Anything you can do to keep the adds focusing you and minimize the damage you take is a good idea. Just make sure you don't kill any, that's by far the most important (so don't drag them through melee).
It will target melee if you don't have enough people at range. You need 3 people out on 10 man and 7 on 25 man. If it's still hitting your melee at that point, either someone isn't out, or the people getting hit are not actually in melee (he has a very small melee range).
I never said it wasn't a viable strategy, I'm sure it is. What I was saying, and still am, is that I think it adds unnecessary complexity. Even if you do get a third transition at 15%, it's not going to change anything. He'll still be fully empowered in the last phase. Our dps in this video was probably fairly typical of what most guilds will have, since it was comprised of 60% alts (and in fact, we did get a third transition).
Something which might help people kill it a little quicker is in phase two the first 3 weapons you don't have to kill and it just helps you push the boss to phase 3 faster just line the weapons up against one of the far walls.
Not really sure what you mean here. Transitioning into phase 3 shouldn't be a problem. You won't be killing any adds in that phase anyway? If you're just struggling with killing them fast enough in phase 2 in general, can't really say much other than kill them faster and if you don't have an add on you, stack up.
Some raids may not have the 'dot 'n forget' classes for passive dmg. Especially in 10 man. Some raids (most) don't have the leading edge dps shown in your vid. I'm so glad my raid talked me out of killing weps from p2 on. It's no more effort or movement than killing them and gave us the few percent we needed to avoid a third transition. Not killing weps is *very* viable. I love your vids and guides and recognize all the effort you put forth... but sometimes the raids watching won't be yours.
You get more than 20 seconds between adds spawning and mind controls. In that time period they should either all be dead or there should only be one or two alive, in which case 90% of your raid can be stacked anyway. Just sounds like you need to kill them faster and stack up as soon as there's nothing on you.
They're not invulnerable in phase 2, and that just further supports what I'm saying. Why go through so much effort to put them at the sides if you can just kill them?
We kill them fast enough, the problem is the Mind Controls that happen soon after the adds. People will generally be quite spread out resulting in the MC'd people not being stacked for interrupting/DPSing because we have too many people taunting adds (sometimes one will taunt it off the other). Would you suggest having "dedicated taunters" so the rest of the raid can stack back up right away? Or should we (if possible) kill them even faster so they don't overlap?
I think that adds unnecessary complexity and movement to the first phase. The DPS check in the first phase is not particularly hard, and that just draws focus away from the important things (Iron Stars and Farseers).
Hey Evrelia, how would you suggest making the transition in to P3 as smooth as possible, since we are currently having trouble with the Mind Controls occurring shortly after the adds spawn. Usually by the time half the adds are down we are already being MC'd and we are quite spread out because we can't stack the adds. This makes everyone being on an MC'd player far more difficult, if that makes sense. Would we have to split our raid up and have dedicated interrupters or something like that?
For phase 3, I thought you had to kill the small adds else they get the buff to increase their dmg done which will kill the whoever has aggro? (even tanks if too many are around) Or could you pls explain what you meant exactly? I'd appreciate it :)
The Shalings from Empowered Corruption never get that buff unless another Shaling has died nearby. They explode when you kill them, giving nearby Shalings that buff.
Has anyone ever given thought to just having a 3rd tank that can deal decent damage pick up adds in phase two and just focus boss? They don't hit terribly hard. Any thoughts on this idea?
Just spent all night wiping in P1, trying to have the entire raid AoE the adds till they were dead, which never happened due to war song buffing them back up anytime they got low... turns out, we got him to 20% that way.. had we just focused him and ignored the adds (other than wolf riders) we'd have been fine. :/ wish I'd watched this during.
Anyone know why the adds that spawn during phase 2 go directly for the tanks? We have the dps taunting/dpsing them but they seem hell bent on stacking up on the tanks. Anyone have a solution to this problem?
I much prefer your guides to Fatboss - nothing against the guys, your videos are just much shorter and yet still cover everything without the pointless ranting and rambling that Fatboss sometimes tangent off doing.
Heroic gear, a decent understanding of your abilities and passives, and knowing the fight mechanics in order to spend less time running for your life and more time actually applying the former two.
Very concise and to-the-point guide, just what I was looking for, thanks.
Good guide Sam! Everyone seems to have waited for this one!
Excellent guide! Very concise and helpful. Thank you for sharing!
A suggestion: It would be great to read a list with the abilities as in the other guides. Great work!

Great job posting this,it helps a lot!

Brilliant guide.
Couldn't agree more.
Your counter part guide for the written part link goes right to the youtube video
very nice guide ty!

We tried out a completely different tactic yesterday and 4-shotted Garrosh yesterday. Seems like we had it all wrong :D
you can use the big steel wheel thing to kill/wound them

Since I tank for my guild as a monk, would you suggest kiting the adds in phase 3? I read this could be done but haven't seen it in practice.
My ilvl is 560, but was around 556 when I did this.
Is Desecrate Weapon only supposed to target ranged? Because in phase 2 we keep having it target melee and turning everything into a giant clusterfuck.

Geez, what ilvl are you? Your dps is amazing.
I think he's talking about phase 2, before they become invulnerable. Or are they invulnerable all of phase 2?
That's a change for Blizzard. Garrosh, Always West.
Anyone know why the adds that spawn during phase 2 go directly for the tanks? We have the dps taunting/dpsing them but they seem hell bent on stacking up on the tanks. Anyone have a solution to this problem?
If they are going for the tanks, your tanks are hitting them with AoE abilities that cause threat.
Is the top dps Mage an arcane?
what is that background music? this is a problem, I can't leave the video alone :)
do you have video for addons?
Y'Shaarj is probounced Yha-sha-raj, not y-shash
The way you pronounce melee is funny. Great guide though
"IS THE TOP DPS MAGE' not the top dps in the whole raid. hes asking what spec the top dps mage is. obviously..
I much prefer your guides to Fatboss - nothing against the guys, your videos are just much shorter and yet still cover everything without the pointless ranting and rambling that Fatboss sometimes tangent off doing.
chevra phills
How the hell are your people doing 600k dps?
Heroic gear, a decent understanding of your abilities and passives, and knowing the fight mechanics in order to spend less time running for your life and more time actually applying the former two.
thats a monk, not a mage. teal.
Summary bugged
Wow you can cheat a bunch of the mechanics in 25m, should go to a 25m
Why the hell doesn't anyone who does WoW guides know how to pronounce "melee"?
It's pronounced may-lay
