Herbie has shown, through a remarkable career of consistent growth, development, and creative inventiveness, to be the most advanced musician of this period. These musicians have found the formula that allows themselves to entertain one another and communicate that joy and appreciation for extended Audience development. Miles, once said, Herbie could be the next Duke Ellington if he wanted to assume the mantle.
Miles said, HERBIE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT IS THE LINK OF DUKE, BUD, BILL EVANS and THELONIOUS MONK LISTEN TO ALL HE'S DONE AND WHAT HE'S DOIN NOW AND IS GONNA DO IN THE FUTURE!!!!!GOD BLESSES US SO WE LEARN AND LOVE PRES.....said BLACK IS SUCH A BEAUTIFILL COLOR,CAUSE YOU CAN DO SO MUCH WITH IT!!!!!!
Herbie Hancock is such an incredible genius! He must be among the all-time leaders in albums recorded. I wonder what that number is, and if anyone can touch it. How did he find the TIME to do all those recordings? They contain some of the most complex music ever recorded, so they MUST have required a little preparation . . . even for HIM!
Hancock released Perfect Machine this same year and he decided to play Shorter's Footprints....... Dude. This set is so frigging rad for so many reasons.
That one audience member is so obnoxious - yelling - come on slow it down - yeahhhhh come on pick it up! - there ya go there it is! Like dude can’t just sit and listen and vibe out with everyone else, has to participate and act like he is part of the show or understands what is happening or something - so insecure and unfortunate for the rest of everyone.
look how HAPPY AL LOOKS !!! so great to see this and hear it ,,buster ...such great big fat swinging sound and time ,,,and herbie ---the top of the mountain ,,love it
Herbie likes romance, great wines from where I was born, electronics with Wayne not too far by. But if he wants the highest point of meditation, he simply sits at his FAZIOLI and lets his hands thrust their divinity to a place that is to him only. Miles is nearby in the black hole #7Bis. I spoke to hh on the phone a few milliseconds. I wet myself and hid on the way to the bathroom. I feigned working for the rest of the day...sitting under the Fazioli.
I love, & would have loved to have seen better; Al Foster: As usual american cameramen don't know what a four bar break is...... very poor coverage of the drums!
this is the best you people could come up with..really embarrassing from grown men" tripping balls or coked"????? oh brother...oh yeah,I forgot " incredible weed"???? great observation guys...
Actually, Herbie has recently declared he has taken all kinds of drugs - even crack - but never before playing. He added he was so admirative of Wayne Shorter, because the latter was able to play while punch-drunk, which Herbie was incapable of.
Al Foster makes Herbie sound so good, just as he did/does with Miles, Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson, McCoy Tyner and his own groups!
Here's the setlist with corrected time marks:
04:51 - Just one of those things
24:42 - Air Dancing
35:13 - Footprints
49:50 - Oleo
This is why RUclips is so good!
P.s. Got to love that Herbie is wearing a calculator watch!! Seriously dope in 88"
herbies nickname is seriously dope
Buster Williams - Bass
Al Foster - Drums
All star lineup....
Okay, but who's the cat on piano?
.
I am clever.
Thanks brooo 💪🏾
Happy 80th Birthday Herbie Hancock
Just outstanding, that Al solo starting around 43:53 is probably the best melodic and straight creative drum solo I have heard period.
Herbie is an international treasure I swear....!!!🥰🥰🥰

I´m a Double Bass player and by seeing the thin the bassist strings are playing so mut be piece of cake for him.
This is where I used to go when I lived in Newport, RI. I was in my 20's. If I only knew how wonderful this really is as far as music and artists.
+Janis Renzi That is how you learn! If you never went you may no know. Now you know!
I enjoyed the music back then.
Hancock released Perfect Machine this same year and he decided to play Shorter's Footprints....... Dude. This set is so frigging rad for so many reasons.

The Greatest!
Quando o RUclips mete várias propagandas durante uma música acho que é o algoritmo deles tentando nos fazer abominar marcas específicas
Is there anyone nowadays who has a modern style comparable to greats like these guys, Coltrane, Davis, Monk or others?
Chris Dave, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding perhaps
Jens Sweeting Thank you.
+James Smith gregory porter and his band also do have some classiness but its more old school
