Yup that's exactly it. Ive found with the 300d the gel will burn out if too close to the COB, so I try to give it some breathing space. If I have a large enough cut(s) of gel I'll attach it near the front face of diff. I've found that for color temperature gels even if the rectangular cuts of gel don't fully cover the round whole, the diff will blend them and you'll just get slightly less CT change. Maybe a few hundred Kelvin, depending how effectively you've covered it. When moving fast on set that can be the way to go.
Good job on the review. The litedome SE seemed like a steel for the size and form factor of the box. I got it and experienced exactly what you did as well. Metal tips came off, three to be precise, seemed cheap. Could I glue them, hopefully. Used it one time. The case, grid, size, price, and form factor are all in it's favor. Will I use it up in a month of interview, I hope not. Perfect balance on the review, you need more views.
Thanks Paul! I’ll do an update video at some point, but I used some Loctite super glue (“professional” although I don’t know what the difference is) for the metal tips. Seems to be holding up after a few uses. On another note my SE carrying bag has already torn after very light use 🤷♂️
Hi Andy, thank you for the this informative video. I feel most of the reviewers don't mention about long term durability issues(metal rod bending etc.) which should be one of the main deciding factors for consumers. So, thank you for mentioning these details. Also, seems like you have lots of dome so I wanted to ask you, if you bought a softbox today for your keylight during talking head videos, would it be Aputure or is there any other softbox you'd recommend?
I've been wanting to pick up some Glow and Westcott softboxes for comparison but haven't yet. I think for bowens mount the Light Dome II is still a great value. The metal rods bending is the only drawback, and just over time. The LD SE is good value for small studios where it stays set up. Doesn't hold up to alot of abuse
loved ur review
Terrific review!
Thanks for the review!
Good job bro, don't stop publishing new videos every 1 or 2 weeks.
Good luck 🙏
very nice review. like your talking style very much. subscribed 😃
great review, thanks. also, your audio quality is great, and not a boom in view even with the wide shot - what are you using?
Love this and your 8-bit animation😍
Hi,i bought one from this:www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002423827555.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allProduct.8148356.6.26df49ccYDqVXR
Great video, man! How do you go about put a gel in the light dome SE when you need to? Is it feasible to clothespin it to the rods?

Thanks for the review Andy. What about the performance, have you noticed any significant difference between the Light Dome II and the Light Dome SE?
Hey Jorge. The light quality I would say is pretty much the same between the two. So the main differences are the ease of use, build quality and size
@@LittleFjords Thanks for the reply, I'm about to order and your opinion helped me decide between those two options
OF COURSE WE NEED A GEL HOLDER!!! WHAT THE HELL MAN!!!
Awesome, but what about the light quality? Difference in depth means that Light Dome II should actually produce softer light.

Great review. Didn't care for the bone-cracking, stretching and yawning though. It's a product review, not a warm-up for exercise video.
Good video but I found the strange stretching segments cringy and rather off-putting.
Thanks for the review!
