If they were Spanish, they were "santeros" they did "santeria" if you ever saw Marc Antony and Jlo movie "Hector La Voe El Cantante". Black obsidian usually keeps dark energy away like the evil eye. Because if it was to harm, those pictures would not be in an alter to be blessed upon. Those pics would of had pins going through it, candle wax on it.
