*I do have indeed a question:*
I am not very into the Shoo'em up genre as a whole but I dig certain games like *Judgement Silversword - Rebirth edition* for the Wonder Swan (SwanCrystal).
And this is my issue: as the game is a very niche JP only game there is very little English (or German) info on the game.
*Do you happen to know any good/active source for information on Judgement Silversword - Rebirth Edition?*

Shooters -- or "shmups" (aka, old school vertically/horizontally-scrolling aerial shooters) is the ultimate twitch-gaming genre!!! NOTHING compares to the ZEN-like high from playing these types of games. Infernal Hails to MJR for giving a shout-out to this amazing genre. And all hail STUDIO MUDPRINTS. Their YT channel has got me into more shmups (especially lesser known ones) that anyone else. My massive shoot-'em-up collection -- which began in the 90's with awesome classic Genesis shooters like Gaiares, Sagaia, Whip Rush, Arrow Flash, Thunderforce II-III, Bio-Hazard Battle, Insector X, Hellfire, Twin Cobra, etc. -- owes an epic debt of gratitude to STUDIO MUDPRINTS. So great to see that the O.G. shoot-'em-up genre is making such a fantastic comeback.

You're far too kind. As an interesting by-product from doing our productions, we have perhaps the most extensive library of shooting games in Atlantic Canada, which makes for great meetups. We might even have one of the top-10 largest nationwide, though I'm not 100% confident in that, haha. It's always neat to hear ho we've rekindled or bolstered peoples' love for STG, especially since we only really set out at first to do a quick 5-minute vlog series. It kind of got out of hand. But viewers like you are what have kept us going for what is now out tenth (!) year, making us arguably the longest-running STG review show in the world today. Thank YOU!!

    1.Raiden 2 (arcade) from 1993
Comments from RUclips-Is the second game in the famous Raiden series.
It was the game that first featured the effect of shrapnel flying everywhere from explosions, which was really crazy for its time...
Wow, this game is like the battlefield 3 of shmups. Everything feels like it reacts rather realistically, and there is a lot of detail put into environmental effects. (for the time anyway.)
The way debris falls to the ground and leaves a dust cloud or splashes in the ocean, that tank in the water left a crater UNDER the water, the tank tracks, etc...
    2.Trigon 2 (arcade-Konami) from 1990
Really great game with excellent bosses
3.Air Buster (arcade) from 1990-This game have excellent atmosphere, you get feel like aliens really attacked the Earth
    4.Dangerous Seed (arcade-Namco) from 1989
Technically very good job done, effects and smoothness of the game are superb, also has good sound effects
    5.Salamander 2 (arcade) from 1996
What to say about this game...It's great, some bosses are easy to defeat but try loop 2
    6.R-type (arcade-Irem) from 1987
Legendary game,I remember when I saw this game back in the 80's,I was amazed by the look, graphics and sound effects, home computers back then had 64 kilobytes of RAM just for compare :0)

    • @normallyimnuts767
      @normallyimnuts767 6 лет назад +1

ValiantAleste _ I generally find MOST Cave sequels to iterate on the prior and in turn produce a superior title. Ibara is probably the only Cave title I've been deprived of entirely except for MAME.
Didn't mean to come across as having a superior opinion...as it is exactly that, an opinion. I do struggle for reasons to play the earlier Mushehima, ESP., or Dodonpachi games over their follow ups though. And can't help but push the 360 a bit above, if only speaking of Cave titles. Once including Deathsmiles 1 n 2, Aikatana, and Pink Sweets/Muchi Muchi Pork compilation.....its of little comparison imo.
Regarding the 360.....The Triangle Service releases are great as well. Bullet Soul IB, Trigger Heart Exilia, the 3 Treasure HD ports, Under Defeat HD, Ginga Force, Radigry, Strike Witches Neo, Caladrius Blaze, and Raiden 4 also come to mind when I think of it. Both UDHD and Raiden 4 were released on the PS3, along with Ketsui being the lone Cave showing on the system. But that just reminds me of how badly Sony got shafted by Cave last generation.
In theory, the idea of pushing all of the Cave shooters to Microsoft's platform in order to generate console sales in Japan was smart. In practice however, the overall effect of it was useless. Thank God the large majority of those shooters were released as region free discs. I'd wager most of their sales were in the US and EU.
End rant. Have a good one!

We liked it for what it was. It's absolutely flawed, but still pretty fun, especially with 4 players.

Oh man. I'm finally joining the 21st century and buying a Swtich. That's fun enough, but seeing all these shmups has got me pretty pumped. I had an extensive shmup collection for my old Dreamcast so I'm very excited to be able to play some of those same games on the Switch!

These games are so cool - I just wish I was better at them
As a kid I played 1943 on NES for hours and hours. None of us were very good but we just loved playing it and trying to get further and further
I'll have to check some of these out

I'm just hoping we get some Touhou games ported over to the switch, sort of like a legacy collection. Probably won't happen, but I'd rather see those on the eshop or physical instead of the fan games getting releases.

Was there ever a doubt? If there is Ikaruga on a system, the list should be called "Top 10 shoot'em ups without Ikargua" to make this list fair.
I am still waiting for a physical release of Ikaruga on the Switch. I hope the teaser Nicalis have shown will turn out to be an actual physical release!
