What I really love about this is that the paimon dialogue happens in the context of a world quest "An Adeptal Summons" where we meet cloud retainer again. Nice way to connect everything up.

in the start of the trailer we can see what I assume is younger shenhe crying, she had dark hair. and at 1:02 it says “you are a cursed child, and shall never have contact with anyone else” cloud retainer mentioned to always wear the ropes (knots) even while she’s sleeping. in china it is believed that knots ward off evil. so if chongyun has an over abundance of yang energy which scares away spirits thus making people doubt his job as an exorcist, maybe shenhe has an over abundance of yin energy that attracts them, which makes it necessary for her to become an exorcist? edit: oh how wrong I was.

My guess is that Shenhe is basically the polar opposite of Chongyun, she involuntary attracts evil spirits that is too powerful for her family to deal with, or they can't figure out a way to stop this, so she was exiled from human society and picked up by cloud retainer. The red rope is to protect her or seal her aura that attracts evil. Chongyun is a guy with pure Yang, so Shenhe is possibly a girl with pure Yin; Yin represents the dark side of the deads while Yang is the bright side of the livings. These are just my guess, not official lore at all.
That would also explain her homicidal tendencies, now thst you mention it. Hmmm, maybe, somehow, Shenhe's sister got the yang energy that shenhe should've had, and that's why the sister's son, chongyun, is pure yang. I am F2P, I opened the game directly when the maintenance was over, did a 10 pull and got Xiao. Did a 10 pull on Shenhe's banner, got nothing. Tried again, got Shenhe. And I only made 30 wishes in general! I literally got both characters in the time span of 2 minutes, a C2 Yun Jin and a C3 Ningguang. Used all my luck for 2022...

Ganyu is an adeptus like Cloud Retainer so she might have sparsely visited her. What we call sparse.... every 5 years must be for them like once every month. But I do think she might have perfectly meet her before. Characters unlocjk new VL when new characters are updates like happened with Eula
Her voiceline about Shenhe mentions that she doesn’t know her all that well & only hears about her from cloud retainer. & based on what cloud retainer has told her, it seems as though ganyu doesn’t understand shenhe’s situation because she says “I wonder if she’s just bored, should I recommend some work to keep her occupied?” While I know she means well I doubt that’s what shenhe needs.
I swear Shenhe backstory will probably be sad just like Eula or even more so. Such is the fate of all Cryo users. Also, the cloud retainer is so wholesome, such a big softie. I wonder if Mihoyo will give her a human form.

If you want to go that way, go ahead but don't go crying when you realize the game can't satisfy you. That's the difference. If the way you enjoy the game is in total contradiction with what the devs are trying to create, just be prepared for it Maybe not contradiction, but the gameplay in Genshin CLEARLY isn't the main focus for most people AND the devs. So you know what to expect.
The “you are a curse child” line is quite interesting, cursed here I see as bad luck or a sense of negative aura that everyone often when close to her feel. She does feel like the opposite of Chongyun with his extremely high life aura to the point that it become a detriment to his job. I still doubt that Chongyun and Shenhe is related but if they are it even more depressing because Shenhe seem older and most likely was left behind by her parents for their more favorable younger brother Chongyun to follow their linage.
You guys do know that Shenhe is very old right? Hell, I won't even be surprise if she can be Chongyun grandparents for example. So unlikely that they would be related directly, maybe as a different family line could be.

The sealed cave in Mt hulao is what was keeping shenhe inside. Somehow it'll be broken in the story this time. The seal was one of the things which still remain unsolved even after being there since launch.

Did a 10 pull on Shenhe's banner, got nothing. Tried again, got Shenhe. And I only made 30 wishes in general!
I literally got both characters in the time span of 2 minutes, a C2 Yun Jin and a C3 Ningguang.
Used all my luck for 2022...
Shenhe is a wholesome character. It's nice she is coming to the game, finally.

Ganyu has not met her, she says in voice line.
They both have very different personal problems, so I don’t think they woulda appreciated each other’s company at the time. Shenhe isn’t an adeptus.
Ganyu is an adeptus like Cloud Retainer so she might have sparsely visited her.
What we call sparse.... every 5 years must be for them like once every month. But I do think she might have perfectly meet her before. Characters unlocjk new VL when new characters are updates like happened with Eula
Her voiceline about Shenhe mentions that she doesn’t know her all that well & only hears about her from cloud retainer. & based on what cloud retainer has told her, it seems as though ganyu doesn’t understand shenhe’s situation because she says “I wonder if she’s just bored, should I recommend some work to keep her occupied?” While I know she means well I doubt that’s what shenhe needs.
Ganyu is like 2000+ years old. By that time Shenhe trained under Cloud Retainer, Ganyu are already working under Qixing as secretory.

I know a lot of people are dedicated to genshin cause of the builds and damage they can do but I put all of my emphasis on the characters stories 😭
Same. I'm over here with lame damage but almost complete town quests, stories, etc.

The “you are a curse child” line is quite interesting, cursed here I see as bad luck or a sense of negative aura that everyone often when close to her feel. She does feel like the opposite of Chongyun with his extremely high life aura to the point that it become a detriment to his job. I still doubt that Chongyun and Shenhe is related but if they are it even more depressing because Shenhe seem older and most likely was left behind by her parents for their more favorable younger brother Chongyun to follow their linage.
All we know is she’s from a family of exorcists like him. Whether they’re related by blood is still up in the air.

The sealed cave in Mt hulao is what was keeping shenhe inside. Somehow it'll be broken in the story this time. The seal was one of the things which still remain unsolved even after being there since launch.
