Spring Cleanup 2020: 2 Republic Services Mack LEU Heil DuraPack 5000 Rear Loaders

Last weekend I took a trip over to Elmhurst for the morning to film the annual cleanup, where I saw about 40 different trucks. This was the first cleanup I have ever been to and it was a very big operation, with a very big chunk of all the front loaders and rear loaders there to help. Most of the drivers I tried to film were pretty camera shy so the whole trip was pretty disappointing, however I walked away with 4 good sized videos which isn’t terrible but definitely less than what I was hoping for.
Here we see two of Melrose Park’s LEU Heil rear loaders, which I’ve always been pretty fond of because I think they look really good. They usually run alley collections or yard waste so this was pretty cool to see, and I don’t think they run in this particular contract too often at all. I’m glad I was able to film these two hard at work, and a big thanks goes out to the two drivers who were nice enough to let me film. I also apologize for the absence of driving shots, I was trying to maximize my time and I didn’t want to wait 3-5 minutes for an 8 second clip.

Nice work! I really like the looks of these trucks, I think York has an MRU setup just like this. Interesting to see that they have a single guy running it, you’d think with the large items expected to be put out they’d do two guys per truck to “safely” lift and move things.
Thank you! That’s cool that they have one like this, that would be cool to see in action! I definitely agree with you on that, especially with how big Republic is on safety but there were so many trucks out there, drivers were just told to call one another up if they needed help

That city is lucky, here in Canada we have to break down boxes and take electronics to a recycling place ourselves.
Lucky for the residents but not the workers at recycling centre.
If I was this guy, I"d be dead tired by end of day.

Nothing better than a rear loaded on bulk! Did they have any mcneilus or leach rear loaders out there or is everything Heil for them? The first truck reminds me of our 2075 except ours is an LR
I couldn’t agree more! They did have one LR McNeilus out there (video to come in the next few months), but unfortunately just about all of their Leach’s are gone. I really like Massillion’s LR Heil’s especially since they spec’d theirs with pushers, they are pretty similar through. Thanks for the comment!
MidwestTrashTrucks yeah that's true ours do have pushers. I never even thought to look at that because I'm so used to Ohio trucks haha. Speaking of specs I really wish ours had dual cart tippers like these! Can't wait for the video of the mcneilus! Was it on an LEU as well?
think they dump at the transfer in franklin park? or Addison but I think franklin park is closer ive seen WM running there also unless they only do commercial part 2 coming ?
They dump at Northlake transfer station. Other segments to come.
My only concern is are they going to separate all of that?
Unfortunately it does not get recycled, but with how bad recycling markets are these days it would more than likely get sent to a landfill anyway

There were over 40 trucks out there in the area all helping to get the job done, so it was not just him working alone
We don’t have rear loaders where I live they are dangerous
