Firstly, I would scan that floral photo album, the flowers are gorgeous. The pages could then be utilised for future journals or easier to use as not so thick and could be tea dyed.
I did not do the challenge...just discovered you. I SO APPRECIATE the way you put this sweet journal together. You took out all intimidation...so inviting. I think I will assemble my tea dyed pages (along with other things) in this way. THANK YOU!!! I have been watching Junk Journal You Tube Videos for a few years and have yet to complete one...I think now is the time. THANK YOU!!!!! AGAIN!!!!
We're live! You can still sign up for the newsletter for the weekly updates (link in description), but in the meantime, here's a link to print the prompts: www.dropbox.com/s/yi3de5sar6slsop/Junk%20Journal%20July%202022_IG%20Graphic_1080x1080px.jpg?dl=0
I have that album too (or one very similar). I too think the pages are very thick. I had thought of soaking them in water and maybe peel off the top layer to make it thinner. Or I could use it as a cover but distress it with plain serviettes to give it texture. I'll just have to experiment. I look forward to seeing what you'll do with it!
I found one of those photo albums at an estate sale recently and I totally gutted it. Each page in mine can either be a single large frame or on the other side two frames. I plan to probably use the 1/2 pages in journals as hinged in pages. They are really beautiful pages.
So interested in what you will do with the photo album as I just bought a really similar one in a thrift store a few weeks ago myself with an idea of using it for a journal somehow. It has those thick pages with cut out ovals and rectangles for photos.
Hi Meg, thank you for hosting this challenge, I will definitly join in this year, and will most likely have a video on my channel each day ,using the prompts! :-)
I’m watching older videos of yours for inspiration as I’m planning to join in on junk journal January and I just picked up a similar album last week! I was thinking of doing the same thing and cut it up to use!! How crazy!!
I love that album! I would use the album as a journal. Personally I see all that white space on each page as places to write! Or add journaling cards to the circles and ovals. Thanks for sharing!
Hi I have a photo album like that I also found at a thrift shop. I turned mine into a paper doll house (not finished yet). I use card stock to cover the cut outs mine are all square or rectangle and I kind of make a pocket for the dolls. I also printed out pictures of furniture and the dressers I cut along the drawers and put the doll clothes in. Covered some others with pics of windows and doors. Still a lot left to do but it’s really fun.
Very NICE!! Love the Accordion style also! Just had to sketch some florals from that line art scrapbook paper! Inspired! 😉 I should learn how to create my own patterned paper! One day I expect! Thank You for sharing your creative time!! 🤗👍🌹- Mindi in Iowa
I have this beautiful cover to a photo album from February 5, 1896. I fell in love with the album when I found it a a true junk shop..... the back was cardboard, the spine was disintegrating when I bought it, so I trashed that part. The cover has a Japanese type scene w a boat, a man standing and using a pole to move the boat, but the boat has mother of pearl sails...I am going to use it as a cover when I get more skilled at making the covers...I can't wait...it is beautiful...I bought it because not only was I lovely but February 5th is my daughter's bd...she was just a couple of months old when I found it...I think I will make it for her...as an Xmas or bd present...
I participated in the accordion journal prompts and enjoyed it so much. I'm looking forward to the July Junk Journal prompts. Thank you for offering this project!
Hello from Sri Lanka. 🙏 I am new to junk journaling and looking forward to join JunkJournalJuly for the first time. Your channel is very inspiring and really enjoy watching your videos. 🥰
Junk Journal January 2022 was my first challenge and I loved the accordion journal! This would be a great time to try a new style of journal, but I may have to make another accordion journal. ;) I can't wait!
Lovely little journal Meg and looking forward to the prompts :) I found one of those albums. I took the pages out and made a journal from it. Using the pages for other projects 😀
I'm joining in for my first Junk Journal July ! Already signed up for your email and gathering papers for my JJJ ! Lol !! I can't wait! Hugs from a Kansas USA Grandma
Would you give details on the Tombow pen? It looks delicious! I’m excited to begin…again. I’ve been away from crafts for almost a year. Thanks for the inspiration. 😊
I am new to JJ and I enjoy just watching creative people like you. I am going to give this a go and create a first mini journal for me 😊 Just signed up.
I have the same Victorian photo album. I keep looking at it and trying to figure out what to do with it. I have had mine quite a while. I love it, but it’s so thick. Let us know if you figure out what to do with it. It’s the first day of junk journal July 2022. I have never done collage before. I ran amuck, panicked and started ripping and gluing random stuff. Oh man, it really looks bad. I might cut it off(I made an accordion style journal). I’m not sure what to do. I’ll go and think. Hugs, treen 💕💕💕
Hi new here! So looking forward to this. Question - junk journal I use for this July challenge should have 31 pages? Like a page for every day in July?
Hi Meg.. I have been following your prompts for JULY for some time now.. Now I have my own Ytube channel and plan to film my process this time.. I will have a slow stitch .. Japanese theme the my July. I look forward to watching every-ones videos and my personal journey.. Kind Regards Corrine (To be Loved Treasure by Corrine)
This will be my very first junk journal July, I’m very new to this journal community, I live in Australia. I’m lloking forward to JJJ. I was just wondering how many pages do you recommend. Thank you 😊
Yay, welcome!!! If you’re worried about having enough space you can always create loose and then bind everything together at the end - or use 2 journals for double the fun :)
Hi Sabrina, I've only done one JJJ before ❤ There is a new prompt each day. I did one single page per day, but I think it depends on how much time you have. Some people did a double page spread every day! I've got less time this year, so will probably do fewer pages and combine the daily prompts 💕 Good luck and have fun!
I see those Victorian photo album books all the time at car boots & always pick them up, but put them back again- those pages are just so thick & I can nEveR think how to use them 🤔
Good afternoon, I have been junk journaling for a few years now. (I retired!) I would like to try this out. My journals usually last for 3 months. I think I’m going to try the accordion style, as I have not done that before. What size is yours in inches? Thanks for sparking some joy in my crafting.
I am very excited to participate! I have signed up for your newsletter. Also tried to access the prompt file on dropbox, but it says that the file no longer exists. is there perhaps another link I can try? your accordion journal from last year is amazing! excited to be a new subscriber. :)
Oh that's strange, I can see it okay on my end - could you drop me an email meg@megjournals.com and I'll email you a copy :) And welcome to the journaling party!
I'm a brand new subscriber and am very much looking forward to creating my very first Junk Journal July!! Btw... Rachel from Roxys Creations announced this project on her RUclips channel. That's how I found out about this.
hey, yes I shared a dropbox link in the announcement email this week, you can find the prompt list here, drop me a DM on Instagram if you have any issues :) www.dropbox.com/s/yi3de5sar6slsop/Junk%20Journal%20July%202022_IG%20Graphic_1080x1080px.jpg?dl=0
yay welcome! totally up to you whether you do a page or a full spread - you could always create on separate pages and bind it together at the end if you're worried about space :)
all the links you'll need are in the description box - you don't need to sign up to the newsletter if you don't want to, you can just follow along with the prompt list :)
I participated for the first time last year. I accidentally stumbled across it watching Helen from @journalwithpurpose making a junk journal. I think I watched it a day before the challenge started so by the time I had made my first ever!! junk journal I was a few days behind. I managed to choose 15 of your prompts. I enjoyed it a lot and looking forward to the prompts!! I thought you might be able to prise apart the thick pages at the corners, usually cardboard is layered, this way you can get the piece to be a bit thinner. Maybe it would fit the cover of a B6 size journal?🤔😃🌻
No such thing as being behind with these challenges, it’s all about having fun and creating! :) Oh that’s a great idea, I’ll have to see if I can do that.
I'd like to be on your Junk Journal July email list! Thanks for all your inspiration, Meg. Think I'll make an accordion book since I haven't before and I love the way yours turned out. 💜

Thanks so much, I think I need to do this too!!
Eeeeeeeee! This is my first jjjuly! How many pages should I add? 31? 62?
Thanks for showing it for free on RUclips no Instagram
I really like this July junk journal. Very easy on the eyes and a really just the right size. 🇨🇦 (Mary)

This will be my first time doing a month long challenge. Instead of making a junk journal to use, can I alter a book to use instead?
