This itself is still quite impressive. Walking machines usually require immense amounts of calibration before anything lasts - due to weight with the way joints work, they can start deteriorating minutes into function, and that's setting aside the issues of balance and range of motion (of which only the former applies to FNaF endoskeletons, since they're pretty much all ball joints).
Considering entire companies like boston dynamics are formed to teach robots to walk, i dont think anyone should expect these to walk on their own. The fact you even attempted is very commendable! I think what may be more feasible is mimicking leg motion while they use the wheels. Something in the wheel platform to just push the feet up. As far as something for your music videos and short film, maybe puppeteering could work? Have strings run down and allowing them to dangle so the leg motors have less weight on them
Making a robot walk with a basic animation cycle would be possible i think, given powerful enough motors. Of course it would not be able to balance and react to forces in real time, but who cares?
Not Quite. From what I have observed, The key missing here is the lack of a _MOBILE_ Support rig. Agility Robotics "Trained" the Algorithm in their Robots through the use of a Mobile Support rig that followed the robot around, think of it like the training wheels on a bike. If you just attach a String to the ceiling and expect the Robot to Walk even half decently, you should not be disappointed when it fails.
This video is presented as if it's supposed to be disappointing, but this is just incredible. The small movements are still way beyond simple mechanics and, in all likelihood, are more accurate to many FNAF characters
Yeah, walking is a pretty complex concept, there's all sorts of balancing stuff that needs to go into it. The body of a bipedal animal is very complex, and id say pretty hard to replicate in a robot of that size. Hell, apes were barely even made for bipedalism, part of the reason humans have so many issues with their backs, knees, and hips! But the fact that you were able to even get it to take a few little baby steps is still impressive! Maybe next time!
Right? He already did an amazing performance to even make the endo02 walk a little bit is already impressive. It's gonna be scary if that animatronic can run😂
I know they're trying to replicate the FNaF animatronics, but if someone want a bipedal robot to walk, instead of trying to make a humanoid robot walk, I'd advise them to look towards Theropod dinosaurs, their way of acheiving bipedalism is far more efficient.
It's a very foreign concept for irl animatronics. ShowBiz Pizza at some point had a spinning stage for 3 standing animatronics just to make them look like they are walking or dancing. Animatronics usually stay in put.(Aside from recent acrobatics animatronics like avengers campus spider-man.)
Try adding some hard to move motors, and figure out the point of mass so it can be stable when it walks. Add small light rods that connects each motor in the legs, and on the outside put something light like Styrofoam. I'm also not sure how the motors were programmed, most walking robots lean to the side to adjust their center of mass then they bring their knee up and moves forward. Keep trying to make these robots walk, It's more interesting to see them actually walk than to see them move with wheels.
Jesus Christ that is the most impressive thing ive seen so far of this year, i didn't expect to see an actual animatronic stood up by its self, i hope you can continue this
I really encourage y’all to keep at it; even if you’re not going for an actual walk where it balances on its own (extremely advanced and usually expensive technology), I think that the look alone is really what makes this magical. If the weight is mainly on the puppet strings, then I think you can create something truly lifelike and we’d all absolutely LOVE it
i think a system that would work well is having preset paths they can walk on by having a piece of string (like in this video) support them and just use the leg motion to help them move forwads whilst having the string move around to make sure they move
oh god, a person just making fnaf robots has actually figured out how to make a robot walk, this is one of the most incredible things i've seen a fnaf youtuber do
For now it isn't walking well but perhaps in future with more advanced stuff, it'll work as well as it moves arms, mouth and other parts. We believe in you, great work and try already. Keep up the work and this shall becoming true.
Ok I thought about this, If you put magnets in the feet and had a metal floor then theoretically this could work for walking. and could you maybe test this? If not that's fine but please make the fnaf 2 characters I'm looking forward to it!
Well the walking didn't go too well, but this is still a big step. Now at least this endoskeleton can also move it's legs while performing, something your current animatronic don't really do on a stage.
Dude, this is still pretty cool, If you were to give somebody the stuff you used to make this beauty, then we could have an actual walking freddy fazbear.
Yes, it is so complicated to make an actual moving animatronic using mundane resources, im also creating one by myself so i understand the complexity of the situation. Anyways y came to a plan B. You can crate a two wheel based movement system like the staff bots of fnafsb. I know that that alternative will break the design of the lovely endo02 but lets be honest, Scott Cawthon can be a lot of things but mechanical engineer is not one of em. The only realistic Endo is the one from fnafsb. Creating a simple self-balancing robot is not hard. With a nice planning you can create an animatronic capable of moving around like a sentient or a drone. As you can imagine, the arms are going to be a nightmare but its something possible to achieve. I highly recommend creating an hydraulic suspension system. You can make it passive if you figure out how to make it work but a secondary self-balancing module can be a good option too. Ah, and your Endo looks amazing. Keep it up Mr Afton! 😉
Literally one step closer on turning FNAF into a reality. Only thing left now is to start that tradegy...I mean built a pizzaria where anyone can have fun
i LOVE the range of motion on this guy. his movements are really fluid!!! is it done entirely with electric motors or is it pneumatics like the old showbiz/chuck e cheese animatronics? either way SUPER impressive. i feel the only way we'll really get fully mobile animatronics would be to have them moving along a track. but i mean, the fact youre even trying to get a freely moving endo is so sick already!!!
well, it doesn't matter if it's got wheels or not! it'll still look cool! also, I'm sure you can figure out a way to make the endo walk! You guys are amazing :))
Whatever you do, don’t climb into a bunny fursuit with deadly spikes that can impale at every part of the body while running from the spirits of dead kids🗿
It managed to take a tiny step forward and backwards, so I see that as a win. Bipedal movement is hard to balance out for robot builds, so the fact that it was able to stand up and move at all without falling over was a feat in of itself.
Idk how well it'll work but I kinda of imagine if there were wheels in the feet of the animatronics so it'll give a bit more accurate affect of the animatronic Walk and having the servos you in the legs like the spring Bonnie one so it looks like it's walking or something like that
Many people think walking robots are easy, but evolution literally invested millions just to perfect it. so even though Endo2 is taking tiny steps, I'd say it's a big leap into this project!

It needs to be more rigid around the legs. But ngl the fact that it can almost walk is insane. Now I am scared that Freddy is going to be in my room alive.
What you can do to make it work Is by making it to ware it can stand on one leg and they way you do that is by making sure each leg can support the hole body and make the bottom part more heavier than the top so it won't fall over
This itself is still quite impressive. True, stability is a main component, the base to the endo he made isn't very sturdy, so it has trouble walking.
Making a robot walk with a basic animation cycle would be possible i think, given powerful enough motors. Of course it would not be able to balance and react to forces in real time, but who cares?
