Why do we really celebrate birthdays?? Does it not break the first commandment. Birthdays are not something that is celebrated in the bible. We don't really know the day that Jesus was born and it is for a reason. Because he knew that on birthdays we would be celebrating oneself. Think about it. So often I hear people say well birthdays are days to celebrate life. But if you read John 14:6 you'll see that Jesus IS LIFE and yet on birthdays how much on that day are we truly celebrating Jesus in his way and his truth and his life. On our birthdays how much of that are we actually giving and doing good just as Jesus did. It's actually the contrary. On people's birthdays it's all about them it's all about selfishness it's all about drinking eating watching listening usually things that are not good at all. Sure, you might have the odd prayer in there but let's be honest... where does it say we are to celebrate birthdays in the Holy Bible?
