This base is located in the Bulbo Tree Forest at the entrance to the Lost River.
This was filmed in creative mode so the reaper didn't attack my base.

@@MichaelWilliams-ql4gyI wonder if other creatures have an instinct to not attack the sea emperor juveniles. The adult sea emperor we see is clearly smart and telepathic, so maybe it can make other creatures hesitate to attack

weirdly enough, if the Reaper isn't trying to kill you, this is pretty neat, though I would be scared out of my mind leaving the base.

@@kingston5469 Actually, I read somewhere that, when in the observatory, a different script is run, so are technically NOT in a regular location. Ergo, the leviathans wil ignore you. The same happens if you build it in the Dead Zone, the Adult Ghost Leviahtnas will leave as you are "not in their territory" as far as the game understands it.

Press F1 on PC to get some biome details and Observatory is one...
I used to shit my pants when I first approached the Aurora and heard this. Now, a Reaper observatory base is mandatory in my playthroughs. They’re just big animals trying to survive like any other, I love ‘em.

After a year of playing the reaper roar has actually become relaxing despite being the most terrifying creature in the game

@@Snapguy16 throughout my playthrough i never even got attacked by a reaper,they literally just went past me while i was going to the aurora which might have been like 3 or 4 times
At one point i saved the game and went to the dunes with my seamoth to intentionally find a reaper,and it didnt even scare me much

After all these years of hearing the roars of the reaper, sea emperor and ghost. They are very soothing and nice, cept the brimstone smoking jerk that shoved me into a wall once cutting of a few hours of progress.
Though there is only one that truly gets my adrenaline high and my heart rate up…

I made my main base on the gun island. Chasing some stuff, the Reaper at the back side of the island drifted towards the front. So I took my seamoth and began herding it back to its original area, before returning home

@@kingston5469 Well, I love how lively the world seems with all the creatures in it. So I kill as few as possible (only killed 2 juvenile ghost leviathans, one had beef with me and the other was in the middle of my route to my Lost River base)
This is really relaxing though like honestly. The background water noises rlly add to it, helps with my writing. I might srsly use this for actual relaxation... Which is the most concerning part.

Haha! Indeed! This was more of one of those being in imminent danger, and the fact that the danger lurks somehow gives a sense of security, while at the same time giving you the experience of isolation (even though you're not alone).

I like to build a base next to the QEP most playthroughs bc of the portals and the mountains having easy access to the Lost River and Lava zones. I named the reaper who chills near the island Mr. Cuddles.

Reapers still give me mental issues when it comes to fear in this game. Its weird, Ive prawn suit punched several ghosts to death (one followed me to safe shallows and didn’t leave, ended up a blue St Louis arch; the other was a juvenile that I regretted killing almost immediately after) but reapers? They still trigger some thalassophobic fear in me. This, however, genuinely has something relaxing in it, similar to how listening to Jurassic Park jungle ambience punctuated with distant tyrannosaur roars has a relaxing vibe to me.

I remember making my base just outside of the mushroom biome at the border of the dunes ,you would hear reapers yelling in the distance,it’s oddly asmr
In its own way, it is. I was especially hypnotized by the distant echos of its calling. Made me feel the "something lurking in the deep" vibe, while I wallow in false security.
