Qual basically invented Frierens version of Avada Kedavra, and was one of the oldest Demons, to the point that he outgrew Demon evolution, because he still looked more like a Monster, and not a Human like younger Demons do. Also the only opponent Himmels group could not defeat 4vs1 and had to seal him instead. And he was respected by all Demons, even the Demon King.
Fern also started using blitzing Zoltarak spells after witnessing Qual do it. Qual deduced mid-fight that even if Zoltarak can be defended, it still takes more mana to defend against it than to cast it.
Probably shows how the overspecialization of demons is not that much of a problem for them if they survive long enough to study the meta used against their trick. They are one with their spell, can easily be crushed if you counter it but also can re-perfect it if given enough time.
I noticed that he was able to recreate a shield just through theory. I assume that modern shield magic is just another form of Zoltraak. As in it uses the same principles
Not theory, instinct (which comes from practicing theory). Theory requires more time, he instinctively knew how to use the shield just by observing it once. He probably had Serie level magic theory knowledge to pull that off on instinct. That is an insane feat, that is often overlooked by the community.
@@eliscore I assume it's age. Some demon generals and other stronger demons look more like monsters or have proportions or other characteristics that don't look human (e.g. Divine Revolte, Qual, Demon King, and that demon general that wiped out Frieren's village who looked huge). Look at the Demon King. He's quite big and probably significantly larger than knights based on his size given the distance between him and the hero party's POV in a manga panel. Could be a combination of power + age as well. As a demon gets more powerful, their need to look human becomes less, so with age they become less human-like. In general I think there's a disproportionate amount of large demons, particularly male demons. Almost all of the male sages of destruction are significantly larger than the Hero of the South in a panel showing all of the most powerful demons fighting the Hero of the South, with one of them looking like they're just a taller human.
It's interesting how the more "intelectual" demons genuinely liked the king. They feel no loyalty towards him in the sense of dying for him, but i believe they still felt enough "preference" as to try to avenge him in the case of Qual, or regret his death like Solitar.
Solitar more likely "lamented" his death. As she admits Demonkind is better off without coexistence ideas. Your point still stands for the most part though as i also believe she genuinely liked him (which also serves as a reflection of Match, who shared his ideals but despised him).

@zigazdovc6175 but that's more speculation. We don't know how old he is but that may explain why he looks more monstrous than a typical demon

Imagine in a world of swords someone was walking around with the only gun. Not just a gun but an AK 47 😊
I love this about Frieren, some dude from chapter 3 is still being brought up and respected all the way up to El Dorado
It all comes back to Zoltraak

Schlatt died for him tho
@@darksouls2issupreme162 No,Schlat said he was doing what he was doing for the good of demonkind.
