coolarmyguy02 the town is actually just Plymouth, Mass. but supposedly the settlers crashed into a rock in that town as they hit land, so they began exploring from there.
Only in New England does 1620 come *before* 1585 (Roanoke, VA/NC), 1607 (Jamestown, VA), 1611 (Henricus, VA), 1612 (Kecoughtan/Hampton, VA), 1614 (Bermuda City/Hopewell, VA), etc. The Massachusetts guys were seriously late to the party. Funny how strong myth can be.

I loved Schoolhouse Rock when I was younger, and I still like the tunes. Yes, they gloss over certain aspects, but it's a three-minute song for kids. How much can you include? However, I do wish someone would make similar songs that are updated to match the times. We care about topics like what happened to the indigenous people now.

Alec, there were 13 origional colonies. Vermont and Maine were two of them.

Actually no. They created trade agreements with the indigenous and made deals with them. It wasn’t until the Native American Indians started to attack and kill the settlers that things went bad in general. There were smaller exceptions, but I believe you were concerned about the bulk.

The pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock in 1620. George the 3rd wasn't born until 1738. Now, I could accept that George would look similar to his father, grandfather, etc. (I mean he was a product of incest after all) but the king of England at the time was James VI. James had no direct relation to George, so I find it extremely hard to believe that James Vi lived for over 100 years, looked exactly like George the 3rd, continued to serve the throne, and was replaced by a guy who looked identically like him

tobby12347 that's actually a really outdated way of thinking. Native Americans actually contributed quite a lot, some were violent but others were incredibly helpful. Especially during the winters, they helped keep colonists alive by helping feeding them and teaching them about agriculture. you said yourself they helped them plant corn but that alone is quite a substantial contribution. they did more than we deserved and we slaughtered and raped them for it.

The relationship was mostly trade. Moccasins jerky and tobacco where some of the more popular out trade, metal pots gunpowder and coffee where some of the more popular in trades (although 1 of them was just brought up north and nothing else). It wasn't uncommon that natives would visit towns and cities for peaceful reasons.
The 18 million natives who where killed because of it is another story for another time.
