    I liked that page too... I never know sometimes how to read that card but that page gives me a clear interpretation of immature defiance.

    It was actually your review of this deck, particularly what you said of the page of swords that absolutely sold me on this deck. I am not sure why I didn't subscribe to you a month ago when I saw it, but wanted to say thank you. Love your channel. You are so thorough, academic yet you seem to have keenly intuitive observations. So..big fan of you..and yes this deck is AMAZING!!!

    Great review! This deck was on my wish list, then took it off a few months ago, now I'm wanting it again. Your very articulate, and convey your opinions like a seasoned tarot reader (which you say your not)...and especially like you're insight in the cards. 5/5 stars!

    Beautiful deck. I think the fact that it might make people uncomfortable is even more of a reason to use it, especially for shadow work.
    This deck does encompass all 3 systems, so I think the switch of Strength & Justice is more of a nod to Marseille than Thoth. Cuz not only is Justice not renamed Adjustment, but Strength is not renamed Lust either.

    for some reason the cards look larger than 2 x 4 as all the ones for sale seem to be. Can you plz let me know what size your cards are? I am looking to buy this deck but I like larger cards and I find 2.5 x 4.5 inch decks to be a bit small for my large hands. Especially if it is a deck that needs trimming. Thank you for your help :)

      Hi there! This deck is a standard size Lo Scarabeo deck. It does measure 2.5 inches (approx) by 4.5 inches. I'm a tiny person, so I think that's why the cards look a bit larger in the video.

    thank you for this review. in case you have the tarot of durer (the 78 card version), i'd love to hear your thoughts on it. it's one of my favourite decks, but i'm very new to tarot and mine didn't even come with a lwb. i wonder if it has marseille influences, since it seems to differ from both rider-waite and thoth, at times, - as far as i can tell.

      +DarkLittlePeople I'm afraid I do not have the Tarot of Durer, but I have read that it has some Marseilles Tarot influences. Lo Scarabeo's decks often stray from the more popular or standardized themes and illustrations as well, which can make them a challenge to work with. Lo Scarabeo's booklets typically offer a few keywords for each card, and sometimes they match the illustrations, other times they do not. When I looked up this deck, I did read that the booklet translates the Latin phrases on the cards, which might be useful for working with the deck. Aside from that, I'm not sure how helpful the booklet would be for your studies. As a newcomer to Tarot, are you doing a lot of book study or jumping in and working with your cards?

      i apparently need to get a really global view of something i want to learn before diving in for real. i have a number of very different decks, so i've been looking through them, comparing, reading about them (like general things on tarot and general influences on a deck), and i have an unfortunate aversion to RWS (thanks to the centennial and a year into tarot i'm almost kinda... bonding with it now. no, not really, but i'm more familiar with it.). i read through 78° of wisdom by rachel pollack often. sometimes i read through thoth books. sometimes i work a little with mary-el. i do notice some meanings are beginning to sink in naturally, and i'm less scared to just give a card a good look and jump off of that. sometimes i do a 3-card daily with several decks in a row, just to experiment. :)
      and, those who have te lwb for durer say that other than the latin translations for the majors (that can be found on aeclectic), the lwb only has a few very general keywords for the cards. the other day i did have a breakthrough with one of the cards, just thinking back to it after 6 months of being puzzled, an "a-ha" moment ! :D
      thanks for your reply, mine is a bit long but i kinda got the sense you were interested in knowing how a beginner may learn. or did i just accidentally volonteer as a ginny pig ? :D

      +DarkLittlePeople It sounds like you are really diving in to Tarot! It is fun to compare decks and the different Tarot traditions. I was curious about your approach since some folks prefer to grab a deck and go with their impressions, while others prefer to study different traditions and then explore how some decks deviate from those "standards." Approaching a deck like the Durer would be a different experience for one type of learner vs. the other, so I was interested in hearing about your learning style. :) It sounds like you are cultivating a very well rounded perspective on Tarot, and I think that gives you the tools you need for working with a less traditional deck like this. I wish you the best with your Tarot studies!

      you are so sweet ! i'm probably less serious about tarot than it sounds, because it sounds like i set aside study time and pull out decks and study in a focused manner - in reality it's very organic and spontaneous, and i'm generally a lazy person. the danger with this type of approach is that if one doesn't stick to it for long enough time to eventually go over all the basics, you're left with lots of time invested and just a fragmented knowledge. if however one sticks with it all the way through, i guess you do end up with a pretty damn nice overview ! :D how long have you been studying the tarot for, and what was your approach ? and, when did you start feeling comfortable and confident about your reading skills ? that might be a super interesting video - just sayin' ! ;)

    • @MythicSilence55
      @MythicSilence55  8 лет назад

      +DarkLittlePeople I'm rather spontaneous with my studies as well. I feel like I've only scratched the surface. The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know. That being said, when you are studying something as a hobby, a relaxed approach keeps things from becoming grueling and devoid of fun. Thank you for your interest in my Tarot approach! I'd love to make some more videos, I've had several requests, I'm just such a perfectionist that it usually takes a while for me to manage to record a video I'm happy with. So, until I manage to produce a decent video, I will briefly address your questions here. :) I purchased my first Tarot deck around 2006, but I didn't start studying and collecting until a few years later. I have taken a rather "academic" approach to learning Tarot. I enjoy learning about the history, traditions, and influences. I like to be able to recognize when a deck deviates from a certain tradition and consider the ways in which it is (or isn't) a meaningful and deliberate alteration. I've never wanted my limited experience to narrow the possibilities of a deck. I try to broaden my horizons and develop a repertoire that pulls from the traditions, symbolism, and input of other people in addition to my own impressions. I can't really pinpoint a specific moment in time when I started to feel more confident about reading cards. I honestly don't read very often, I have a very "academic" type of interest in Tarot for the most part. Gaining confidence with the subject as a whole has been something gradual for me. I still worry that I bungle my facts all the time!

      Thank you for your comment. Currently, I don't have any other videos published online. I do have a website, and I've been thinking about posting some written information there since I have been dissatisfied with my attempts to create videos. Is there any particular facet of Tarot that you would like to learn more about? Maybe I'll give recording a video another shot one of these days!

      I don't have anything in particular at this time to be honest. To say I'm searching best describes how I feel at the moment. I'll try to think about specific interests. I've used tarot for years for mediation and recently have gotten more interested in the history and mechanics and details of more traditional tarot. I've spent a few hours researching online and watching some videos. In general, I like your approach and your "style" for lack of a better word. You were the one I found that I wanted to watch more of. I appreciated your descriptions and thoughts on the Night Sun tarot and your history videos were really interesting, succinct and knowledgeable, made a lot of sense to me. If I said scholarly, would that be insulting? I mean it as a compliment! :) Ok, so I came up with something specific. What do you think of the Alchemical Tarot: Renewed Fourth Edition? I've been going back and forth on it for a looooong time. I find it rather intimidating, but at the same time, it somehow sticks with me. I don't care for the back of the fourth edition, but it's not a strong enough preference to put me off the deck completely.

      @MythicSilence55  6 лет назад

      Thank you very much, I value the comment about my "scholarly" approach quite highly. I don't have a hard copy of the Alchemical Tarot, but I have viewed images of the full deck - it is one I've considered purchasing as well. I do enjoy Place's work. I would say, don't let the deck intimidate you. It utilizes symbolism that may not be immediately familiar if you are more accustomed to some of the newer mass market decks, but I don't think it is inaccessible. A deck that broadens your frame of reference and introduces you to fresh symbolism is a good one to get acquainted with in my opinion.

      MythicSilence55 your welcome I just recently got the deck myself and love it especially how it kind of has a tone that show both the light and darkness in the cards, and yea it needs a book and I do think there is I know there is a night sun notebook but but I could have sworn when I orders my deck on Amazon I saw a deck that came with a companion book unless it just comes with the notebook.

    • @MythicSilence55

      +OblivionKisame Oh yes! I should have mentioned the notebook in my review; I bought one and was pleased with it. The actual product looks a lot different than the images on Amazon though. The cover is very glossy and the design has a more coppery hue.
