    Update: I now have a referral code where we both get £100 if you book a room in IQ for over 34 weeks. Just use the code REFER-200

    Pretty nice accomodation. This university room looks very comfortable and also well furnished
    Sophia, it's really a great place to study and finish your university studies. Thank you for this beautiful video

    The accommodation looks really nice! Kind of reminds me of where I was in first year as it was also quite a modern block. I was really lucky this year as my housemate was even more determined than me with house hunting and we spent so much time trying to find a house in Bath, and it paid off! Was a bit of a gamble as we hadn't seen it in real life before we signed and we couldn't go by reviews like you can with halls, but we were lucky and it is really lovely 😅

      I'm glad you found a nice place in Bath. Never done the whole uni house experience thing I've always stayed in halls. It must be nice but like you say it's risky if you aren't able to view the place beforehand, as I've definitely heard some student house horror stories but I'm glad you found a nice place 😊

    Hello Sophie ! Loved your room tour ! But I am wondering, with covid going on and regarding the safety of the people living there, are people allowed to not wear masks in the shared areas or is there like restrictions or things to do to not war a masks in the shared areas ? Have a great day

    • @GlobetrottingPolyglot
      @GlobetrottingPolyglot  3 года назад

      Hello Madara! I live with people I know and have lectures with so we just don't wear masks in a flat and stuff but I would assume there would be no rules about wearing them in a shared kitchen etc. because I haven't seen any and also nobody wants to wear masks in their own home while cooking their dinner. The staff in reception wear masks though and in the common room your are expected to wear masks but there's nobody there enforcing it, as the staff only tend to be in the common room when they are hosting events for the residents.
      If you're worried about nobody wearing masks in a shared flat maybe look into booking a studio although of course it is more expensive but I haven't heard of any other student accommodations having rules about wearing masks in shared flats I think is just in rooms such as the reception and common rooms that people are expected to wear them. IQ also have studios I have a friend who is staying in one and I think she seems to like it. But of course there are plenty of other studios available in Bangor to choose from too.
      I hope this helps :)

    do you have cleaning services for the room?

    • @GlobetrottingPolyglot
      @GlobetrottingPolyglot  2 года назад

      No we have to clean it ourselves and take the bins out ourselves. But would have to do that in a uni house anyway. Bangor uni halls do have a cleaner though or at least they did when I was living there in 2019

      @@GlobetrottingPolyglot what do you recommend? bangor uni halls, private halls or private studios?

    • @GlobetrottingPolyglot
      @GlobetrottingPolyglot  2 года назад

      @@fuatyilmaz-hq9bs for first year I recommend Bangor halls, as it’s a good way to meet other first years and everyone is new so wants to make friends and pretty much all first years stay there. However for returning students I personally think private halls are better. I cannot say anything about studios though as I never stayed in one during my time at Bangor uni

  • @amycharlotte7245

    Can you only stay in the usual student residence halls in your first year? Or can you continue to stay in them for the rest of your years there? Like at Ffriddroidd village

    • @GlobetrottingPolyglot
      @GlobetrottingPolyglot  3 года назад

      I stayed there in my second year so unless things have changed then you can. However, prices do go up each year although they did use to have an early rebooker deal where they freeze the prices. That being said I found IQ student accommodation to be cheaper than the newer buildings on Ffriddoedd and I got a double bed. Having lived in both I definitely prefer IQ, as a returning student because Ffriddoedd village just give me freshers vibes and it would get so noisy on a Wednesday night when everyone was going out and I feel like IQ is just a bit quieter. I also love that it’s on the Highstreet and right near the train station. Honestly though it depends what you want but it is mostly first years that do live on Ffriddoedd and that, the cheaper rent and double bed made me pick IQ. Plus you get cashback if you’re referred by a friend and get cashback for referring friends too so if you live with your friends you can all like invite each other and get cashback to make it even cheaper. But again I imagine that the prices may differ from year to year so definitely check.

      @@GlobetrottingPolyglot based on what you’ve said, I’m kinda interested in staying in Ffridfoedd village for the first year, only on a basis of making new friends and the overall experience, and then move to IQ accommodation after first year. Obviously students don’t have stacks of money due to expenses etc so I’m just trying to make sure I’m not throwing myself in the deep end since I’ll be coming - like you - from England to Wales, and I don’t want to start off with barely any money, thank you!

    • @GlobetrottingPolyglot
      @GlobetrottingPolyglot  3 года назад

      @@amycharlotte7245 that’s fair enough but if you’re not in first year yet I wouldn’t worry too much about where to live in second year because you’re plans could easily change as you might meet people who you want to live and then you will all have to agree on a place together so that could change a lot. I know a lot of people get houses together I’ve never done this though so don’t know much about it but I think people tend to start looking for accommodation for the following year just after the first reading week

      Depends on the type of room you book and where as they have similar accommodation in other cities. You can find all the information on their website
