Thank you for sharing! Your problems and solutions are a lot of fun to watch. I know you're back home by now, and I hope your next video shows you enjoying some fine sailing as a reward for your persistence.
I was scared my first couple times out at night. Once I got used it I love night sailing. If there is no moonlight it gets sketchy but in a full moon it is glorious! Trust yourself, trust you navigation and trust your boat.
My wife and I are very appreciative of the honesty and partnership you show in your videos. It gives us the belief that we can do it as well. We love that you show all the prep that goes in to a trip. ! Love you both!
I RUclips sailed for 10 years but when covid hit I decided to learn to sail. Bought a Hobie 16 but quickly outgrew it. Now I sail a Catalina 22 and I absolutely love it. Cheers from Fort Lauderdale 🍻
Love the latest video! Some of the things you do reminds me of the crazy stuff we used to get into in your father's garage. I cannot believe he didn't smack our heads together for some of the dumb things we did with his tools. I can't wait to see your video from the trip. BTW, love the studder edits. Some things never change with you! lol.
John Kretschmer recommends running the jack line down mid-ship. Keep tether short. If you lose balance, you don't go over the sides. I've heard getting back on-board is nearly impossible.

I wanted to ask other boaters if they saw us but I forgot. We removed ours now, maybe we will never use it again as we don't plan on sailing at night in open water or at least after the trip back we're too scared to do that again now.
Great video I used to have some governmental clients in the Keys and Monroe County. We used to say ; there is the dream of the keys and there is the reality. I know as a general aviation pilot, I hate Key West. The weather is rather unpredictable year round. I also think in your case you have to deal with The Coast Guard and The Key West Naval Air Station as well as some ecological sensitive areas. For any pilots out there, this is an IFR flight plan only in my opinion. Good Luck!
I'm sitting in Key West right now after sailing my catalina 25 down from Ft. Lauderdale! Would love to say hi if the timing matches up. Could also potentially swap onto my mooring ball in Garrison bight, apparently it's rare for spots to come up and I got really lucky yesterday getting a ball.
@@AdventuresInParadise Not bad at all, the keys and offshore reefs really kept the sea state manageable. I was also pretty selective about sailing days, not on a schedule. Hope you had a good experience!
What temperature do you have the over heat alarm set for? Its a pretty great idea. I DO have an overheat alarm on my Pearson 27, but its simply a alarm on the panel and no real indication.
I can't recall, maybe like 200. The instructions say it can be changed but I can't get it to work, it's set where it's set, but it's better than nothing.
I love the channel..shows normal guy like me doing something...I'm in Texas and was going to buy land in Florida always wanted to live there.. the industry of Houston not sure can find in Florida can I? I'm a industrial diesel mechanic and fabricator of metal. Not sure if work . Maybe can tell me I'm wrong. Want to buy a Acker of land and 40 by 60 steel building.. can I do that for 150k like in Texas??? Got a junk 38 foot sailboat to restore aswell. Give me comment love the channel... hope I not have 2 high hopes

Safe travels!! Looking forward to the next video…
Thank you!
Cant wait for this series. Thanks for making this.
Nice!
Great video I have no experience on the ocean, but I sail at Lake Powell and Utah at night just to get out of the heat
deck lights on your spreaders are invaluable to pointing forward and to aft - LEDs
Yea those are nice. I plan to never sail at night ever again, at least not on this particular boat!

Yea, the air chisel. Thanks, we made it back... insane trip, heavy weather, big waves... we are trying to recover as we just walked through the door.

Yes, I've seen that also... same with towing a line, they say you can't climb back at speed.
Great video. Wish I could join you guys on the sailing but I need a sailboat, 😊
At least now a days we can watch people do things. I watched sailing videos for years before ever doing it.
SERIOUSLY appreciate the videos... Gives me more confidence.
Could you give a link to your engine temp gauge, and the AIS/radar? TIA!
Thanks for watching!

8:22 FTW (wind)...LOL
LOL. The entire trip every time I sat down... 100 hours worth.

We've been there many times and in our other boat and loved it. We only live 250 miles from there, as the crow flies or sailboat sails!

We just got back and I didn't check the comments, sorry. How was your trip down? We had really high winds and big waves.

Butterflies time just remember Sam Holmes sails single handed across the Atlantic in a 28 footer
Yea I just watched that again last week... he's crazy... so it would be less of a big deal to sail 250 miles.
I see Venus & Jupiter. LED flood lights on the bow might help you out.
I'm rooting for you guys, get out there, your adventure awaits! ⛵
