Nice. Quite like the stages you did. Given me new ideas as I'm returning to the hobby after about 7 years off. You said about the shoulder trim. In 40k they have the black trim though and the heresy often not.
That’s great to hear! Hopefully my channel makes it easier for you to see all the new options for paints/schemes since you’ve been away! Yeah I just find no trim makes the model very plain looking so I prefer to add it for some!
I get the nuln oil, for me I'm using oil pin wash at the end to get that sharp panel line on mine, and the scale 75 red colour set to get a more terracotta look from rogue trader. Still a great tute for a fast painting style
I have a feeling that I will be using all of your legion tutorials for one of my HQ figures. I'm planning on cutting away the rock from under the foot of one and replacing it with a collection of 18 bases with a marine helmet. each helmet will be painted as a marine from one of the 18 legions so I can select the base that matches the legion of my opponent.
I really like the use of Nuln oil. In my head canon blood angels anoint their armour in blood (there's nothing to support this in canon), so it stains it a deeper red which works with the nuln oil. Then the lighter shades will be the original armour paint work shining through.
Love the paint job! Will be doing exactly this for my legion when my box arrives! Quick question, did you thin the Mephiston Red at all when you applied it to all the panels?
@@MediocreHobbies also have you thought about using Speedpaint for some of tutorials? Might be interesting with the different properties and it’s ability to dry smoother? Not sure what would happen with a wash over the top?
I know, you are doing the base so that all the chapters will look unified in a final pic but I would definitely do a different basing scheme if I would do a full army just because the orange of the base is to close in color imo. I would personally go for a darker base like city rubble
I would have thought the same. But a friend of mine had a stunning blood angels army on martain bases. Lordralderon on Instagram you should check him out.
These are really nice. Planning on trying out your way of painting BAs. For the base, is that one layer of chaos black spray and the another layer of grey seer spray? Does it change rather than just going straight to a grey seer coat?
This is a great tutorial and really getting me interested in finally giving contrast paints a try! Would you consider this same process for the primaris equivalents and even when doin dreads/vehicles?
Nice video! I was just thinking about how to do that dark to light red in a fast manner for my legion of blood. Clearly the algorithm is in my brain as this popped up on my dashboard. What colours would you recommend if I wanted to bring those edges on the red a little brighter to really make it pop?
@@MediocreHobbies Sounds good. And the other one (that I was struggling to remember), I was once told that red should be shaded with green. What are your thoughts on that?
I love this easy, effective BA paint scheme. Will be using it on my Heresy BA. Thanks for this tutorial!
No worries at all pal. Glad you liked it n

Cannot believe your output mate, phenomenal
Hahahah cheers dude. Appreciate that.
I screamed at the Nuln Oil and can't stop screaming. ;-) -Great vid!
I think I heard your scream from
Here. Lol
Nice classic paint job! I've gotta say, I really like the Horus Heresy minis! 😁
Ye there is something about them. Really nice and fun to paint.
I do really enjoy these HH tutorials!
As for the Nuln' oil. Well, while not my 1st choice, it's really hard to argue with the end result. (-:
Haha cheers dude.
Ngl you had me in the first half with the nuln oil
Turned out great dude keep it up
Cheers pal I will indeed.
Best colour scheme yet, top notch 👌
Ha cheers dude.
I went back and applied evil sums scarlet, and ngl went from flesh tearors to blood angels. And helps the oil wash pop out more.
That’s ace dude. I shall have to give that a try.
Woohoo my my favourite Legion/Chapter nice 👍
Glad you liked it pal.
Feels like I'm back in store getting your advice on painting my legions. Ahh the memories

Nice! I think I'm going to use this for some 40k BAs. I really like the way the scheme works!
That’s awesome dude. Glad you liked it.
Awesome! You did have me worried with the nuln oil, but I think these will look both great and distinct from my 40k guys so thank you for posting!
No worries pal. Glad you liked it and kept watching.
Thanks now to make a start on my army
No worries pal. Make sure you tag me if you post about them. I’d love to see
Love these Tutorials! Hope you are doing Alpha Legion soon ;)
Alpha legion are deffo happening. Soon enough.

Really like this scheme just wondered how would translate this to vehicles using the contrast paint?
I have a video or two on using contrast paint on things like vehicles! You can do it, just takes some getting used to with the larger panels!
@@MediocreHobbies Ah brilliant, I will have a look through the videos, cheers
Love the paint job! Will be doing exactly this for my legion when my box arrives! Quick question, did you thin the Mephiston Red at all when you applied it to all the panels?
Thanks so much! I often use the ‘air’ version of Mephiston Red as it’s basically a prethinned version. I don’t thin paints myself though!
Really enjoying your 30K tutorials, would you consider also doing Lunar Wolves?
Even though the Sons of Horus scheme looks great!!
You know I never even thought it do that. I shall add it to the list. Thanks pal.

I do indeed plan on doing all legions. Thank you so much for the kind words.

Thanks for the videos! Is there any chance we will see White scars?
You will indeed.

Yes it is indeed black and then grey and yes it does indeed make a difference. But if you chose not to do the black that’s fine just stay consistent.
This is a great tutorial and really getting me interested in finally giving contrast paints a try! Would you consider this same process for the primaris equivalents and even when doin dreads/vehicles?
I would indeed. Check out my black templar playlist. There are some examples in there. Glad your liking them.
Definitely do! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look for the other videos.
Could you do word bearers next?
There not next but are soon.
Nice video!

Probably evil sunz if I was to add an edge highlight. Glad you liked it.

im in awh, amazing

@@MediocreHobbies nice to follow a fellow Irishman ,
Now that you have done Team Edward, it is time for Team Jacob! Space Wolves!
Hahahahah nice.
What kit is this, I absolutely love the helmets
Mk 3 iron armour.
Stop it! My wallet cant take this, i am switching legion all the time! xD Started as Iron warriors, then Ultramarines, and now i want blood angels!
Hahaha sorry pal. Just do broken legions then you can do a bunch of schemes in one force.
