The music is mostly different, but does share a few tracks. For this video I used the PC soundtrack to avoid copyright trolls. The controls of the PS1 version are rather different than the PC version, so you could definitely try it out as a curiosity.
Yeah right, I recognized only some songs of the PC version. The driving physics were pretty realistic and "heavy" at the time, but the PS1 version seems to be more arcade style.@@DfactorLongplays

One of the most ahead of its time games on PS1, graphics, and it has a semi-open world, multiplayer for 2-4 players (although the graphical downgrade is a big effort by the Eden Studios ). I dare say it's better than the PC version, mainly because of the game's soundtrack, as over the years of evolution, the music and the setting evolve together. It's a shame that EA doesn't have such audacity today.
It might have a stronger presentation, but the driving physics themselves take a massive hit, though. So I guess it's about what is more important to you. I view them as practically two separate games.

They're different games, made by different development teams, but bearing the same name. Hence the point why this video exists. I had videos on the PC version, but it had issues with Content ID due to its soundtrack being plagued by copyright trolls, similarly to this one's.
Do you mean the timer? It's completely broken, actually. If you measure in-game time with real world time then you'll know the game's speed is messed up. The timer's "speed" also changes between tracks. The bigger problem is that the game's speed is tied to frame rate. The higher the frame rate, the faster your car. Hence why I apply 30fps cap for every race. It makes driving feel consistent, but it makes the timer run even faster, thus no lap/circuit records. There's some extra info on the subject in the description.
The game is made by French developers and its intended frame rate was 25fps. But the game shipped with an uncapped frame rate in all regions, so it goes above and below it. Because of that, the speed of the timer is usually never correct to the real world, even on a real PS1. The timer speeds up even more if you try to apply a frame rate limit, like I did.

This game looks phenomenal for a PSX title! Back then I used to play racing games a lot. Can't rely tell why I eventually stopped.
