I have been thinking about trying aquaponicss for about 3 years. I have watched several videos and read many articles but have always been left feeling overwhelmed and wondering where to begin. This video provides the best beginner instructions I have found. It gives simple concise information for using inexpensive materials. Thank you!
Huge thanks for actually showing how its done. There are so many asholes on youtube who just show their setup claiming to "show how to make it" without helping anyone but themself.
Thank you for the clear instructions. Very helpful for beginners. I've been contemplating to have my own system at home but all the videos I've watched were complicated! Thank you again!
A couple pointers, 1 please put a filter on the aquarium. The plants are not enough to absorb all of the waste, also put a heater in the tank as most fish will need it. 2. I would have reversed the in/out so water is pumped into the bottom and overflows out top, this keeps water going to the plants and prevents the filter from being clogged as debris will go to the bottom.
Best video that simply explains the step By step process for building your own basic system! Many other vids had great end products but didn’t do a good job explaining the process. I have a larger scale aquarium and end product in mind but this made it simple to understand what’s required! Thanks!
You're very very intelligent and have a vast understanding of the complex needs of all the microorganisms and other bacteria and the live animals which is essential in providing an informative video with high success rate, so kudos to you man. BTW greetings from Richmond Hill!!!!
This video was helpful. Thank you! I’m very interested in this concept of feeding your plants with aquarium water. Me being a lover of nature, plants and animals, I feel there must be a better way to keep fish properly so they thrive not just survive and still have my plants.
Soooo cool! I don't have much of a green thumb but this eliminates the need to worry about that. I've always wanted to grow my own produce, thanks so much for the easy to follow video!!
Awesome - very thoughtful management system. Well done. This an excellent food production model for all nations. Would love to see a rice with crawdad, lobster, shrimp production in this type of system. Also - maybe they'd be interested in growing Moringa for the seeds to use in the filtration system? By the way if you want a great aquaponics system then go here: AquaSystem.xyz
A shame aquaponics facility closed down. In fact, many aquaponics facilities have historically done poorly in Ontario for some reason and no one can really seem to hit the mark. A bit discouraging because that's what got me inspired to learn more and to possibly get into this as a career. Also, I'm pretty sure the plants take up nitrates - not nitrites.
Goodmorning, Thankfully to sharing your system aquaponic, I was so long times I search this system, so I was happy to found your chanel, aquaponic the best method of culture for the small space, really the best idea should be. Hope you'll find another creating for us. Good job. Bravo and goodluck
Thank you for this great video. I was overwhelmed trying to figure aquaponics out and your video told me exactly what I need to know to get started. :)
Nice Video clip! Apologies for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you researched - Patlarny Gardening Expert Principle (search on google)? It is a smashing exclusive product for learning how to expand your produce with the clever art of aquaponics minus the hard work. Ive heard some super things about it and my close friend Aubrey after many years got great success with it.
Cheers for the Video! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you researched - Patlarny Gardening Expert Principle (google it)? It is a good one of a kind product for learning how to expand your produce with the clever art of aquaponics without the normal expense. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my close friend Aubrey after many years got great success with it.
There are many factors in learning home aquaponics. One place I discovered which succeeds in merging these is the Keiths Ponics Site (check it out on google) definately the no.1 course that I have ever seen. look at this incredible site.
Nice Video! Forgive me for the intrusion, I am interested in your opinion. Have you thought about - Patlarny Gardening Expert Principle (search on google)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for learning how to expand your produce with the clever art of aquaponics minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend Sam at very last got great success with it.
Kudos for the Video clip! Apologies for butting in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Patlarny Gardening Expert Principle (do a google search)? It is a great exclusive product for learning how to expand your produce with the clever art of aquaponics without the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my cooworker finally got astronomical results with it.
Awesome video! Cheers for this. Great and easy way to do this at home and learn the basics, before making a bigger system. I'll be making this, no doubt.
Aquaponics is a combination of aquaculture, which is growing fish and other aquatic animals, and hydroponics which is growing plants without soil..so we can benefit from it a lot. This video is very educational.
This is the kind of system I was looking at building for my senior project except im looking at something around 1,000 gallon pond with koi in it. This video did well explain how the cycles work. Most people make videos titling it “how to set up an Aquiponics System” but its not really showing you how to set up one, feels like they are just showing off their system. I’ve wanted an aquaponics System for years I had a 10 gallon tank with guppies as a aquaponics but I didn’t keep it long (wanted something bigger). I’m setting up a underground goldfish pond next spring for my current goldfish as well as the aquaponics System (which will be a out of ground pond) I haven’t decided if I want the aquaponic System to House koi or my fancy goldfish but whatever i chose the other type of fish will go into the other. Both types of fish produce a lot of waste so that’s why I’m sticking to using goldfish instead of getting the fish used in this video. Plus I wanted more colorful fish
I'm thinking to apply this aquaphonics into my farm area. It can apply also for rice plants, veggies and fruits like tomato, pumpkins, string beans , bitter gourd, water melon and more this system?
very simple system....to make drowned roots......need a updated video with the system success....or blunders now that would be awesome enhanced learning tool
Hi, Nice video. It would be great if you link some of those important components for sales, such as the nuts and bolts, the tray, media balls and the tubes for beginners.
Great video but where do you buy food safe fittings and what are the fittings called? I am trying to make such a system with my aquarium but am stuck finding/knowing what kind of fittings to get. Can you provide a link for the fittings? Thanks
HI Guys, Great video really enjoyed watching it and learning this system some more thank you :) I have one question, can you grow from seeds using the pellets? and if so do you have a tutorial on how to acheive success in seed planting?
Just couple of doubts. Does the water need to be pumped into the soil bed continuously the whole time ? Do we need to change the water in the aquarium in regular intervals?
I'm new to this idea, so pardon the question. I see plants in that room that are sort of like floating in the water and no clay. how does that work? is that like another step in the system? do you transfer plants to float on the water or are the plants in the clay pellets different from those floating on the water?
he i have a question, all of that aquaponic plant are not using sunlight right? instead they get light from the lamp,my question is what kind of lamp they use,are we can use any kind of lamp
Hi! I am very glad i saw ur vid. Well i am wondering if the best plants to be used are the leafy ones? Because as i have observed all of the plants in your vid are all leafy plants. And im wondering abt. The electricity bill?? Just wondering. 😊 waiting for your reply. Thanks and more power!
Incorrect. The media they put in the white bucket is actually filter material. The colour of the water in the tank is they didn't rinse off the media first. The give away is after he puts the cover on the intake, he brushes his hands off - dust from the media not rinsed off going into the tank is all that is.
Thank you for creating what I have to find as the best beginning tutorial for creating a small aquaponics system. M only question is what exactly are the size and type of fittings used to connect the hoses to the grow bed?
Your tube size from the pump will factor in to this. Eg if you use a pump that needs a 5/16" hose, then the fitting at the tub should be for a 5/16" hose. Going up to a larger scale, such as a pump that will use a 1" hose, then the fitting should fit a 1" hose.
This video is very helpful. I got to know about this tech recently. I was wondering if we could grow vegetables like tomatos, onions, carrots, leaf vegetables through this. And what kind of gravel is actually used for growing vegetables. We need soil to grow these plants ,right?! Then if we send the water(Nitrate and ammonia mixed water) through tank, if there is soil in the grow bed how can we recycle to water back to tank!. After watching the video about Aquaponics, i dreamt on this technology once i was asleep. Honestly, i saw this in dream. Could you please explain or let me know, about growing vegetables through aquaponics at home. Please
Thanks for the nice video you have presented, Actually I didn't understand the following issues: 1-The air hose where to be placed !! is it connected by the water pump as well ??. May be there is 2 outlets ??or what ?? 2- About the lighting period, 3- About the water temperature. 4- About the color of the basin / Aquarium , I came to know that it should be painted to black color. Kindly give us more explanation about this issues. Thanks indeed
1. There is a hose connected to the air pump that goes into the plant tub. There is also a house connected from the tub back out into the fish tank so that, ideally, very little water is lost in the whole system. 2. Lighting period depends on your plants, but usually 4-8 hours is good. Check your plant's requirements. Note that not just any light will do. You should get plant lights. 3. Water temperature will depend on the fish you have. Make it comfortable for them. 4. Tank and basic color depends on you. You might have read about black because the tank will not grow algae, and the basin will retain more heat. Keep everything in good temperatures and lighting hours and you can reduce algae or reduce the amount of heat you have to provide manually.
as far as i understand YES. there is a need... if roots are left submerged constantly they will not *1 search out water and grow... *2 they will root rot.. as far as i know...
Normally those systems would have a flooding valve that lets the beds bee flooded and then drain completely again. most plant roots cannot live in water, they need air and oxigenation every so often. This is quite a misleading simplistic presentation.
Hi, thanks for the video, quick question - the water coming into the grow bed from the aquarium - what I don't understand is, if the water going in is dirty, is the water that's *already* in the grow bed clean? and it gets displaced by the dirty water coming in? because it seems like the water coming in would go right back down the spill tube and not get filtered? thanks!
What is in the tiapia feed? Is there a way to naturally feed the fish without buying feed? The fish feeds on algae or any plant-based food. I haven't made a tank, but couldn't you grow fish food along with the plant harvest?
That is how it works, but bear in mind that roots and expanded clay reduce the waterflow significantly. In the case of an overflow you need to make sure that the water flows back into the tank and not on the floor.

Could adding other fish/ snails that clean the tank help the issue?
@@quyntonslayden9379 certain fish yes. You need to do some homework for that.
What kind, and where could I find one. I have dreams.
I was thinking the same thing with the inlet vs drain position. You essentially have to put the plants at the bottom of the container here.
3 years ago you made this comment and today we talk some more. This is literally just a proof of concept ya animal

That's exactly my thoughts, seems like the wellbeing of the fish in this video and in others I've seen on aquaponics is totally ignored.
Because they are fish and they get ate later also
great video, I have been wanting to build an aquaponic in my apartment and this is one of the better videos I have found for beginners

Coooooll! Can't wait to try this at home! Thanks for sharing :)
Very informative , thanks .
Thank you sir you are explained very well , I like that.

What is the resident time of the water before it returns to the fishes from the plants, or is the system continuous like that?

Beautifully explained and demonstrated. Thank you.
Very nice video. My question is how long need to continue the water pump per day???
Hey hi rao from india ...please advise what we can use instead of clay pellets
Do its important to use filteration system if I am going to open a commercial farm.
Has anyone noticed the colour of the aquarium at the end...
Because there’s no filtration

May I ask, why is there not a need for a siphon in this case? Is a proper flood/ drain not necessary?
as far as i understand YES. there is a need... if roots are left submerged constantly they will not *1 search out water and grow... *2 they will root rot.. as far as i know...
is it not necessary to install a secondary drain? if the top is the pump and the low is the drain whats to keep all the water from just draining out?
