    In Sweden we have had this for more than 20 years with designated spaces for wheelchairs and strollers both at the back section and the center section of buses, in addition to that card readers have been equipped for those boarding at the back and in the center sections so that you don't have to go through the entire length of the bus, saving space, times and costs.

    This really great because still need a space but much better then having to take up more the one seat on the bus because I really can’t stand sometimes on bus because of my invisible disability and it really unfair that people don’t understand when you have to give up for stroller because it should be like this bus a good space or fold the stroller

    I don't understand, why were 3 rows of seats removed though? I don't like the 2023 seat design. It also is too tight on the left side too to sit in between the flip seats.

    I love this idea but they should make a spot big enough for a double stroller.
    My sister is a mom of twin girls & I used to watch her struggle so much on the bus.
    She would have to bring the babies ( in carseats) on the bus 1st then go back & grab the stroller when she was traveling alone.
    She would have the driver put the handicap seats ( if noone who was handicapped already occupied them) so she could put her closed stroller in that area and strap It in.
    It was such a hassle. If she was 1 hr or closer( walking distance) she would walk to not have to go threw the headache.
    If she could just walk onto a bus with the stroller and secure it like on the busses it should it would be so much more convenient for parents with 1 or multiple young children.

    You haven't been able to take occupied strollers on buses before??? In Australia they have been allowed for decades, ever since the introduction of low-floor buses in the 1990's. Strollers use wheelchair spaces - wheelchairs have priority for the spaces but their use is not common, with the wheelchair space mostly used by strollers, shopping carts/jeeps, luggage, people standing, etc. The same as with wheelchairs, strollers need to be up against the side wall of the bus, against the front wheel arch facing backwards and with the brakes on - so if the bus has to brake suddenly the wheelchair or stroller doesn't move and injure its occupant or others on the bus.

    • @kariminalo979
      @kariminalo979 Год назад

      Same in Sweden, the biggest problem with transit buses in the US is that the regulations are severely outdated and impractical for mass transit vehicles. North American mass transit buses simply can't compare to the ones in Europe, Australia and parts of Asia and Middle east. The North American bus, trucking and automobile lobby would never allow for example MAN, Volvo, Mercedes and BYD to import their European/Asian variants to North America. It's an inferiority complex since the North American bus manufacturers aren't as clever and practical so they tell congress to make shitty regulatory policies to protect their shitty fleets.

    Speaking from 3 years over experience…Many children have different needs that require them to remain in strollers. The designate open area is great! It should be on all route and 2 areas (like wheelchairs) are best. But the focus needs to be clear to the drivers !
    They need to provide better, more courteous customer service. Therefore memos and briefing emphasis their attitude towards the person with the stroller and traveling with children should be address.
    I have had drivers refuse to lower the bus , drive off past us at the bus , close the door in our face while quickly folding, make nasty comments or simply put are rude. Special needs family have it hard enough.
    Also the first & last single seat (opposite back door) on standard buses is are great location for a single fold. Preferable facing forward for a parent to be seated further securing the stroller.
    Thanks, S/A L.
