  • 2021 Audi A5 Convertible Review featuring a base Premium model with the convenience package. The Audi A5 drives great and has a solid interior but there is one major problem that I go into detail about in this review. See my 2021 Audi A6 Review: • Before Buying.. 2021 A...
    I believe the Audi A5 coupe, convertible, and Sportback is an excellent choice amongst luxury convertibles like the Mercedes C300 Convertible and the BMW 4 Series Convertible. Audi offers a smooth 4 cylinder in this segment and the most solid interior with a design that's going to age well. The 2022 model years of the A5 don't change much, but the Premium Plus trim might be the best choice still. More details are covered in the full review.

    I’m definitely getting the 2022 A5 convertible loaded Next month. This will be my 3rd convertible and I don’t think they lose their luster over the years. They are always fun to drive and turn heads. I don’t buy cars for speed. There’s no need for speed in Atlanta. I don’t know why people buy cars for speed if they are not race car drivers. Driving like a maniac on the highway has never been my cup
    Of tea. This is a beautiful car that should be driven with class. Cruising through the city looking good. It is not a race car. Audi is a great reliable brand. There is one empty space left in my garage waiting for this car and I can’t wait!

      If you have some additional money to blow, I would definitely encourage you to test drive a Lexus LC500 Convertible.
      Once you listen to that sonorous V8 and the sheer character that car exudes, you will begin to understand I’m not talking about speed or being a maniac at all.
      Just because you have a fast car doesn’t mean you have to use all of it all the time. You can choose when you want to push your car, ie when nobody is around.

      @@MeynMotorGroup I
      Think that LC500 Lexus is a beautiful looking car but way over priced for its class. Lexus is still a great brand but not as popular as it was years ago. Not enough to put over a 100k price tag on a pretty standard looking convertible. The back seat isn’t even usable. at least in the Audi passengers can ride in the back seat. That touch interface isn’t user friendly and poorly placed in the car. It’s a no go for me on the LC500. I’m sure others will enjoy it if they have a need for speed. I don’t. Even when nobody’s looking.

    For those of us who can’t afford a new one, these are great used cars too. A lot of folks only drive them in warm months. Mine is an 06 A4 Cabriolet that I purchased three years ago with 86000 miles! I replaced the top ( the rear window had pull away issues), otherwise it’s been trouble free and just a wonderful car. I spent $3300 for it, $2000 for the new top, and that’s it. It’s my daily driver.

    I bought a 2016 this week and I’m loving it. It’s my second convertible (VW Eos) and I love it. It doesn’t have the Start/Stop or Auto Hold technology. It does have the choice of S or D for the drivetrain and I’ve kept it in D mode for fuel economy.

    I have the 2021 A5 Coupe. The turbo lag is an issue for sure with the stop/start enabled. But in my experience, as long as you put the car in auto mode and don’t floor it right after the engine starts, the lagging wouldn’t be as big of a problem. With 261HP just don’t put it in comfort…. You aren’t gonna burn much more fuel and you’re actually getting the power you paid for.

    I have a B9 a4, which is very similar to this car. I have felt the delay at start he talks about. I always turn off the stop/start button like he describes. But the only other thing I do when I know I'll need a quick start is pull back the gear selector to put it into "S" which increases the idle slightly. Then pull back the gear selector again to put it in "D" once I'm done.
    This almost eliminates the delay while maintaining the good gas mileage. I wish there was a way to permanently turn off the stop/start.

    • @jmartin2778
      @jmartin2778 2 года назад

      I have the same model, 2018 that I purchased new. Like the OP, I only drive it in S mode, which keeps the auto stop/start off. Over 39k miles, the trip computer notes 24.7 mpg with most driving being done around town. I live in New England and have driven it top down at least once every month since new. If you live in a four season location, I strongly recommend you get the luxury seats. They feature cooled and heated seats with the next scarf heating system which makes it very comfortable to drive in any temp above 32F.

    There are just 2 points that my poor English prevented me to understand:
    1-.Is there still a lag with the turbo when the car is set in the dynamic mode ?
    2-.what is the fuel consumption (I mean how many liters every 100km/h) in dynamic mode ?? it is unclear for me

    just picked up a 2022 a5 cab base! appreciate the review and especially the settings tips! thank you so much for the honest feedback about it and not sugar coating it.
    i am also (mildly) frustrated by the auto stop start. but do you really think going 25 to 17 mpg would be worth it? maybe some of those 3 settings (traction control, sport vs drive mode, and auto stop start setting) are less helpful to the start lag and hurt the mpg too much? i think it’d likely be fine leaving it in non-sport drive but disabling auto-off, what do you think?

      @@gerry2893 Good luck on your search! Audi has a car locator tool that you can use. In my experience in California, almost 100% of the pre-made cars had black interior. Hi Blinky sorry I’m just now seeing your comment from 4 months ago, yea i think all things considered getting 25 mpg in normal mode is the best thing. Perhaps Audi dealers can update the software and feel less laggy because I tested a 2022 Q5 recently and the stop start worked great, minimal lag. These Audis are super efficient and it’s very easy to beat EPA Mpg numbers. Congrats on the excellent deal my friend.

    Am I missing something? You've said twice that you can't recommend the A5 Sportback anymore because it has less HP now but that is not 100% true, and your graphic at 3:15 proves my point.
    Audi now offers 2 engine choices for the A4 and A5 Sportback: the de-tuned version TFSI 40 and then the higher HP TFSI 45 (which is the same engine in the Coupe and Cabriolet, and the Q5). So, sure, the A5 Sportback does have less HP *standard*, but the majority I've seen for sale in the U.S. are the optioned TFSI 45 with the increased HP. To not recommend it based on HP numbers is really not an accurate statement.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 года назад +1

      Yes so the confusion came from Audi not providing the 45 engine option as standard on the Sportback however it is an option and many outlets made it seem like the 40 model was the only A5 sportback powertrain so yes that was a mistake and a mistake on Audis behalf a very dumb and confusing move on their part
