fortune cookies and you can randomly get one out of ten furniture/clothing items per cookie and they release like a new cookie every or every other week. You can usually get one of each for free by completing certain missions but if you want all of them you're gonna have to pay big time.
I will say fire emblem heroes is absolutely amazing. and to be honest I never spent a dime one it. probably not everyone experience. but idk.

Shout out to Dragalia Lost for the 1 Year Anniversary, everything from the music, characters, dragons, and co-op, it’s all just fun. Not pay2win what so ever. Sure you CAN pay to progress but doesn’t pressure you what so ever. I’ve been playing it for a year and I’ve been having so much fun with this event they have going on right now. And that’s another thing, there’s like an event every week or 2 so the game is always just throwing stuff at you.

Jk, honestly, my phone sucks and can't handle many of the games I want to play. But it does make me really happy to know people are enjoying these games and are still being able to be f2p months later.
I'm a bit surprised with all the research you attempted to put into this video, that you didn't go a bit further. Dragalia Lost and even Fire Emblem Heroes are pretty damn generous giving out the premium currency for free. I've been playing Dragalia Lost for about 2 months now and haven't spent a dime and don't feel the need to, despite it being a gashapon or loot box based game.
Fire Emblem Heroes is a bit less generous in my opinion, but still plenty doable with not spending a dime.
Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, however, I felt like if I wasn't either buying the speed up tokens or setting timers to play the game all day long, I wasn't making much progress. Which killed me a bit, because I LOVE Animal Crossing but felt like this was just trying to take advantage of me as a fan.
It's a bit easy to me to understand why games like Dragalia Lost and Fire Emblem Heroes are successful; despite the gashapon aspect. The games give out premium currency at a decent rate making free to play players happy or more inclined to possibly spend some money to treat themselves or support the game. Just don't get me started on Pokemon Masters and how stingy it is with premium currency and the gashapon rates....
Regardless, keep doing what you're doing. Still love watching your videos. c:

Was looking for an feh comment xD but yeah I have yet to spend a single penny on that game but i constantly have 300-400 orbs saved for my favorite characters, (tho i do get very lucky with the summons)
Dragalia and Feh are the only game apps I can play without needing to spend a single dollar but still have access to the same characters as everyone else. (F2p or not, albeit not as guaranteed)
And unlike khux they’re fun enough to keep grinding for in game currency easily

I watched this vid while playing dragalia lol. The first year anniversary story event is actually dope. I've only ever sunk 12 bucks into the game out of precedent for the crazy amount of hours of entertainment I get from it.

Before I watch let me say that Fire Emblem Heroes on mobile by Nintendo is pretty good. Has tons of events and free summons and I managed to have few good teams without spending a penny.

Played at release and originally thought they same as you, but rampant powercreep and how fast a 5* becomes pointless made me drop it.
Honestly its fun if you don't get angry at any of the nonsense in the PVP parts but I just disliked how stripped back and shallow the game is compared to fire emblem in general (there is an actual mobile game which does strategy grid based right which is called The Alchemist code) and after the 4th or was it 5th Tiki alt the "I am Tiki but EVEN STRONGER" I just noped out.
Well I am not the type that gets angry at this fortunately, but I totally get you. Even if it is stripped from the content if we compare it to other FE games, I still think it is really unfair to put it in same category as Mario Kart tour.
@@mewalex3450 Oh yeah I agree, Fire Emblem is still a decent enough gacha and I can't say I don't miss it because it was really fun for the time I played it in the end I just got frustrated by the powercreep which is a me thing, Mario Kart and Pokemon Masters is a hard pass at release for me unfortunately when I am a massive fan of both franchises played both for a couple hours and dropped em like its hot.

There's no PvP so it can't be Pay2Win. If you don't get a "good" 5☆ rated unit you can just invest in a 3☆ unit and beat most of the respective elemental content.
Most likely you'll be getting a free 5☆ adventurer summon ticket down the line if you're just THAT unlucky with a gacha with good summon rates.
The only "gatekeeping" in the game is how much you farm for materials to raise your Halidom facilities and craft weapons.
Yes, it used to be worse and I believe the spending change was made because a key item (Wyrmprints) would pop up in the summoning pool breaking your pity rate. They removed them from the summoning pool and you can spend "eldwater" to buy that equipment. It's surprisingly easy to get.
I just don't think DL is as bad as FEH and ESPECIALLY not as predatory as Pokemon Masters (confused as to why you didn't even speak about that one).

p2w is at its most egregious when there's pvp involved. that doesn't mean that pve games can't be p2w. If you can get 100% of the power without paying cash into the system it's not pay to win, if it you can't and the only way to reach 100% power level is to pay then its pay to win.

I'm in this funny situation in my life where I'm employed by the mobile games industry yet I'd never do an in-app purchase myself :D It's cool to have you say this stuff out loud cos I keep reminding the higher ups of what ever company it is I work for at the time that people don't like to feel cheated even though it might mean profits in the short-term :D

so its $500*9 and thats 4500$ in a world without a 20% buffer (at least) and if you take the full 20% buffer just in case then max it will be *5400$*

I´ve started playing Fire Emblem Heroes like 3 or 4 months ago. At that point I stopped playing Pokémon Go, cuz it became too bland and obvious that I can´t reach much when I don´t have a lot of free time and money on my hands. But Fire Emblem let´s me have multiple hours of stuff to do every day, if I´m willing to do it. Sure, you have those loot boxes, but the vague drop rates are pretty fair and you can pull one almost daily. It keeps a great balance and has a lot of story content that is still expanding and different regular events.All of that with a solid gameplay base. So I can see why it´s the top-non-Pokémon-dog in the room :D

elijah gradel That’s false, they actually switched the chances for 3 stars and 4 stars characters. 4 star characters are easier to pull, while 5 stars characters are mostly unchanged but have introduced better banners with better chances for them.
I really think you should give Dragalia Lost a real chance, it's such a good game that it deserves respect. Please make a video telling you more about the game.

Coming from the Era of MMOs 2004 I can tell you being a young me, seeing premium players do in hours what I spend weeks on can leave one feeling empty. It makes you feel inferior, like you're wasting your time. You don't want to quit you genuinely enjoy the game, but your fun is constantly diminished when players who put far less effort out perform you in every way. You begin to envy and lust over items you can't get and will start thinking of doing whatever it took to get such items. I've done it, I've been there. It's the children, they want the children to lie, cheat and steal to compete. It will happen, it does happen, in fact its still happening.
They already got a lucky break with fire emblem and pokemon. There's no other IP they can throw under the bus to guarantee an audience other than Mario, Mario Mario Mario they'll keep pumping out those mobile Marios.

Even tho I agree with the points being made, it kinda grinds my gears seeing that basically no research was actually done on Dragalia Lost. This game is extremely F2P friendly, it feels like the dev's find any little excuse in the game, be it errors or glitches, just to give us free stuff. And for the anniversary, which is still going on right now, were basically getting 1 free tenfold summon every day for almost a month I think. This game is quite amazing imo, even tho most credit goes to Cygames, this game genuinely feels like a great quality Nintendo game.
Great video, little critique on your math. A 1% chance repeated 100 times is a 63.4% chance overall, and a 0.3% chance repeated 300 times is a 59.4% chance overall. In order to have a 95% chance overall, you'd have to roll a 1% around 300 times, and a 0.03% around 1000 times.
