Just saw you play at Louis’s in Saskatoon, and since then I have not been able to stop listening to this. Between the story, the song, and that SINGING baritone guitar, this track is perfect. Thank you for writing such a wicked song
I recently found out about the amazing story of Spade Cooley then looking through Cooley's wiki page I found this recently released song about Cooley...Super well done Boy Golden ..You did a great job on this song, It Kinda sounds like an early Bob Dylan singing his hit song "Hurricane".
Great tune! Helluva story. I had heard years ago that Dennis Quaid bought the rights to Spade's story and was going to turn it into a movie but it never panned out....
I have a couple of Spade's hit songs in my collection and I listen to Ray Benson on Sirius/XM. He's the frontman for the western swing band, Asleep at the Wheel. One day, he told a condensed version of Spade's history, but Wikipedia and Boy Golden brought it all together. Sure sounds like it would make a good movie plot. I like your style so yeah, you have a new subscriber!
Been loving your music since I saw you open for sheepdogs (you were one of those openers that stole the show). Anyways, this might be my favourite song of yours. I love storytelling songs and it’s able to tell a story while still staying true to the melody and reprise. Beautiful song. Keep it up!
Love the baritone guitar in this song and great story line. This should be a major hit!
Hell ya brother
Yeeee god bless America
Such A Sick Tune!! Catchy As Hell

No idea this was a true story until I read the comments...now I'm wondering about Aging Mr. Riley...
