I know this is a year old, but the way they just turned sideways and went through the bars had me laughing uncontrollably 💀
Botching the key spot is a time-honored wrestling tradition. Glad to see it upheld today and paid respect.
As a 45 year old, my 'ole wrasslin' heart was filled near to swelling when, as the key was taking too long, the JAS simply got out of the comically oversized cage. The episode was sub-par (for AEW that's fine, and they just came out of a PPV cycle so whaddya gonna do?!) anyway, but this match was, as J.R. himself might put it, 'DAWG UGLYYY'...
Members of JAS had to go through the cage to escape lol.
That made the stipulation look like A JOKE
Yea, it was definitely dumb that they just crawled through the bars lol. But, they were hanging in the air before being lowered. Sooo, not like they'd just climb out & jump while the cage is still in the air lol.
If only the bars were that little bit closer together so no f*cker could get out. Tay would probably still be there now trying to unlock it.
"There's no such thing as a botch"
- Jericho, Chris
bc there’s not, it’s live wrestling. it’s gonna be messed up moves sometimes
No such thing as a botch but yet he can use terms like mark like when he said eddie k was a mark for terry funk
@@jacob_bams Yes, you can play off a slip up or malfunction as if it was just a natural thing like tripping on a springboard or a table not breaking but when Sammy is holding Kingston for Jericho and then they all end up standing in the ring staring at each other because their dance partner missed their step and now don't know how to recover, outside of injury, that's the worst version of a botch. Some mistakes don't ruin the immersion, some do.

Lol
It was a botch not a plain spot
_- Why did Jericho kick out of everything?_
_- Why did Jericho win then instantly Kingston popped up like nothing happened?_
_- Throwing Jericho onto the barbed wire afterwards doesn't really matter when he's already been slammed into several tables of barbed wire_
_- Anna and Tay telegraphed the 'surprise' betrayal very badly._

The fact they even booked the perfect ending to the match - Ortiz nailing Jericho straight into a Kingston exploder into the barbed wire in the corner - but didn't actually deliver the 1-2-3 at that point, is genuinely mind-boggling to me.
Or when Eddie has the wire around his arm and locks in the hold on Jericho he had during Blood and Guts, the one that made him tap before Claudio got the win for their team.
Either way would have been a much better way to end the match, but no...
The perfect ending? I'm not trashing the match it was great but I don't think it was a perfect ending the right person would have won the match if that was the case just like I don't trash Blood and Guts but the wrong person won the match for the team this feels like they dropped the ball twice Eddie Kingston should be the one to win in my opinion

There were multiple "You F'ed up" moments in this:

2. Tay Conti not being able to figure out how to use a key.
3. Jericho's lackeys escaping out through the cage.
4. Kingston's attempted back fist toward the end that completely missed but Jericho sold any way.
5. Barbed wire not actually everywhere, but only in 3/4 of the ring.
6. Jericho selling like he was being electrocuted when thrown on the crash pad at the end.
I wish the crowd would've done the right thing and called out the people involved when it happened.
Tay was punching air.
@@danielcubillasvaldez1784
In that time old AEW tradition: I remember the Dark Order punching in the vicinity of Dustin Rhodes, and, more recently in that War Games match, Moxley elbowing the air around Hager’s neck, which must have really hurt haha.
Someone really needs to start a “How to throw a convincing working punch” class, and make sure the whole roster takes it; because these constant shitty punch botches are really getting out of hand…no pun intended haha.
Throwing punches with a broken hand isn't a botch. People just forget the hand is broken until they try to use it. That happens a lot. Kingston was doing it the whole match with his injured hand.

Ruby has taken on the Bob Orton gimmick.
1. Everyone does.
2. Not wrong...
3. Probably, but they're all chickenshits and didn't wanna drop down from that meager height.
4. Fractured wrists take a long time to heal. Cowboy Bob wore his for like 20 years.

You can even tell the crowd was not feeling the ending. This was a match to end a feud. How do you go up from here? Blood and guts, a barbed wire match, how can you justify another intense match. It is the law of diminishing return. I love the feud, but come on. This should have ended by now. Love Eddie and Jericho, but this is starting to drag now.
Also too much booking with the interference. Just let Eddie and Jericho go one and one, and Eddie come out victorious again like in Revolution.

@@TuMalditaMadre haha. Give it an hour and they'll be here in force. They'll even defend Jericho winning
And if you ain’t down with that I got 2 words for ya

@@TuMalditaMadre Not everyone that likes AEW is a mark. Also, it's cringe af to use the word mark at all. And yes, I like AEW. But no I will not defend this. Cornette is heavy handed in his comments about AEW from time to time, but this one deserves every bit of Cornette'ism he is going to give it. I hated this match.
I didn't realize the barbed wire bed was electrified lol
People in a cage is giving me WCW vibes.
Same!
Well at least this Match gave wrestling what they were looking for in Barbed wire match someone bleeding . Let's see That PG Company do today in a cage match
@@robertrodriguez787 Garbage Moxley bleeds every 15 minutes on AEW so that takes care of the blood..the PG company sucks but they don't need to book convoluted botchfests like this because they know they can't. Unfortunately AEW isn't as self aware. This comes off as phoney, fake and just messy.

I love AEW, but this was arguably the most overbooked and sloppy main event I've seen in 20 years
Yes go watch a WCW 2000 PPV…it looks exactly the same as tonight
This episode is a tribute to Vince Russo's WCW with honors
This clearly shows you r fanboi, have you forget elimination chamber last year, all Goldberg's main even, many regular SmackDown and raw main events means really have you really ever watch this kind of match in last 20 years
@@ConmanRajat calm down. No one insulted you personally lol (unless you booked the barbwire match)

This Kingston-Jericho main event was really very sloppy but in comparison with WwShit it's way better
Jericho selling like Terry Funk while not tangled in the barbed wire like Terry is the funniest shit I've ever seen.
You’re telling me that after all the months Eddie has been tormented by Jericho and his society he couldn’t have gotten the win after this match and have been thrown a bone? The match was good, but the result of Eddie losing due to numbers AGAIN is pretty damn stupid
100%
Exactly and Sammy coming out to help Jericho just ruins the entire point of a Shark Cage.
Why should he have to win? Just to get the predictable revenge? Then some people would conplain it was total cliche'. Like real life, some people never win, even if they 'deserve' to. Most times, its the a-holes that prevail
This feud has been going on sine Revolution.....Tonight could have been a great time to put an end to it but I doubt it's over with this finish.

Its crazy that out of all the Riot squad members Ruby would be part of this cluster in AEW and Liv Morgan would beat Ronda Rousey to win for the Smackdown's women's title. I honestly thought Ruby would've came out more successful. I mean there's still time for Ruby to win something but damn that's crazy.
Tony doesn't know what the he's doing. He does a big debut, then they end up on Dark two weeks later. The dude is a douche with tons of daddy's cash to play wrestling with real live dolls.
Don't forget Sarah Logan
@@quentincampbell612 Well she wasn't all that popular in the group honestly. She was Aight no disrespect but Liv and Ruby made that group interesting.
@@larontezmoore3313 yea I’m definitely glad liv didn’t leave. AEW has some highs and lows but man their women’s division is awful.
The grass ain't always greener on the other side..
I feel like Tony doesn't believe Chris and Kingston can put on a match without interference, but IMO, every time someone interferes the match gets worse.
That the whole point of it
Yeah that's why Chris has been World Champion because he can't put on a Match
Jericho is a living legend
How. Becasue he has creative control and csnt lose unless he choses to? Mmmm
I can just picture Jericho making everybody rehearse in the back saying “trust me this will get over if you just listen to my plan step by step!
So most likely took notes from what DDP did in WCW
Yeah they should have listened to some guy like you off the Street Telling then how the match should go right .
“I’m a heel but I want the crowd to still sing my song and cheer me…. I just want attention!!!!” Jericho
Just burying talent so he can grasp onto that last bit of spotlight
He’s the new Hogan brother
Nah, when you are a living legend, you will get cheered no matter what.
Yeah your right they should have sang your your song right . Oh that's right you have one do you
@@robertrodriguez787 you ok there you wanna try to comment again?
In this age giving such a show Chris Jericho is a living legend.
I was more interested in Anna Jay's heel turn than the match itself. Main event felt rushed. Overall decent episode tonight
Did a heel turn because there wasn't anything good creative for her.
I'm usually on board with AEW's product. But this one felt a bit forced. You could tell that they were worried of getting too hurt so it made the show a bit stale and unbelievable. I understand they were being safe but it kind of ruined the authenticity of the show, why do a barbed wire match if they could do a bloody street fight without the worry of getting lacerated or slashed by barbed wire. The interference was unnecessary too and Eddie should have won this match and ended the feud. He's a fan favorite but always loses that's not right.
Get real with yourself dude. This was atrocious.
tbh i been a fan since day one and tbh this match was a shitshow on top of that eddie kingston should have won tbh this fued is overwhelming tbh
I mean Eddie literally beat Jericho their last match. He wins plenty for being a fat, doughy marhsmallow that can't work. If you're going to try to be the ultimate underdog by being in worse shape than the fans, you can't win all the time or it kills your gimmick. Jericho meanwhile is getting incredible heat with this sports entertainer gimmick. I think he should beat Eddie one more time in a blowoff.
@@redkritter1225 Bite your tongue. This was fucking incredible. I swear everyone's just being haters because they're marks for Kingston and they're pissed he lost. I haven't been sports entertained that hard since 2002.
vs all other hardcores match has happened?
Chris Jericho's going to remember this match for the rest of his life and to the day his deceased make no mistake about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AEW really seems to struggle with this type of match remember the Explosive Barbed Wire match.
The ropes. ALL the ropes should have been replaced with barb wire.
@@gmac673 You say AEW. But this feels more like, well maybe say Impact come ECW. Were lucky TK isnt a fan of IWA deep south. But I reckon if he could get away with it, he'd put on a carnage cup just for all the gimmicks he'd use.
Tbf, the only problem with that match was the the guys hired to do the pyro fucked up. The rest of the match up to the finish was good
@@gmac673 The point is of whipping a dead horse rather than progressing a company in its own direction. TK is a mark that wants a company that recreates his fondest memories of sports entertainment. The Attitude Era.
that match was great, it was what happened after the match that was crap.
Didn't live up to the hype imo. Jas going through the cage and Jericho going over doesn't sit right at all. Hopefully Kingston gets some bigger opportunities after this
It shouldn't sit right. Who cares about Jericho getting tossed into more barb wire? He still won, proving that Eddie is still the loser that Jericho said.
And really, that's how Eddie's been booked in every significant singles match he's had. They use his skill at storytelling to draw us in, then he does the job. It's b*llsh*t. It devalues him and undermines his credibility. The fact that we still care about Eddie Kingston at all is a testament to his talent and skill as a pro wrestler, because we really shouldn't, the way they book him.
@@bufordhighwater9872 Its not that bad, Im more bummed that this will be an ongoing feud for months to come, unless Kingston somehow joins or makes a faction to end it once and for all, I dont see the pay-off at all.
As soon as you seen painmaker you knew Jericho was winning
Jericho is so old he can't win a game of checkers by himself.
I really can't wait until Jericho announces to the world that he's going to be marrying me.
What
7:25 to 7:31 LMAO botch fest..Sammy punches Jericho and Eddie misses his spinning backfist 😆 Just terrible 🤣
You can hear Eddie scream “GD!!!!!” when he missed 🤣
I mean, it COULD be played off as if Sammy was just trying to protect Jericho by grabbing and pulling his head down to make Eddie miss his backfist... but it was likely just a bad botch, LOL!
Lol
2:04 absolutely horrible 🤣🤣🤣
I still prefer to see jericho vs eddie kingston in a last man standing match rather than barbed wire match. But props to jericho for delivering such a performance.
Or both but in cage match
Or both in a hell in a cell underwater

I enjoyed the match but the ending I agree the wrong person won
This is the worst main event I've ever seen in my life. The aftermath was even worst. And I still remember the Hell In A Cell match between The Fiend and Seth Rollins. I don't know how much money Chris Jericho is costing Tony Khan, but I hope Eddie Kingston can escape from this hole
So after reading thousands of comments im still confused. Is chris jeriicho ruining this show or something? What went wrong with this main event?
