The hood ornament on the limo is Tim Schafer himself :) A classic game and its aged very well. Roy Conrad was awesome as Ben its a shame he passed away, it would have been great to hear his voice in a Full Throttle sequel. He was in Rebel Assault 2 as Captain Merrick and was in movies like Patch Adams and The Wizard.
@@pushinguproses you ever played jercarnies playground ofvdsrstrcthion ever itbwas another lucastarts game that kind of comical whre it sthee merc guys who get involved in war between the USA and middle east I wanna say
Considering that the villain from that was called Limburger, it featured a female mechanic, a biker gang and I can't remember what else. I thought one copied ideas from the other when I was younger.
I wish more games utilized sprite work throughout an entire game like this :\ Always impresses me fuck tons more than ultra super realistic 3D polygon models
Maruice Lamarche (brain from pinky and the brain also Egon Spengler from The Real Ghostbusters/Extreme Ghostbusters) also had a couple of roles in Full Throttle.
6:34 my favorite part of the game. I remember my dad getting this game and we tried playing it on some old ass PC which was so much so that it couldn't run the game properly. Thus I still had, and still have, the CD for the game that when we got a better one years later that I played through all of it and loved it. They also included a handkerchief/headband with copies of the game back then I unfortunately do not have anymore. Too bad games don't do that anymore.
One of my favorite adventure games ever. It's so freaking metal and has the best climax ever. Lovely review as always ;) Nothing like seeing one of my favorite reviewers geek out over an awesome game like this.
Loved this game, one of my favorites "Ripburger, did this to you?""Yeah...he wants to lay off workers, sell it off to foreigners, start making mini-vans...You understand me? MINI-VANS!!"
Now I feel like a really old comment of mine actually reached over the channel to you, and I can't lie to you, watching your review made me remember all the great things about playing this game, while you kept a lot of cool stuff hidden from us. This game is classic, and people should try it if they love adventure games, bikes and rock and roll. Btw, on a side note I'm surprised in a good way that you had Mortal Kombat in your background too.
LOVED this review and agree 1000%. This really brought me back to the day I bought this game on CD-ROM and became utterly absorbed. I've shown non-gamers Full Throttle, just playing through it myself so they could see how bad ass it is. It's one of the few games that can equally entertain whether your watching or playing. With some of the best writing, voice acting and overall storytelling I've seen in a game to this day, and its gritty, snarky tone, it's one of my main inspirations for Jack Houston. Thanks for giving this title some serious love, you rock! \m/
"...upon getting it back with a little help from our good friend, violence..." HAHAHAHA! I loved your choice of words and your delivery here. Well said!
Man, such nostalgia. When I was a kid, I would watch my dad play this and then I would get a chance to play. I remember getting stuck in the junkyard with the dog that you had to trap in order to get past. I kept getting frustrated until I finally figured out what to do. Those were the days.
My first computer had this game as a gift and it was therefore the first PC game I ever played. Blame nostalgia, but this is one of my favorite games to this day. Great review and priceless contribution by Needles.
I have always loved the ben character, the soulful rebel with not only muscle, but quite a bit of street smarts as well. I was always impressed at how well the characters presented themselves. Practically ALL of them are so believable.
This was one of my favorite games from Lucasarts. I still own it and I still have the box art too. When I played a little of GTA V. I went out of my way to custom make several bikes in memory of Ben.
Yeah I loved this when I was a kid. I was disappointed that the sequels got canceled though given the ending as I got older I decided that a spiritual successor or indirect sequel would be better then continuing the story.
Thank you very much for this review. Thanks to this review, I played Full Throttle and it is an amazing game. Hell, a lot of the games you reviewed, I played afterwords. You never steer me wrong. So once again, great review and a huge fan. :)
I bloody well love this game. It's the ONLY game on PC I own that I took with me everywhere I went (I moved countries twice, and cities 7 times over) and I still replay it at least once a year. It's like putting in a favourite movie.
I have such fond memories of this game. I have a playthrough video saved and watch it often, usually playing in the background as I work. Wish I could buy the soundtrack!
Not quite sure why I'm bringing it up in this video but I was watching someone play a game that I'm a little surprised you haven't covered yet (as far as I know), The Whispered World, it strikes me as a game that you'd enjoy, great puzzles, fantastic characters, superb humour and some interesting mechanics. (to be fair I forgot it even existed till Kikoskia started LPing it). great video by the way took me back a few years.
I loved this game, I got it in a pack with some other stuff with a PC my dad bought back in the day. It's funny that it doesn't seem to get much nostalgic love... But thanks for adding some!
I know I'm a little late to the party, but I did hear somewhere that Full Throttle was supposed to have some sort of drug hallucination bits, but Lucas Arts axed the idea for not being "kid friendly", but still managed to put out this game. : / Though, from that idea, we got Psychonauts, so yay!
Full Throttle was released on May 19, 1995 Nearly 30 years ago Moreover ,your video was released little over 10 years ago. May 05, 2014. I STILL enjoy your work!! May 31, 2024.
Full Throttle is something special! Adventure game yes, action game...well yes, movie yes. Yes it has action and QTEs but not frustrating action like Sierra or new games that call themselfs "adventure games". You know games with QTEs and so on like TTG. Short: It´s a genre for itself.
Great review, I remember this game, and remember having basically the same impression; flawed but good. I noticed also the video you link to at the end... is this video.
This game was always interesting but the Driving/Combat sections got rather annoying to me. It would be cool to see a new Full Throttle game but I feel people would try to make it a beat em up or something more actiony.
I liked the idea of driving around an open world on a motorcycle, but yeah, it did get old. It did bring a different element to the adventure game genre, so I appreciate that aspect of it.
WTF... your channel is 100% about my childhood... lol ç.ç (I was watching the other videos, but that one was a critical hit in my heart x.x) And this particular game is the only one that I still have the CD+Manual... felling so proud right now xD Ah yea, you got a sub! (Hur dur...). Keep the gold coming : )
Yep, had this on my Midwest Micro 486DX2 50mhz with 4mb of ram and my sweet 2mb VESA Local bus Diamond Stealth video card.. it and Sam and Max hit the Road my two go to Lucas Arts games.. You should try the Deponia series... (for a new take on adventure games)
This was my first adventure game. Had a neighbor that let me borrow it and the first two Monkey Island games he'd gotten from another friend. Eventually just bought it off him. Lost track of how many times I played through it Even ordered The Gone Jackels' album off the Internet (which was a big deal back then for me.) Still got both, though I can't run the original disc anymore. Not that I matters, bought the PS4 remaster when it came out.
I really wish they would have done a 20th anniversary "remastered" version. Like they did with Grim Fandango, this has always been one of my favorites. Heck, 20 years later, my friends and brother STILL talk about it, or reference it.
Another one that's in my personal Gaming Hall of Fame, but the biker battle segments did drag on a bit. Finding the secret entrance into Corley Motors was also a pain, as the clue is a bit misleading and could've been worded better. Still, a classic, glad to see it given its due.
The issue is that the wording *is* the puzzle. When you ask Mo about it you have to pay attention to everything she's saying and it becomes more obvious what the intent was. It also helps that trying to take her advice at face value won't really work when you realize how much space that would cover. And it might just be added to the remastered version, but now they have a really obvious trigger on the wall kind of side-stepping most of the puzzle.
One thing I remember about this game was trying to get it to run. For some reason it got really finicky with the hardware in the computer me and my friend were using. We finally got it but it just kept crashing. Can't remember what the issue was, I think it was either a sound card problem or a compatibility issue with the graphics card at the time.
3:04 that might be the most hilarious joke ever made by Luccas art. I mean, you've got this dark, brute, mature game and then suddenly, out of the blue, you have this villains that wants to make... Mini Vans??! Just think about it. It's like, I don't know, the villain of, let's say... Mortal Combat just wanted to be a clown or a cake baker. (I don't know, I just took a random game i never played and a random purpose, but you get the idea).
Oh, and speaking of the bunnies. The line that Ben says when you attempt to use the bunny box on the wrong object left made me have to step away from the computer, I was laughing so hard. Oh, those were the days.
I hadn't seen this game in 20 years and they just released the remastered for free on Xbox game pass and I played it all the way through, and I should suggest that anybody who hasn't played it should keep a walkthrough open just in case
One of my goals in film making is to make some type of live action adaptation of Full Throttle. Whether it's a film adaptation or a series that continues the story of Ben and Maureen. What do you think the biggest obstacle would be in adapting this story? Story wise I mean. Obviously getting Lucasarts to allow such a thing to happen is an obstacle all its own.
funny fact about the french VO for Ben : Michel Vigné who also claimed to be a biker dude when he was interviewed about his role as VO for Mickey Rourke in The Expendables ; my inner lucasarts games cant restrain a chuckles thinking of mister Vigné as Full Throttle main protagonist.
I had a feeling you'd get to this game sooner or later. ;) It's actually pretty high up on my own radar to cover on my show. I haven't looked into getting it just yet but probably will soon. :)
hello! seeing as you have reviewed a few Tim Schaefer's games have you thought of reviewing psychonauts or brütal legend? they may not be adventure titles in the point and click fashion but the are hilarious and have a unique style to them, they are also pretty fun too
Loved this game as a child and still do. Did you know you can get a second box of bunnies and use themto throw in a turning machine somewhere? I remember figuring that out as a kid and feeling even more schoked then the minefield part.
snurkje de snurkerd Yes, you can shove them into the cooler blades of a running heavy truck engine during the finale. Poor heroic bunnies. It doesn't advance the story though.
Damn, awesome review as always. And I've never heard about this game, even though I've played tons of adventure games. The graphics and aesthetics looks really cool too. Have to pick this up, if it's on GOG or something
I fully anticipate Needles having a role on _Sons of Anarchy_ soon.
The Needles of Anarchy! >:3
I love the fact Mark Hamill voiced Rip.
The hood ornament on the limo is Tim Schafer himself :)

"Ripburger, did this to you?""Yeah...he wants to lay off workers, sell it off to foreigners, start making mini-vans...You understand me? MINI-VANS!!"
A satire of real life that, like most such cautions, went unnoticed
GIrl, you simple NAILED IT! I'm laughing out loud: the Lego motorcycle scene was genious. Awesome review.
One of the Cheat Commandos from Homestar Runner is named Ripberger after the villain of this game.
So happy you reviewed this. Glad to see others appreciate it!
I love your channel. This was my second favorite point and click next to Maniac Mansion! Thanks for making this!

Never got past the "getting gas from the tower/police hovercraft" part as a 9 year-old with ESL. Had fun replaying that intro over and over though.

Where there any point and click games based on the Kaman riders series
LOVE this game! Heavy on spoilers though, so watch out anyone who hasn't played this first. Great review PUR!
