Splatoon producing constant bangers, even the boss music before this one is just fantastic called "New World Order" with the perfect level of unsettling. Side Order's soundtrack is just so good overall

I think splatoon 3 is my favorite splatoon for single player content. The online support has certainly been pretty iffy, but both single player modes have given me some of the most fun I've had playing splatoon.
“Iffy” is a _huge_ understatement, but yeah, single player was so much better. Alterna was a HUGE improvement over the Splatoon 1 and 2 Hero Mode, and Side Order is arguably better than Octo Expansion. Hopefully they keep up this trend if we ever get a Splatoon 4
@@xraenon1664 i feel like including randomised content into the expansion definitely made it feel worse than octo expansion for me, where every level was handcrafted and unique, or built up on previous levels, also the lack of the hidden special fight, new playable character type and the lack of variety of the randomised levels make it feel, well, lacking, compared to octo expansion THAT BEING SAID IT WAS STILL AN AMAZING DLC
@@nodot17 that’s why I said “arguably.” Roguelikes are definitely not for everyone, and Side Order had a way different vibe than Octo Expansion to begin with.
(Side Order spoilers below what I hope is the cutoff) The integration of Spectrum Obligato is probably one of my favorite ways I've ever seen a game handle a diegetic soundtrack. You hear a snippet of it as the level clear jingle, so you'll be familiar with it by the time you reach the top of the Spire. A little button prompt interrupts the boss battle after the third phase. You bring the beat in (insert Vine with beet on plate) as the sound of your Agent 8's heart(s). It starts silently, but the more you press the button, the louder and clearer it gets. When your Agent 8 returns to life? consciousness?, you find that Marina and Acht have matched the backing track to balance Order and Chaos in a way that Order can't fathom. I've seen all kinds of interpretations of the ending: representing passion, individuality, the power of music to connect people. I interpreted it as a celebration of the uncertainty of life. It's all in their heads, yet it's so beautiful. You don't know if you're getting a tomorrow, viewer. Make the most of today. (Edit, just two days later, because I need to take my own advice right now: Don't take those in your life for granted. You don't know when they'll leave you.)
Order opens the first fight by describing a perfect world where nothing changes because no one _desires_ change - if everyone was just content with where they were, there would be nothing but peace. The way I interpreted that heartbeat part is that Eight - after hearing the Inkantation, deserting, climbing to the top of the Deepsea Metro, saving the world from Tartar... They have a desire to grow and climb and _seek change for the better_ that can't be taken away from them... It just happens to manifest itself as a sick beat. Because music seems to be innate to all these sea creatures. (It made me think of the DJ Octavio memcake from Octo Expansion, whose poem is a polite apology that ends with "I wanted more"... Not to mention that Return of the Mammalians confirms the reason all these sea creatures evolved the way they did is because they were passed humanity's desire to seek the surface...)

Man, I have had a hard time keeping this song out of my head for the past week. I somehow managed to clear the whole Spire of Order on the first try and when this song started up I absolutely popped off.
