Failed this level quite a few times and never found a working strategy, until I tried using Ignus. With him on the right and a similar setup to this guide (modified to cover the left side more than the right) he can basically take on Cerberus alone, and win. I'm pretty sure it's because he does magic damage instead of physical, so he melts through Legions and Cerberus due to them not having any magic armor. Just make sure to retreat whenever his health gets low and wait a second or two for him to regain it.
I used the ice queen for staling power and to help with the fliers. I used the mage tower you did for the golem so I could stall the cerebus. I put a barracks up at the top and they eventually became paladins to stop the fatties who fly. I had two ranger towers, with wrath of the forest to help with stragglers. You put a mage tower there instead for arcane. and you put paladins down further south. I didn't upgrade my golem until the cerebus attacked him, so I could take advantage of his full health regeneration every upgrade. My start was basically identical to yours, that's really the only way to start this mission. I'm just glad that I found an alternative way around wave 3-5 and it still worked. Many times these extra missions have but one real solution to them.
Your solutions always seem to work the best. Managed it with this guide and Ice girlie, Fire bloke, and Thor. Spell guy was a problem though, because he's so fragile.
