I am a hobby blues guitar player interested in sax but do not want to spend too much the "time" with embouchure problems etc. + I cannot make too much noise (appartement) So a wind controller would be ideal. Not interested in synth sounds but more in the "acoustic" sounds like the sax emulations.

Did you add some reverb to the original sound of the YDS when recording this video (and the comparison with your real saxophone)? I watched other reviews and the sound generated by the YDS is a bit dry/dull.
YAMAHA's previous generation WX5 and WX11 have very sensitive lip control function, which is also an indispensable function of saxophone. I want to know why this function is not designed on YDS150? Thank you

The pure acoustic sensations of an acoustic sax cannot be matched. But as a non sax player - I am a hobby guitarist- I think the sax sounds you show are more than fine. I think you just are too familiar with a real sax sound. A while ago I had the same discussion about the roland aerophone. Sax players were "complaining" about the sax sounds but thought the "distorted guitar sound was very good. Now as a guitarist I know how a guitar should sound and "synthesised" versions just don't do it for me. Long story short : the background you have colours your experience. But I repeat : thanks for the review !

Does it respond to bite/reed pressure? It looks like they use a real reed and mouthpiece so I'm thinking probably not, which would automatically make it inferior to the Roland. If it lets you do mouth vibrato I would buy this in a heartbeat.
Can you easily and quickly transpose the notes to be able to play all arrangements in your favorite scale. If so, is it done through the app or can you do it with the hardware as with the EWI and Roland Aerophone?
As a lot of people, I tried to run the application and concluded that the app never detect the YDS-150. finally, a lot of functions to customize a digital instrument....but only for some percent of people. How a brand as Yamaha can sell such instrument without testing enough the corresponding app ?
I've downloaded the app but can't get it to work with the YDS-150 (I'm using a Huawei P8). It's in the list of paired Bluetooth devices according to my mobile, but not even recognised by the app itself - not even listed on the app at all. It just has '-----' where it says 'Connected instrument' on the Connect screen no matter how many times I pair and unpair it. The Voice and Fingering screens are blank and just say 'Connect to a compatible instrument.' on there. Why isn't it working? Does anyone know how to make it work or is it a lost cause?
Can it stream sound from other device (like backing tracks) to play over it and get all output to the headphones? I guess this can normally done through the AUX input, but does it do it also via bluetooth?

YDS-150 problem by playing - when I lift a finger from the key the tone still lasts, pressing the next key does not change the tone immediately, only a few moments later. Any idea how to resolve this problem?
Can't remember what it's called, but there is a setting for this. On the range of 0-20 its preset to 10, and a lot of videos I've watched mention turning this feature off. Sorry I can't remember the name of this feature, try checking the booklet that came with the instrument

check your app settings- I've seen that some people accidentally have their auto shut-off set for a shorter timeframe than what they actually want it to be. Hope this helps!
I bought it today and after connecting with the App there is in my App sounds only available U-01 up to U-20. How can I get the other sounds as shown in your Video? By the way a very good instrument and I have already a lot of fun the first some hours. I bought ist for my 65. Birthday and I play all Saxes in Live, but this will bring some fun and experience at home without loud sounds for the neighbours. Pls. tell us more in RUclips also how to connect the APP by Bluetooth, I had some problems to get the right process and the right keys for it. Also it should be possible to connect with USB to Midi sampler by USB Midi interface to a Midi sampler or something else and more sounds. With this is should be possible also to use different Midi sounds also in addition to the existing sounds already implemented. What do you think about this? Would be fine to hear from you. Maybe there are some good possibilities for further experiences.
I found out about this. There is no direct link to the voicegroups and voices in the voicetab . It is just that you can assign any of the voices and edit the settings to U-1 to U-20 memoryslots.
Sorry it's not a wind controleur. I had the opportunity to take it in hand. It is light. Sax sounds are classical sampling but this is not a revolution. To work with the headset it may be interesting but it remains expensive as an acquisition. But it may have followers just for this function. I thought I could drive my Swam Engine virtual instruments. This is not the case. Huge disappointment.
I hope to have this amazing instrument one day but it's expensive for a student that has to pay for his own instruments. Love your music!!!!

Does it have a fully functional usb midi out, so that you can play softsynths ( eg swam saxophones) with it as a midi controller ?
Yes! Just remember to put your expression mode on, so the breath-controller will be functional.

A lot of great synths! And you can combine every preset synth with effects, filter and son on.
I wonder if the fingerings could be programmed so, that you can play all pieces as if they were written in C flat.

Hi, understand apart from U01 to U22 voices, there are A,S,B ,T voices. But it did not reflect in the app. How do I configure the extra voices?

What's the build quality like? Does it feel like it could hold up for a while?
It's really good. If you take care of the YDS the same way you do with a normal horn, it will last.

It is 100% silent when you use headphones. Your neighbours would not hear a thing!
