You asked her 'what is the worst part of ME living in Germany' and all what she is thinking about is: SHE can't help YOU. I just broke in tears.. I know this too well also as an expat..
I'm now commenting on a lot of your bid but it kind of feels like I'm joining a conversation ( you talk to the camera it feels like u talk to me ;)) so I just have to say that your mum seems like a lovely, open person, kind and sweet and believing she did everything she had to to give you ( and your siblings) a good start and you spread your wings. But I also believe that parents who have more than one child it's kind of easier for them to let children leave the nest. I think.
It needs a strong, supportive mum, to encourage kids to not only leave home, but to leave it and settle in another country. It’s this feeling of being unconditionally loved, and supported, even when you are thousands of miles away. I especially loved to hear she worked/still work with children. She obviously did an excellent job on her own kids.
Your mum is such a lovely person, I love how POSITIVE she is and that she supports you 100%. I can see where you have your positive attitude from. Have a great time together!
Your mom is absolutely lovely!! I really like how down to earth she is. So calm and level headed when talking about you moving away and all that, you can tell in her heart all she ever wanted for you was for you to be happy, and I just love that 💜
Your look was priceless when your mother stated she was was not sad when you told her you would stay longer in Germany than original thought, The mixture of "how sweet" and "What! Me leaving does not trouble you a little bit?!".
you can count yourself lucky to have such a wonderful loving mum. What a really nice and sympathetic person. thank you so much to have let us met her! have a good time together in germany and enjoy!
I instantly started to cry, when your mother said that she was happy when you extented your visa because things were going well withnrobert. That's the mother i want to be one day. Care for your children, love your children, prepare them for life and then let them go to live their own life 😙 and even if she is so far away, one can see that you have a great relationship 😍
Your mum is so sweet and so altruistic!♥️it made me cry because it reminded me of my mum who died 5 years ago when I turned 18. I wanted to go to new zealand for a year and she supported me so much but unfortunately didnt see me going anymore. you guys have such an amazing bound, lovely to see! Ganz viel Liebe aus Karlsruhe 💖
What a wonderful woman your mum is. You're really blessed with her. This is what love is about. To be happy if your beloved ones are happy. And to be interested in their lives. I mean really interested and not for the reason to judge. And how reflected you both are. It is amazing. It is so much better to have such intense quality time rather than living close to each other and take it for granted. But seeing what a warm and supportive woman she is, I totally get how hard it must be sometimes to live so far away from her. What a beautiful woman, inside and out. You've got good genes ;-) Love this video! Thank you for sharing this with us.
When you travel to other places in germany you should definitely come to the north visiting hamburg, lübeck and the north and baltic sea islands are also very beautiful

What a sweet and beautiful person your mom is. I’m so glad to hear how open she was/is to Germany and your decision to move there. I’ll be leaving for Germany permanently in a couple of days, and as much as my parents really like my German boyfriend, they’re not fans of me leaving. I hope one day they’ll be as open as your mum.
I loved this! Such a great relationship between you two. And I loved how when you said she never made you feel guilty for living there she said that's not a parent's job. I feel like parents often make grown kids feel guilty even after marriage. She seems so sweet and supportive. 😍
Both my parents (Italians) left their regions to settle down 1000 km away from their homes, in Tuscany where, I grew up. I live in Austria now. My daughter had a French boyfriend and stayed in France for a while and I did feel the distance. Now she is back and lives in the same town as me but even if I don't see her very often, I know I could meet her any time. That's quite a different feeling.
Your mum is so sweet and wholesome, not at all surprised seeing you and your family, it makes a lot of sense but so beautiful to see 🥰 She also seems very smart, open-minded and young-spirited!
Your Mum is so sweet. I can see and feel the love and respect you two have for each other. I love hearing you two talking together. This has been a beautiful, relaxing video. Thank you so much for sharing. Tell your Mum I said Hi and best wishes to her. God bless.
You have wonderful mom. So glad you shared this video. This reminds me of my daughter and me. She moved to Germany 5 years ago for love. Fortunately for her, she speaks German perfectly because I'm German living in the US for the past 30 years. Interestingly, she still had similar struggles regarding cultural differences that you had. The good part is that I can relate to her experiences since I went through the same thing many years ago. And your mother is so right when she says that the technology today is amazing and helping to keep in touch especially with the grandchildren.
Great mum, great daughter & great family. Wow, I have lived here in Australia (originally from Berlin) for 37 years and my mum has visited me just twice, seemingly preferring to travel to other destinations! Thumb 707. Sorry only one thumb allowed here.
Heartwarming and touching seeing you with your beautiful mummy 💕💕💕 So sweet how you put your arm around her in the beginning, so encouraging and caring. Enjoy your time together!
Germany or especially Würzburg a fairytale? NZL is Middlearth! Such a beautiful country. Aoteaora. The country of the big white cloud. I will never forget the friendly Kiwis. And those awesome incredible landscapes. But I am happy for you that you had found your better half and have two beautiful children. I am a born German with a little bit of italian, celtic and easteuropean genes, and I am so happy that my husband, who is from Algeria, risked a travel to Germany. A year later (3.5 years ago) we have met. Well and now married. I am with your mum, no matter which country he could be, I still would have fallen head over heels. Greetings from Waiblingen, neighbour to Stuttgart!
Reserved, private, orderly, and completely honest. I think it's genetic. I was the first Canadian child of German immigrants. One could argue these traits are mine because of the influence of German parents. But I see them sooo strongly in my daughter as well. One of my earliest memories is of my mother, writing letters to her mom back in Germany, on the tissue-thin blue airmail paper. And the letters that would come from my Oma on the same blue paper. Even mail was "expensive" back then, so tissue-thin paper weighed less and cost less to post. How lucky we are today with the technology to bridge the distance
Dear Antoinette, dear mum of Antoinette :-) it is soooo heart-warming to seing the 2 of u being so close with each other! My parents passed away years ago, and i am so happy for you and your fam to being able having a grandma!!! it is so lovely seing u 2 understanding each other so so well, and u have such an amazing mum who is tolerant, intelligent, mind-open... it is a pleasure to see u 2 together. I would really like to see or hear more about ur mum here on the channel, it is all so interesting and it opens the minds of others! give my regards to ur mum, respect to be so open, so refreshing and such a wonderful person! Greetings to ur kids and Rob, of course as well. Ur Mathias and fam from Jena
Your mum is so sweet, reminds me of my mum when I came to NZ from Germany almost 30 years ago. The family thing is hard - missing all in Germany hard!!! Never goes away! Miss Germany, too
Thank you for convincing your mum and thank you Maree for doing the video! It was wonderful listening to both of you, seeing the love and respect for each other. I hope you'll do it again 😉?
This was so sweet and wholesome to watch 🥰🥰🥰 I really love that video calls exist nowadays, so my children can see their grandparents on an almost daily basis. We do live in the same country (Germany) but over 200€ are separating us, so that is really nice to have 💖
Great video. Your mom is such a positive person. As an American I would love to hear her opinions of the USA and Americans since she visits your sister who lives in New York.
The German in "movies" is often not real. I'm a native speaker and I can definitely tell, sometimes they have Scandinavian actors or whatever pretending to speak German and it's just gibberish. Or people completely overpronounce everything. You can make any language sound harsh.
A lot of people think that it sounds harsh because in German we use a lot of "ch" and "sch" sounds, that many would consider harsh or bad. Even nice things like "I love you!" (Ich liebe dich!) has 2x "ch" in it.
What a lovely lovely, warm wonderful woman! This conversation calmed me down better than a guided meditation. I also teared up a bit. You are very lucky to have her. I would love to hear some more words of wisdom from her!
I love how supportive your mom is and it shows she's really happy for you. 💕 My parents were and still are the exact opposite. They made me feel guilty and bad about my choice to live with my husband in his country for a while. It's been a year and a half now and they still haven't accepted him and I decided I am no longer in need of their acceptance. It's sad that they can't come around even though he's such a nice guy..but I don't need that negativity in my life..
Hello Alexandra, Seonkyoung Longest has a similar story: her father abandoned her when she came together with her husband Jacob. But her mom still sticks with her. Here is a vid, where her mom is visiting them in the US: ruclips.net/video/Ar6cg01C51s/видео.html I, myself, have been so well accepted by my family in the US. It means so much to me! Quite soon, I'm gonna meet my best friend in Australia. And her parents are making jokes about sending her home with her when I leave. And her little daughter is over exited to meet me. I'm so honoured before arrival! And I can imagine about feeling not beeing welcome. I do feel sorry for your situation. I think I can understand what this means. Pls feel free to ask me back, about how to change your situation. Greetings from the far north of Germany.
@@peterdoe2617 Thank you for all this insight. I'm glad you got accepted so well. I got accepted from my husband's family as well but I just want to go back, be closer to my family. So in October I'll be going back to Germany and hopefully within 6 months my husband will be able to join me and then we'll try to make it permanent. As to the situation with my parents..I don't want to change anything anymore. They had a whole year to change their minds but they never will. So I'm done with them.
@@oOalexandraOo Dann könnten wir auch deutsch schnacken? Aber ich lass' es mal beim Englischen: sometimes you gotta stand your ground. Draw a red line. A friend of mine is struggling with depression. Intelligent. A great person to meet. Worked his way up from a certified car mechanic to a contoller in a global player company. Any reason to be proud about himself. But that's not the point, when it comes to depressions. (I had my fair share of it. Plus this will never go away completely.) He's under constant medication. For many years, now. He broke with his father, when, while trying to explain himself, recieved as an answer: " Pull yourself together. I'm in an angry mood from time to time, too!" How to expect any insight from a moron like that? (You know that saying: "don't argue with morons: they will pull you down to their level and than beat you with their experience"? That'rs it! Wishing you the best of luck: you and your hubby!
What a lovely Lady your Mum is! And what a warm, loving relationship you both have! I enjoy your videos but this is one of the best. Thanks to you and your Mum for such a lovely video
Wow! Your Mom is such a nice and great woman! She's lovely and really amazing! Thanks to her for joining you and sharing her thoughts about my home country!
Kia Ora Antoinette loved this video with your mum, I could feel the aroha between you guys. I too am from Hawke's Bay, Napier, New Zealand and I accidentally came across your wonderful video. NZ is currently on Level 4 Lock Down, and I find myself surfing the internet more often and thats why I accidentlly came across your video. You probably know from your mum that NZ went hard and fast to level 4 for your German viewers (this is a typical Kiwi rugby term, referring to a hard and fast game resulting in complete and utter victory) on 25/3/20, today we are three weeks into level 4 lock down which means, continue to stay home, exercise locally keeping a safe distance, do not drive, one person to shop from the family to get food or medication, only essential workers are allowed to work and access facilities. Stay safe, look after each other and be kind, those were the words expressed by our Prime Minister Jacinda Adern who happens to like Angela Merkle. Our government has opted for an eradication strategy not a mitigation strategy. So to date, NZ has had 9 deaths, about 800 recoveries, 700 active cases, 19 clusters in enforced isolation. We have one more week under level 4 before the government decides what action to take. Soon, perhaps in May we will go to what Jacinda calls a holding room pattern which is Level three where some businesses can resume work, provided safety standards are montitored aggressively, most schools are now on line, the children of essantial worker's will be allowed to return to school. The NZ economy has a massive surplus this means Jacinda can delay full return to work until th Covid virus has been addressed. In the last 4 weeks, NZ and Germany have repatriated German nationals stuck in our Level Four isolation. The New Zealand and German governments chartered Air New Zealand, Lufthansa, Condor, Swiss and Austrian airliners to get 12,000 mostly young Germans home safely to your shores. This complicated repatriation exercise was completed successfully just last week. Your young people did your country proud, we too in NZ are proud of their behaviour especially, under these unusual circumstances. The German government should give these young people a lot of time to pay off their expensive repatiration flights. Just a little note, almost every Lufthansa flight that took off from our shores requested a fly by over Christchurch or Auckland to say Danke Schoen New Zealand. Many tears were shed on board those Lufthansa repatriation flights when they departed our shores. So, I went on my OE (Overseas Experience) to England as most young professional Kiwi's do, in the 1970s and I travelled extensively throughout Europe including West Germany and East Germany. My heritage is Irish, English, Scottish and Maori. I'm a real proud kiwi but of all the countries that I travelled to in Europe during my OE only Germany found my heart. Sure, I have a strong Anglo/Celtic background but its my Maori heritage that allows me to think laterally about how people should treat each other. I was told that German's were arrogant, loud and abrasive, but when I travelled in your country that was far from the truth. I had Maori relatives that were Officers in the Maori Battalion they were prisoners of war in Germany I can honestly say that I was told by my grand uncles that they were never treated harshly whilst they were in detention perhaps it was because of the ferocious warrior reputation that proceeded the Maori Battalion, I don't know perhaps it was because they were officers who know's but Germany has always fascinated me. So I was not afraid to travel to Germany in fact I met many families in West Germany they were very kind and they wanted to show me how proud they were of their village or town. They called me a Britisher I hoped this meant that I was from the British Commonwealth and not from the United Kingdom, please I will never be one of them cause I'm a proud kiwi. Well I have to say they could tell I was a Kiwi or an Aussie by they we talked, acted and partied. I liked that very much, we never wanted to be referred to as English because we are not. In the aftermath of the covid virus life is going to be different and I know I will not be able to visit Germany as pften as I have done so many times in the past. So be strong every body Kia Kaha
What a lovely video. I think this might be the first time hearing an NZ accent that is not spoken by someone who has been living abroad for a while and watered it down for others to understand. I am also impressed you got her on camera, my parents don't want to do that :)
My mom passed away two years ago. She will not see me getting married next month or having children later on. This video made me so happy and so sad at the same time. Your mom is great and I can feel the love between you both. A love that only a mother and daughter can share. Thanks for the video. I cried a lot.
Maree is such a treasure! She brings tears to my eyes talking about how happy she is for all her children to have found love, even though that has meant they have moved all over the world! You are such a lucky woman to have such a gem of a mother =)
Aw your Mum is so lovely (just like you are!). Watching you two makes me miss my mum too... loved seeing this conversation between the two of you. Thank you for letting us into your life like this 💛
So pleased you enjoyed it. I'm sure your mama is just as lovely. Life has been so busy over the last few months and I haven't had a chance to catch up on your latest videos but I'm looking forward to binge-watching them soon!
What a lovely interview. I've seen already several of your videos, and they are all very warm - simply great. I was so curious when I heard that you live here in FRANKEN, which is my/our region, too. You did a great job with these videos. I am German and that fact alone was enough to find out how you and your Mom see our Germany. You have a really balanced way to present everything and it is no wonder that you have so many followers. I wish you all the best. Enjoy your life, you and Rob and your kids. Thanks for these great videos. It is sheer pleasure and attraction to listen to you and your Mom.
You're mum Maree has obviously passed on her wonderful values to you Antoinette. So supportive and so delighted to see you live your own life and your own terms, a great Mum!
That‘s the sweetest Video you‘ve eher done. I can unterstand that you‘ve become emotional because of what your mum said. My mum and I are as close as you and your mum. I can‘t even imagine to live so far away from her. Your relationship between each other is just adorable
What a great mother-daughter relationship you have. Honestly, I didn't have a closeness with my mum. To see a mum's care like this, I have never witnessed before. My mum wanted her kids to live close to her, almost smothering as though she regarded us as infants even though we were adults. My mum was overprotective, so you can be very lucky to have this kind of support for development and independence, and unselfish love. My mum passed away in July, and only now can she understand me. I have forgiven her for not giving me the support I needed. She did the best she could at the time. She had a hard life.
OMGosh, your mum is such a lovely person !!! 💖💖💖 I keep my fingers crossed that she will stay healthy for many, many more years, so that she can visit you, the kids, and Robert plenty of times !!!! Give her a hug and a big kiss from me, and when you want to show her Germany then visit our Rhineland-Palatinate region, wich is similar to franconia with the wine, veggies and palatinate- woods areas. We are close to France, so you can make a visit to the Alsace and show her another country ! Have a good time y'all, with plenty of fun and wonderful moments, and I hope that your mum will still be with you for a couple more weeks ! 🍀
I found parts of that a bit hard to watch and was actually crying. I really couldn't have coped if my kids had moved far away. I would have tried to not let them see how I felt but I would have been heartbroken. One of them was meant to be moving 200 miles away once and that just broke me....but then the plans changed and I was the happiest person alive. What a lovely lady she is. You are so much alike too.
Your mom obviously did a lot right with raising you, Antoinette. Both of you are so sweet and kind. I can see where you got it from. Oooh, and I can't see a woman cry. Even if you are happy about having your mom with you. Here's a huge hug for you.
What a sweet mom you have. Although I am a tall Austrian bloke, bearded and wild, it really touched me listening to both of you and seeing tears in your eyes. Thank you for sharing this lovely video. :o)
This made me cry.. you’re mom is such a sweetheart and supportive mom to let you all find your lives and destiny away from home. And i know what it’s like for parents coz all my siblings are living outside too in the US and i’m the only one in Europe. Im a new expat here in Germany and still also struggling with cultural differences and adjustment. I can see similarities of our cultures in the Philippines and US to NZealanders/kiwis in the previous video you posted about things you’re still not used to after living in Germany. And i was amazed to find a lot of similarities. It’s actually a struggle for me at this point coz my life right now is totally different my jet setting lifestyle before as an international flight stewardess. Sometimes i do wonder and thought that i was blessed to have a career that taught me to be open to cultures and people but in the real world since i left my dearly loved career to moving here questioned the exposure and experience I thought i’ve learned from traveling the world more than a decade. I had shocking and ironic observations living here that i’ll hopefully get used to like the manual driving in the car manufacturing capital of the world, limited public transportation (no uber or cheap taxis at least) so people have more easier alternative to move around, the cold personality and facial expression of German people, and the list goes. So for now, i’m slowly taking these adjustments one at a time and will hopefully get by.
What a lovely lady! Seems like your mom sees life in the correct way...it's such a shame that all her kids are spread around the world, but looking at the full half of the cup - she gets to travel a lot 😉

Your mum is so sweet and wholesome, not at all surprised seeing you and your family, it makes a lot of sense but so beautiful to see 🥰
She also seems very smart, open-minded and young-spirited!
Your mom surely is one of the kindest people on the planet ... how adorable ... Greetings to NZ!!!
Oma is such a nice person, with an open mind and clearly have your best interest in mind. Good for all family.
Your mom is amazing! Such a rolemodel! I hope I manage to be just as supportive to my daughter!
Wow your mum is perfect. So supportive and lovely.😍😍😍
Your mom is such a lovely person. Please give her a big hug from me ❤
Heartwarming and touching seeing you with your beautiful mummy 💕💕💕 So sweet how you put your arm around her in the beginning, so encouraging and caring.
We do live in the same country (Germany) but over 200€ are separating us, so that is really nice to have 💖
I congratulate you on your kind, understanding and open minded mother! It is a very beautiful, touching and interesting conversation!

Stupid don't compare your language with a Holy SEMETIC Language .

If you want let's talk first about sexual verses in your bible
What a lovely lovely, warm wonderful woman! This conversation calmed me down better than a guided meditation. I also teared up a bit. You are very lucky to have her. I would love to hear some more words of wisdom from her!
Your mom is such a sweetheart! I love that she is so supportive and positive!
I love how supportive your mom is and it shows she's really happy for you. 💕
My parents were and still are the exact opposite.
Here is a vid, where her mom is visiting them in the US:
ruclips.net/video/Ar6cg01C51s/видео.html
I, myself, have been so well accepted by my family in the US.
I'm in an angry mood from time to time, too!"
How to expect any insight from a moron like that? (You know that saying: "don't argue with morons: they will pull you down to their level and than beat you with their experience"?
That'rs it!
Wishing you the best of luck: you and your hubby!
I love your mum! She is such a breath of fresh air.
So nice mummy & daughter get together... from miles apart to meet. Your mum is sweet and full of grattitude. Reminds me of my mum.
What a lovely Lady your Mum is! And what a warm, loving relationship you both have! I enjoy your videos but this is one of the best. Thanks to you and your Mum for such a lovely video
You couldn't ask for a better mom 😍😍😍! She is so wonderful ❤❤❤!
Wow! Your Mom is such a nice and great woman! She's lovely and really amazing! Thanks to her for joining you and sharing her thoughts about my home country!
Five thumbs up for your mom, thank you!
Just a little note, almost every Lufthansa flight that took off from our shores requested a fly
by over Christchurch or Auckland to say Danke Schoen New Zealand.
Your mum is so lovely!! You're so lucky to have such a supportive mum :)
We love you Caitlin! xx
You lucky one :)
You're Mum is sweet and so lovely!
And we can see how you Appreciate her, wonderful!
Peace to all and a nice Sunday :)
Sounds like a wonderful family and mother you have. Congratulations to you! 😊
There are several moments in your vid I found really moving...
Your mum is beautiful. Great video thanks for sharing with us.
What a positive attitude. Thanks for this
Aw your Mum is so lovely (just like you are!).
That is such a nice video! You two are wonderful. Your mom is such a sweet and supportive mother. Bless you!
I made the same experiences.
OMGosh, your mum is such a lovely person !!! 💖💖💖
I keep my fingers crossed that she will stay healthy for many, many more years, so that she can visit you, the kids, and Robert plenty of times !!!!
It is heartwarming and encouraging being allowed to share your sound and lovable conversation. All the best for you both!
I had to cry all the time! How sweet you are! I wish, my mum would still live. Thank you so much for this great video!
Your mom is beautiful on the inside and out. Thank you for sharing her with us. 💞

@@AntoinetteEmily Thank u v much, Antoinette. Blessings to your family.
That is a lovely mom if ever i've seen one.🥰
Made for a nice video. 👌
Give her a hug from me.😁
What a sweet mom you have. Although I am a tall Austrian bloke, bearded and wild, it really touched me listening to both of you and seeing tears in your eyes. Thank you for sharing this lovely video. :o)
Your mom is so lovely! It's wonderful to see how close you are and how supportive she is!
Antoinette,
I loved hearing you and your Mom have such a sincere conversation.
Best to you both,
Martina
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and video..Your mom is so,so beautiful inside and out... :)
Dear Mom dear Antoinette
what a lovely couple you are. I see it is hard and new for MOM to talk to the camera, I am impressed to the courage of ure MOM, i DO like her much, she saidmy children has their own live
What a Mom what a courage what a LADY, Must be New Zealand courage.
Thank u MOM for ure honest opinion. I do see the love which is between both of u

Your reaction to your mum's beatiful words was so touching. 😍 Your mum is so beatiful and so supportive. I'm happy your mum wanted to visit your channel. 💓
So sweet. Really enjoyed that video.
Aww, your mom is such a lovely lady and wonderful parent.
Such a wonderful video! I really enjoyed watching this! Your mum seems so lovely 💗
Your mum ist so inspireing, lovely person and an idol for how open minded we should grow up our kids! Thanks for sharing her with us 😊.
A very positive person I liked her personality
She is just the cutest, most endearing sweet lady! Love your relationship and the way she keeps you uplifted and positive. Love your channel like crazy, Antoinette 💕😊💜
Thank you so much! ❤️
Your mom is such a sweetheart ❤️
This was the most beautiful video I have seen in a long time. It almost feels like distance can move people closer together at times. You and your mom have a really special relationship
