    Wow. Paused at the very beginning just to take it all in. You sir, have given me inspiration for my future gaming setup. :)
    Original consoles + physical games > PC emulators + digital games. Nostalgia is priceless!

    Gamestop be like:
    "Trading it all in? That will be $55.33"

    • @mlgtacogames2471
      @mlgtacogames2471 9 лет назад +2

      No...
      He keeps them in perfect condition and since a ton of the old consoles are rare and good in value
      They'd be more like
      "WOW this is a ton of systems" So are you sure you wanna trade ALL of these in?"
      That will be 11,739

    • @mlgtacogames2471
      @mlgtacogames2471 9 лет назад +1

      MLGtaco Games So Techically they will give him 11,739 not 55.33

    Why are people hating on this. I would much rather use the real thing than I stupid rom. Yes it takes less space, but nothing beats an original. This is cool.

    There's a lot of game collectors out there, but this is by far the most comprehensive working setup of both new and old gaming systems that I have ever seen. Everything is so perfectly organized and conveniently set up. It makes it all the better to see you go in depth on how you created a room like this, as many gaming hobbyists like myself are often confused about how to set up their network of switchboxes, converters, extensions, and power supplies. Your videos make this task all the easier to understand and accomplish. Kudos for putting this all together, it must have taken years of time, effort, money, and research. You have my undying respect.
    Also, that wife cameo was golden, had me laughing out of my seat.

    • @HowToX
      @HowToX  8 лет назад

      +Pablo Munoz-Snyder Thanks. Prior to this set of videos, I did a couple of mediocre setup tour videos and received a lot of negative feedback ("no life," "need a girlfriend," "need a better TV," "old stuff"). This video preemptively addresses all those concerns. It came out well, but I will release an even better video in the future once reconstruction of my gameroom is complete.

    I have gotta say that I've seen probably over 100 gaming setups and yours blew all the others out of the park. Absolutely amazing! I'm just dumbfounded at the effort and dedication it must have taken to do all that. You got an amazing setup and channel and for that you have 1 more subscriber

    Everything about this video is a YES. I love the open concept, primarily because it gives the console the ability to breath (which is why I hate enclosed units/cabinets). I hope you never have to relocate. I don't want to imagine the pain of having to tear all of this down, pack it up, unpack it and set it all up again.

  • @GrayStudios

    This is a great set up. I love the idea of those weird trays for tucking away controller cables, and emphasis on immediate playability. I'm genuinely shocked this video doesn't have more views, it's one of my favorite set ups I've seen on RUclips.

  • @curtiswilliams7187

    Totally impressed. This had been a dream of mine most of my life. This set up is exactly the way I imagined it, including the two types of TVs. But I must say your collection is far more impressive than mine and waaaaaay more organized. Thanks for doing this so now I don't have to.

    This is fantastic! It's good to have all these systems for exclusive games. I've been buying all the consoles I missed out on and ones I use to own lately. I'm not a completionist with games I just want any game that was any good. Stuff like this makes life fun.

  • @Skidonti

  • @DecimateZ
    @DecimateZ 10 лет назад +1

    Great video and commentary. You are so efficient and I admire that. My compliment is also a slight criticism though too, because the room feels a little cold. All that cold hard efficiency needs a bit of cosy added to it. A nice comfy sofa, a beer fridge, some retro gaming memorabilia, etc etc. Still though, good work and I'll now watch part 2! :)

    • @HowToX
      @HowToX  10 лет назад

      DecimateZ I have no interest in video game memorabilia other than posters, and once I put my game collection back into the room, there will be no room for anything else. Definitely no fridge.

    • @DecimateZ
      @DecimateZ 10 лет назад +1

      That's fair enough. As much as I appreciate your collection though and the effort you have put into it, it's not how I'd have a games room...but hey, we are all different. Good videos though, I like how rather than just boast about your stuff, you actually give help and tips for others to use on their rooms. Probably the most informative video of it's type I've come across.

  • @ngoodravens3604
    @ngoodravens3604 9 лет назад +1

    Thats pretty awesome dude, i myself love the older games, so usually when a old game comes out like final fantasy 7 and 8 on steam i usually buy it, i just don't have a dedicated room to be able to do what you did. I like a lot of people just don't have the room so we end up getting rid of those old systems to save space. Also the job you did is very very clean man im impressed

    • @Logicfray
      @Logicfray 9 лет назад

      I don't have very much room but made a small "retro" game area. I built a custom shelf for my systems. It is possible to do in a small space but I get what you are saying. I have about 12 systems hooked up on my setup ready to go. I couldn't see expanding much past that I just try to stick to games and systems I will actually play.

  • @mrratchet
    @mrratchet 7 лет назад

    This is awesome. I'm planning on creating a small collection like this once I finish university. My plan was to have the N64/PS1/PS2/Xbox/GC/X360/PS3/Wii/Wii U/PS4/XBO/Switch all hooked up much like this video, along with all the games I have owned (meaning rebuy a few that have gone missing) as well as a few I missed.
    However, the more I watch these videos, the more I want to buy systems I missed. I now really want the NES/SNES/Megadrive/Dreamcast since I'd rather, much like you, play the games on their original systems.
    Until I finish university, money's a problem and I can't really do too much but the goal is to have something by the end of this year.

    • @HowToX

      I too went to college, and during that time I was very poor. It took a while to get my career going and to get situated enough in life. After that came the large scale collecting. Best of luck to you.

  • @dmworking247
    @dmworking247 10 лет назад

    I think your setup is great, as you have said it is very efficient function over form. My setup involves about 15 systems with a switchbox between CRT, LCD and projector. The shelving and power and cabling is a real challenge to get right, so I know how much effort this takes. So many people have a bunch of retro consoles that gather dust because setting them up for a quick play becomes a chore.
    Well done, ignore the armcgair critics.

  • @ip3onmyspace158
    @ip3onmyspace158 7 лет назад +2

    Very cool set-up, like you said it's a interactive museum. But I would never have the need to play that many systems, it'd be overwhelming. I'm perfectly content with just a SNES, PS2 for my arcade compilations and activision anthology, and a Sega Nomad for my handheld gaming lol

      In Part 2 I take a roller and paint the walls behind the systems. Just kidding. When someone sits and plays on this thing it's actually hard to see the back wall because there's a wall of consoles and shelving in the way.

      GamingTheSystems would still watch you paint the wall. Would be awesome if you come up with cool mural, I know it would be mostly blocked off but you could still see it from some angles. Put some LED lights on the back and make it pop. Its a very awesome set up.

      GamingTheSystems I would be very tempted to paint that back wall black all over. It would make it look neater by camouflaging all the wires. It may also make it feel a bit more immersive when playing and make it easier to focus on the screen, similar to a cinema screen being surrounded by black!

      No, the wall is going to stay as is. Since they have a light color, they show up MORE in the video than normal because I have a huge set of lights shining on the setup, just for filming. Besides, black walls would blend in too much with the black systems, black trays, etc. Everything would be hard to see.

      GamingTheSystems Very true about the systems not showing up. If you couldn't see them it would kind of defy they point of having them displayed. Awesome setup by the way! Very jealous!
