    • @megalamanooblol

      @@kalliste23 Smoke dischargers are also a thing on a Soviet vehicles, these are 2 different systems. Smoke grenades allow you a smoke screen in seconds, these days those smoke discharges are automatic and tied to laser warning system or some other passive defense sensors. Engine smoke is something that can give you longer last screen to allow you retreat or obscure movement of the vehicles following the tank with ESS. I imagine by the nature of how ESS is working, that smoke will be quite hot, not sure it is hot enough to completely conceal the vehicle from hi-grade thermal, I imagine will very much depend on ambient conditions.

It's just so stupidly violent, noisy, dirty, and my god the way the fan blasted a 30ft tall tornado of dust behind it. Say what you will, but they have so much personality and so much presence about them. Absolutely excellent. Well done on getting it fixed!

    i'm glad you mentioned the SMOKE mode, i remember someone telling me this years back, that diesel could be injected into the engine to produce a smoke screen to enable the 'run away mode' and was going to ask how you did this, but you answered it
    something i always wondered about Master Milos T69, if it was doing the same thing, it is smoky, but perhaps not as bad as this old beast
    great to see the old girl running, and pretty well, worth all the effort guys
    one thing i hate about working on military stuff, having to work on your knees and know where to kneel with jagged lumps of steel poking you in places that are not conducive to most peoples enjoyment

    • @ВячеславФролов-д7я
      @ВячеславФролов-д7я 9 месяцев назад +1

      Gotta correct: it isn't intended as a "run away mode". In soviet union, smoke wasn't considered as a tank's personal defense method, but as a unit's tactical measure. For example, tanks and apcs crossing an open area, tanks are moving at the front and creating a smoke screen behind them covering weaker apcs. Smoke grenade launchers were also set up the way that smoke grenades would fly more than 100m forward before detonating, creating a smoked area in front of advancing troops.
      Of course these ww3 tactics don't work today, but the idea was as I described

    • @pete.theeggbox
      @pete.theeggbox 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@ВячеславФролов-д7я roger golf tango, of course that as well - the idea being to set a smoke screen, remove yourself from probable danger, retreat whatever, and set up else where, what i really meant, but yes totally agree, the tactics wouldn't work as well today, what with high tech imagery and advanced heat seeking, but then signatures on vehicles are changing all the time
