  • The Okavango Delta is an amazing safari destination, even if you can’t cycle there! 🦁 Unfortunately, my camera equipment and laptop were stolen the day before this trip so I had to film and edit this on my iPhone 13. 🥵

    Best camera is the one that you have with you. You created a great video with an iPhone. Good job.

    Thank you both for sharing your experience and I hope the rest of your adventure in Africa is equally amazing.
    I look forward to seeing your next video.
    Good luck with all, you are both inspiring ✌️

    The quality of service is impressive: here's your plane, luxurious tent with professional cooks in the middle of nowhere, a car with a knowledgeable English speaking guide and security (all the crew seem to be lovely fellas)... and most importantly myriads of wild life species chilling in your presence. Who knows, maybe that theft has not only been a valuable lesson, but also saved you from much more catastrophic losses in the future.

    I honestly wouldn't have known this was shot on an iPhone! The quality is 100x better than most videos I see on here! Do you use manual settings on your iPhone? My iPhone footage never looks this good despite having the latest model. Thanks in advance!

    Sorry to hear about you having your equipment stolen, but the iPhone is pretty darn good. I would never have known that this is not your regular equipment.

    I would so love that. For me there is something kind of spiritual about real nature. Am currently reading Ray Mears book We Are Nature, wherein he explains a lot about stalking to see such things but there you just need to go for a drive! I would even love listening to all the night noises to get a feel of what's going on and maybe next life come back as a Lion as seems to have it's good points lol, though that big old male looked kind of sad.. You can see how it's all in balance and connected and based on simple grass and rain. Those leopards are so beautiful. Love the guide explaining all and what a lucky guy but he's probably so used to it that it's just another nothing special day.

    May I ask......where was your equipment stolen? Maun? SA? Another camp?

    • @Cyclingabout
      @Cyclingabout  4 месяца назад

      At a camp in Botswana. It seems that people have worked out that tourists are relaxed about their belongings while at remote camp sites (three cars were broken into at our camp in one night).

    I am so torn about this...on one hand conservation is important...maybe if humans learn about animals they will want to protect them....but on the other hand...going into these spaces is dangerous for both the humans and the animals.if an animal protects their space...they pay with their lives,all because humans just have to insert themselves into every single space....like they have'nt taken enough from these amazing animals.

    • @sherab2078
      @sherab2078 5 месяцев назад +9

      This is even more complicated than that. Thanks to tourism people have work and they don't become poachers, for example. This is of course still an oversimplification. There are no simple answers to conservation problems. It is always a compromise. I don't think we should exclude people from the natural world. We rather should seek solutions benefiting us all. We are a part of this world - we just need to relearn how to live in balance with other creatures. Easier said than done, though.
