Nice narration, really was looking forward how the finns managed against so many dice. Draw for the finns against soviets is a moral victory! Those armored engineers are so slooow to go anywhere without a ride.

I was very very pleased with this result mate, it was so fun using the Finns to smash those conscripts hordes! As you pointed out, once the soviets vets are out of the trucks it's hard to catch stuff after he finally chewed through those tough initial units! Benny was a great coach, we chatted late into the night and I learnt a lot, absolutely lovely chap as well!

Can't help to notice the detail about the declaration of ammunition - is it really so that if you "forget" to declare, the opponent declares?
Shouldn't they just mention it when it is happening?

That one caught my attention too: so much so that I looked it up. From pg 68, main rule book: "The player must declare which type of shot the weapon is firing as he declares the target. Some weapons can only fire HE shots and their Pen value is indicated as HE."
In other words, there's no explicit indication of what ammo type is considered the default (although the weapons table of pg 225 seems to tacitly suggest that it's AP), and there's *definitely* no indication that the opponent gets to pick if you fail to declare.

Hi chaps, you are correct the opponent does not get to choose if you forget to declare it, perhaps I was unclear, sorry! I believe if you don't declare and roll the dice before you say the ammunition type, then it fires HE by default, or possibly the last type of ammunition you fired.

Hmm.. I am still not sure that is the case as there is no rules for what happens if you forget some rules 😅
But when it is straight up forgetting to say something that you *should* declare at that point by the rules, the opponent should simply remind you of that. They should not try to take advantage of it, at least in my opinion - even if it is competitive. 😊

Another great video - thanks for these. Regarding declaration of ammunition: Page 70 of the 2nd edition rulebook states: "When a unit capable of Shooting HE or anti-tank shots is given an ambush order the player must specify the kind of round loaded. If this is forgotten then the default position is that anti-tank guns will load anti-tank rounds, whilst other guns will load HE rounds."
I'd therefore play it like that throughout the game regardless of order given.

@@andreas1171 Page 70 makes it clear that you should indicate what ammuntion you are firing.... in the case of an ambush shot, you are preparing to fire and you dont have to fire at the first thing to cross your sights - in other words, if you load AP, you would normally wait until an armoured target becomes visable and if you load HE, you will wait until asoft target is viable.
The guy's went to Bo's to be coached in competative play, where the minutia of the rules will be exploited, especially at the top tables.... a very minor mistake such as this could cost you a trophy.
