I am sorry to hear that you have cut your thumb Leila. You are one of the most talented RUclipsrs in this era. I hope that your thumb gets better. Thank you for the video on Smart Fill on Google Sheets. A video well explained and thoroughly laid out for your students. Brilliant.
As usual always perfect. I have a comment and request to you. Your delivery of content is brilliant and unmatchable. Request you make a video on how you do your videography and editing. This will help me adopt at least some in my delivary of lectures to students.
Hi LG, a very big thumbs up to you. A very brilliant tutorial and demonstration. I always enjoy you, and I have been addicted to your video tutorials for the past 3 years now. Pls keep it up
Hello Leila! I haven’t tried that feature yet but it got me thinking. If the smart fill feature works to extract numbers when Google shows it but not when you do it, could it be just because they have headers and you don’t? ... I’ll check that tomorrow 👍🏻🤗 Thanks for all you great videos! 😍
Great video. I am not using google sheets, but it was interesting to know capabilities of different system. Getting formula is great. Although Excel doesn't have this feature yet, Power Query has Column From Examples and this step adds formula
Hi Leila! Thanks for showing us the newest updates! I would like to have a video from your channel showing best tips for developing macros and showing the common errors within this topic. I also think that macros are not very updated in Google Sheets as when I execute some of them, I think they do not execute the lines of coding in order.
Hi, Leila. Thanks for your explanation. One big question, do you believe Smart Fill function might be causing me the following trouble: while working on a file, every time, or most of the time, every time I move, or I click in a cell (example, to select the value and copy it) it opens me the cell directly to edit and it is causing me too much trouble and not letting me move faster while working. The thing that causes me trouble is that it doesn't happens all the time, but most of the time. It is not a mouse problem, neither exclusive of one file. It has stated to work the same in files that last year didn't did that.
What would activate the blinking? time - so every few seconds? or a checkbox - whether it's checked or unchecked? If it's with time, then we need to use Apps Script. If check box, then conditional formatting only.
Can u pls help. Like If suppose I give a alias word name to any specific word. Like i set cc and press enter so it got typed credit card. This same function i can do in ms office
Hi Leila, I saw your videos on a regular basis. Recently in one excel test I got a challenge, on which I need help. In one column, there were values upto row 30th. And the question said, "Highlight Values Greater than 1500 in Green, Values Greater than 1000 in Red, Values Greater than 500 in Blue" How can we use conditional formatting for multiple conditions like this.
Hallo Leila , would you please help me with an issue. It is about having the labels appearing in a vertical way within the bars of a sheet-diagram. I would be very thankful if you have a solution. Thank you
Is there anything that, say, I type data in a row, it automatically tells me that it already exists somewhere? Of course, that existing data is inserted into the database?
I'm confused when you're saying around 5:00 ish minutes the you wish you would give you an option to not have to choose vlookup but it gave you the option it was under the option. Or am I just crazy or something and seeing stuff
I actually wanted to have a cell sum up numbers from other cells automatically. any cell that had "IronPlate" in it's name, i wanted sheets to look for it's "total amount" cell and then sum it up in one location.
Smart Fill works with the example you give - separating first and last names from one column into two. However, I can't get it to work separating a column with house numbers and street names into separate columns, i.e. 25 Main St, 136 Gray St etc. in one column into a column with the number, 25, 136 etc and a column with the street names. Is this a limit of Smart Fill. Thanks for your great videos.
In Excel, is it possible to automatically change the number of columns being calculated? For example, I want to calculate interest rates in 5 years, in 5 columns.. if then want to change it to 10 years, can excel do this add/remove columns based on number of years?
But please, there's something i've been trying to do, want to create a Gmail group such that members can only receive mails but cannot send out a mail except authorised an member in the group. How do info about this? Can you help with this? Expect your reply soon
@@Puner54 Google is notorious for discountinuing their services. Sheets used to have a smart filled similar to this based on its fusion table project, which of course eventually got scrapped. It's generally not good to invest in google products for the long term. They generally miss the mark on what will be hot, and when they do hit mark, they generally discontinue the product anyway. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinued gmail.

Wow your intro is gold! I am already wanting to know more about smart fill. Great stuff Leila :)
Thank you! 😃
This is a brilliant feature, I've previously spend days nesting left, right and find formulas.
Very nice video. Brilliant stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m also very happy how you open your questions to the audience.

Google sheet working nice compare excel.👌 Laila bring new tricks every day, Well done.👍
Thank you 🤗
When it comes to pulling the numbers off, you can use the apostrophe before the number so it treats it as text
Very informative! Thank you for sharing with us these strengths an weaknesses.
Thanks for informing
Hi Leila, at 4:39, it gives you 2 formulas to choose from, is that what you were looking for?
thank you, mem, for introduction about smart fill in google sheets.it is very excellent video

Yes, good point. It seems headers are important for it to work properly.
Very informative! I love watching your material.
The things that you said Google Sheets can't do in 2020 are still unable to do in 2022. However thanks for the tutorial 🙂
Great video. I am not using google sheets, but it was interesting to know capabilities of different system. Getting formula is great. Although Excel doesn't have this feature yet, Power Query has Column From Examples and this step adds formula
Thanks Vida. Good point - Power Query's column by example does add a formula. It can also recognize more patterns than Flash Fill.
Excellent! Looking forward to more Google Sheets videos.
Thank you.
More to come, Lee!
thank you leila for introducing the new feature. By the way, what program do you use to edit your videos?? They're pretty nice!!
Smart and beautiful

Tq so much...
Really appreciate
Welcome 😊
thanks.
Leila I need you to show how to make a cell in sheets to Flash a color or blink a color plz
What would activate the blinking? time - so every few seconds? or a checkbox - whether it's checked or unchecked? If it's with time, then we need to use Apps Script. If check box, then conditional formatting only.
Woah. This is kinda trippy.
Thank you
Thanks again
It may work if you mark the column as text
How can I select every alternate row and copy it to a new sheet.
It was awesome 👍
Do I have to download it from somewhere or update ? dont see it in my googlesheet!!
Thanks Liela

You can add as many conditional formatting rules as you need. Just go back to “new rule”.

The example uses headers, yours is without headers. Might explain the lack of recognition?

You can if you have dynamic arrays. Then your formula can spill: ruclips.net/video/2USJsIyIzvo/видео.html
@@LeilaGharani I figured it out using very simple "if" function .. thanks for your reply
out of a data like "15/02/2022 08:47:46" I'm not able to extract just the time. So I would say, it doesn't work for me either.

This function, and maybe Google sheets altogether, will probably be discountinued in a couple years...
Why would you say that!?

Same here. complex patterns, though actually not complex for human are not identified.
I'm sure it will learn soon :)
Uhmm, I tried it in my side and it not fully working fine for me, sometime work and sometime not.
Yes, the feature is quite new. I'm sure it will improve over time.
