According to O.P. Tactical, this rig usually ships with both an X and H harness. Platatac claims the rig uses proper 500D Cordura, ITW and YKK hardware, so despite being made in Vietnam (IIRC) it should be good to go as far as materials are concerned. The pouches on the far ends fit those squared off 1 liter flasks Décor makes for Platatac, and I think those and the USGI style Nalgene canteens fit much better on chest rigs compared to typical tubular Nalgenes against the body. Overall, it's a really nice rig for someone who wants a one-and-done option, especially since the PALS columns offer some customizability. Putting something like this together piecemeal would cost quite a lot more.
That helikon rig that has TAPs style pouches, flap style pouches, AND a GP pouch on each end is pretty interesting. But I haven’t seen one go over it with a fine tooth comb like you do yet.
BrassFacts has a good little snippet about this rig in the video he did with Hop covering the myriad chest rigs they tried before settling on Velsys hybrids at the time. Main issues with the chungus platatac were with the side GP pouches being a pain to access, and a potential comfort/chafe issue. As always, YMMV with body type/size, ride height, and what you're wearing/carrying.
The zipper for the map pocket does come with it. As does a h harness and what looks like a copy of that tourniquet hammock. I really like the adjustable shock cord on the mag pouches, wish more American companies would do the same instead of trying it make a one size fits all with just elastic.
I do not like underarm pouches at all. I've tried many different sizes and shapes, with and without a ruck and they just don't work for me. There is basically nothing I would ever put under my arms no matter how badly I needed it on my person. I need full range of movement on my arms. I hate to be the micro rig guy but man they are really the only solution that doesn't cripple your range of movement. I'd almost rather carry a bandolier or giant fanny pack under my arm that I could at least shift around out of the way
If you don't want to wear it on a belt or put it in a pack going full Michelin man on the sides is pretty much the only way to get more space on torso mounted gear while still being reasonably accessible.

Vietnam has the strongest textile industry in the region. I know Crossfire has all of their stuff made there.

Happy New Year from Romania.

I’m usually with you but with a chest rig you can run it low enough that it isn’t the same.
