wow you actually put a lefty mirrored version in a tutorial?! man huge respect, for that...no one ever gives us lefties shit like that lol i usually have to find an app or plugin that mirrors videos
I'm still not great at lunars, but I just wanted to drop by and say that when I watched this video several months ago, it unlocked my ability to do lunars. Your explanation of the turn and the pull up is the best. Thanks for helping me level up my guy! :)
Bro this is the best tutorial I've seen. I've had so much trouble with this one. I've watched all the other tutorials but you just explain some extra details well. Also the first person view helps. I landed lunar 4 times today. I've only been playing for about 2 weeks but I've been trying to lunar all week with no luck.
oh my god! your tutorial is amazing!!! i've tried so many times and never had seen a slight chance of success until i tried your method. i did it within 10min. great tutorial!
i've been trying this trick for 2 weeks. i got the first motion down, but can't get it to stick on my dama. i might be tugging it too hard, but im not sure. i got it to stick once last night and it was the best feeling ever until it fell off haha. this tutorial helped alot tho, thanks man. gonna keep trying this till i get it.
Thanks so much, After many, many hours I finally got it! My tips for anyone who is learning the trick ( From someone who has only landed a few) is to have your thumb near the bottom of the ken, almost at the area where the string comes out and your pointer finger near the hole. Make sure you bend your knees to cushion the fall. Keep practicing you will get it!
Finally a turorial worth a dam.iv been struggleing learning aeroplane and luna consistant its the amount of swimg seems like too much of a swing makes all the moves harder or impossable is that right ?.rather than having the ken and tama almost straight up amd down from eachother iv been pulling back the Ken 10 inches or so then letting go so it swings then pull up .and i land 1 in a 100 it feels crappy .would you say this has been my problem them ? I really appreciate the help i really want to love kendama i came over from balisong flipping and im just having a crappy time trying to het into this im finding it so hard to do anything with any flow or consistancy its ruining it for me .also i seem to struggle with learning how to get the right predictable rotation when going from any cup to spike is there anything you can advise with helping with hole control .maybe a video on these things for learners might be good .you know something like the struggles of a begginer what people tend to do wrong i think these super basics arnt talked abput that iv found i just wana freestyle and combo so i. Can just have fun with it im the only person i know who uses a kendama so i cant learn directly from a friend or something .thanks in advance for the help .
Uriel Sanchez thanks for the info. I landed my first after seeing your video a couple days ago. Took me a while. Still trying to figure out the flick with the hand.
Hey Uriel always enjoy your tutorials. I was just wondering on your thoughts of pulling up lunars, 1 turn lunars even lighthouses etc but keeping the tama hole completely out the way of the cup. I seem to see quite a few people doing this now, and am wondering if there is any sort of technique change required, as i find it feels weird when I try it. Cheers.
bundybarron There is no extra technique. It will just feel weird at first. People do this because the growing size of bevels these days. I find myself doing this on my cfraser mod with lighthouses because the bevel is just so huge, it gets in the way and makes it lean when I try to adjust it. Also, if you don't land lunars precisely so they completely cover the hole, they could lean back and fall off. This is definitely one of the downsides to having such a huge bevel.
Uriel Sanchez yeah it's a sweets arctic cushion with an RWB classic Ken that I'm encountering this problem. Lighthouses not so much as lunes though. Just been playing with lunar and 1-2 turns with the hole out the way and it's feeling less weird! Keep up the tutorials they're great!
Rachel S. The lunar balance wasn't good, which means it would lean back and fall off. Since wood varies in density, this one was too heavy in the base cup so i drilled a hole in it. This is not the case for all kendamas. For example, you could buy 2 of the same kendamas and one might have good lunar balance and the other might have bad lunar balance. Wood varies so much so you can never be sure what you are going to get. I might make a tutorial on this in the future and explain it more thoroughly.

You are the best. You explain things in so much details! I have a question. Which kendama is better for beginner:sweets prime or krom pop?
Thx so much this helped so much
Nice
Any tips on keeping the bead in the tama? The way I'm pulling it's coming out of the hole most of the time.
Justin Gentile tie a knot a couple inches from the string hole
Uriel Sanchez is that legal when playing in competitions?
Justin Gentile That technique came from one of the jka guy I believe. I'm pretty sure there are no rules against it. Could be wrong though.
Uriel Sanchez thanks for the info. I landed my first after seeing your video a couple days ago. Took me a while. Still trying to figure out the flick with the hand.
Uriel Sanchez I need your help I beenge my knees and nothing happens after landing the lunar
all i needed was to switch the string to left handed kendama and it was all the difference
How high are you holding the ken?
