I repaired mine after a week and this fixed my problem. Symptoms: Would not shift into 2nd until about 4,000 rpm, speedometer would not work, cruise control would not work, clunked into 2nd. It intermittently worked. Seemed to work better when car warmed up. The trans fluid streams out so have the prelubed new part ready to wiggle back in or have a fluid dish ready and stick a rag in the hole to slow trans fluid loss. Thanks fixit man.
Where is this located at on the passenger side? I see the CV joint but nothing that looks like this car am I looking in the wrong place ? Is it above the CV joint I can't find it. Thanks for letting us know your symptoms mine does everything yours was doing. My tool light comes on to.
@@joecable39nc It is on the passenger side but towards the center of the car. It is behind the cv joint. You have to jack it up high and on jack stand to get a good look and access. Very easy fix when you find it.

Great video and very helpful ideas here. Let me share two things: there is likely an ISS and an OSS. The video shows the changing of the OSS. They are different sensors. Second, you may lose a lot of transmission fluid. Be prepared to catch it. or be ready to swap the old OSS for the new OSS as fast as you can. :-)
For those asking symptoms, I have a 2006 Ford Focus zx4 2.0l that I have to do this on. My o/d light turned orange and started flashing. I lost my speedometer, and my mileage indicator as it appeared - - - across. My check engine light immediately came on, and I couldn’t shift gears while accelerating. I let her cool down for 45-60 minutes before trying to get her back home. I went to Autozone and this is what they said it was. It has been very warm the last couple of days so I’m wondering if heat is a factor also.
Got an '07 Focus and every now and then, the car will do a hard shift into 2nd at parking lot speeds and the O/D light will start flashing. It'll reset when you turn the car off and back on again. Could this sensor possibly fix that issue?

Did it give you a check engine light? i have same problem with my ford kuga ,the ESP light comes on and it reduced my acceleration..can it be the fault cuz of the output speed sensor ?the code i've got on the OBD2 it's P1900 OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE.

@@fixitman8028 mine does this also my speed odometer stays at 0. Most times it will start to move after 20 mph or so sometimes it does not till it redline. Some days it shifts perfectly
@@joecable39nc Exactly what was just wrong with mine! Replaced speed sensor and hopefully not a bad wire as they are pretty brittle! Did manage to put electrical tape on wires where harness fell apart! Check engine is still on!

Hard to diagnose without actually looking at your car. The fix I show is for an automatic transmission. If this sensor feeds information for your cars vehicle speed it will be a candidate. Make sure you check the wiring and connector as well
Sometimes I spray a little oil on the connector to help. Just need to squeeze the clip and pull. The older the car is the more brittle the plastic becomes making it tougher. I think the penetrating oil may help. Good luck

Look for that round motor mount as a reference point. Ridiculous once you see it.

Will this make you not go in reverse my 1st and second won’t kick in as well until I pick up speed
I don’t think that sensor would prevent the vehicle from going into reverse

Not sure. If speed sensor is in same location just check with parts store for correct part number and you should be good
