I love this mic and even though its original $500 USD price tag was pushing it, I still wanted to get one. But the price increase to almost $600 priced itself out for me. If they could make a cheaper version with just filter #3, no switch or light and still keep the transformer. I would gladly pick one up. All those extra features are nice to have but not at a super premium price.
Wow, Nick is on fire - impressive drumming! This mic has a beautiful design and excellent build quality. The sound is close the the D112, but a bit less technical and more neutral sounding.
It’s a minor error, but all three filters have the midrange cut. The first has the cut and low end boost. 2 is just the mid cut. Third is low boost, mic cut, and high end boost.
Nick - sometime could you do a comparison between a 22" and 24" bass drum from the same series. I like birch or maple birch wood for base drums. Maybe a comparison of Yamaha stage custom bass (22/17" and 24/15"). Or maybe the Tama starclassic performer bass (22/16" and 24/16"). I suspect the 24" will be louder but the 22" may have the louder and more distinct attack.
Just make the same mic with ONLY Filter 3 to have it's full EQ and lower the price because compared to other mics it's too expensive and I can't justify paying 2X or 3X times more for a dynamic Kick mic when I can just EQ another mic

Hey… I was able to get one of these off of reverb for $488. It is as amazing as it sounds!
I know that this is supposed to be a product review of the AKG D12 VR microphone, but I just came to hear Nick play some dope drum solos

Killer Drummer
I’d like to hear it a bit deeper into the drum. That front head flapping is bothersome.
That price just... hurts
great mic, but the recent price increase has gone a little too far.
Very cool! I'll have to sell a kidney but it's worth it.
I’m sure it’s a minor error but this is not a D112 as shown in the title
They are calling the D12Vr the D112 Mk2.. which its not, at all,, haha..

Yeah I can get the Lewitt DTP 640 Rex for less and the Audio-Technica AE2500 Dual Element for about $20.00 less than this mic
This is D12 VR not D112
Ill stick with the d6 lol
