    Cut-Rate Commander - Episode 74 - Featuring Solphim, Mayhem Dominus from Phyrexia All Will Be One #mtg #commander #edh #mtgphyrexia #mtgone
    It looks like out last foray into Phyrexia All Will Be One has led us to the mad Domini Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, so we best learn how to channel her emense power quickly lest she consume us alongside our opponents!
    In this build, we’ll be taking full advantage of our commanders non-combat damage empowering and easy access to indestructability to get her on board quickly as a hard to interact with blocker and then simply have her stand there menacingly, deflecting any attacks that come our way while all the burn spells and effects we run are empowered by her mere presence. Then coupled with some spell payoffs that let us inflect even more damage as we cast our burn sources and additional sources of damage amplification to ensure our burn spells are burning as hot as possible - our opponents life totals should be reduced to nothing more than ash under out fiery onslaught.
    Let me know if the comments below if you agree with my choices and/or what you would add to the deck instead. Also, let me know know who you would like to see next by voting on in the comments on the three choices of commander listed at the end of the video.

    Useful tech tip for this deck and mono red in general: Liquimetal Torque is a mana rock at a typical rate, but it has synergy with spells like Smash to Smithereens. Red struggles to deal with enchantments, but it if the torque turns an enchantment into an artifact, you can blow them up with ease!

    Oh I love Solphim! I drew him from my prerelease and have been itching to build a deck around him. One particularly fun combo my friend showed me (that really doesn't utilize Solphim, but is flavor fitting) is [All Will Be One] + ([The Red Terror] OR [Quest For Pure Flame] OR [War Elemental]). Nasty little infinite damage combo that I thought fit perfectly to theme and isn't especially easy to get out so other players at the table will get a chance to interact a bit!

    This looks super fun. I have a Torbran deck that i might redo for this, it's mostly repeating was to do 1 damage, where as this would be more spell slinger style, could be fun to drop a big 'ol fireball for the win lol
    Only thing though, Heartless taps to cut ALL players life totals in half, meaning we could end everyone all at once. A real boss in this deck, fortunately the commander just doubles the damage our opponents take, otherwise he's just a table flip on a card lol

    Im currently running this and having a lot of fun with it.
    Id reccomend Harsh Mentor and Immolation Shaman, both punish your opponents for trying to use their abilities & in my case, are prime bait for removal & counterspells so you can drop your bombs without as much worry later on.
    Sardian avenger is also a good choice depending on what your group often plays, will make treasure spammers cry.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Год назад +2

      Harsh Mentor and Immolation Shaman are both solid sources of passive burn to be sure, but their burn potential will vary depending on the matchups, which personally makes me less keen on running them, but if you know your playgroup has lots of non-mana activated abilities then go for it!
      And Sardian Avenger pairs nicely with Pain Distributor to punish opponents for using treasure (and to a lesser extent, other types of self sacing tokens) - so it can certainly get good mileage against the appropriate matchups.
      Good suggestions!

    Day 631 of waiting for the face reveal- hold up, Ravagan? Looks like someone has missed a typo on the script... how often does that happen? Not complaining, to be clear, it was a sweet surprise.

      Heliod, the Radiant Dawn // Heliod, the Warped Eclipse is indeed both cool looking and a cool build around - which I would personally lean towards a wheel focused build seeing as his backface can make our spells insanely cheap / free after just 1.
      And yeah, the typo was my bad - with 13ish pages of script a week, something are bound to get through the cracks - though in my defense, I can't even afford to put Ragavan in any of my builds, so I can't be expected to remember his name😜 .

      Glad you enjoyed it!
      Personally, I feel that Runaway Steam-kin and Birgi would be better in the 99 of a build WITH Urabrask at the helm, since he's a burn commander thats more concerned about casting lots of spells rather than burn spells (making him more of a spell slinger / cantrip commander in my opinion) which in turn proc our spell payoffs (Guttersnipe, Firebrand Archer, Electrostatic Field, etc), which is where the burn would come from for this build.

    • @GrazzetMTG
      @GrazzetMTG  Год назад

      While Urabrask is a burn themed commander, he's more of a spell slinger / cantrip commander in my opinion than a traditional burn commander - since he wants us to cast spells back to back to transform him to his saga side AND gives us mana and damage as we do so - essentially making our 1 mana cantrips free - which pair nicely with spell payoffs like Guttersnipe top deal lots of damage to our opponents, and that the saga's last chapter lets us cast again to re-proc all our spell payoffs a second time.

      Good question. The exact rule is here:
      419.9a If two or more replacement or prevention effects are attempting to modify the way an event affects an object or player, the affected object’s controller (or its owner if it has no controller) or the affected player chooses one to apply. Then the other effect applies if it is still appropriate.
      In short, due to damage modifier being replacement effects and the target being either an opponents creature or our opponents themselves, they get to choose which one applies first.

    • @GrazzetMTG

      Okay, so historically mono red has issues dealing with enchantments but we do have a handful of work around's. 1stly, we can of course just Chaos Warp it away (which is already in the deck). 2ndly, we can look at replacing Mind Stone with Liquimetal Torque, which still ramps us and we can alternatively use to turn enchantments into artifacts - allowing our artifact removal spells (like Abrade & Smash to Smithereens) to be to remove them as well. Liquimetal Coating can be use for the same interaction but only does this (no ramp) so it may be overkill to run it unless you constantly running into enchantments.

If any of those effects are self-replacement effects (see rule 419.6d), one of them must be chosen. If not, but any of those effects would modify under whose control an object would come into play, one of them must be chosen. Otherwise, any of the applicable effects may be chosen. Once the chosen effect has been applied, this process is repeated (taking into account only replacement or prevention effects that would now be applicable) until there are no more left to apply.
