The palestinians were offered their own state after WW2 they refused because it was next to Israel. In the late 60's early 70's Israel offered to give them part of the current Israel to join Gaza and the West Bank together to form one palestinian state. All Israel wanted in return was an equal part of Gaza so they still had acess to the sea. The Palestinians refused.
In the early 2000's Israel totally withdrew all Israelis from Gaza, they even removed their dead. Giving total self governance to the palestinians in that area. Look how that has worked out. As for everyone screaming about how the palestinians have sanctions on them. They were imposed by the Arabic countries, like Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. Egypt even built their version of the Berlin wall between them and the palestinians in Gaza. Complete with CCTV, razor wire and minefields.
Egypt used to be in total control of Gaza until 1967, when Israel took control of it. Israel has on multiple occasions tried to give it back. The Egyptians said "hell no", we want nothing to do with the Palestinians.

There has never been a level playing field for negotiations between Israel and Palestine. All proposals made by Israel have never been fair and all proposals by Palestinians have never addressed Israel's requirements. Israel doesn't want Palestine to agree to any two state solution. Establishment of two states and addressing compensation in accordance with international law is the only way to resolve the problem regardless of how much both sides may be dissatisfied with the outcome, both must compromise. Some Palestinian leaders have compromised and have been assassinated by Israel before their agreement could be formalised. The fundamental issue is that the Mandate for Palestine was illegally corrupted by Britain and the world at the time knew it but despite heated disagreement a Jewish homeland was included in the Mandate for Palestine. This was a denial of Palestinian right of self determination. What we've had for many years is an illegal occupation and apartheid. Israel claims to be a democracy but any state set up to favour one group over another based on religious grounds doesn't treat all people equally and cannot be a democracy. Being able to vote is not proof of democracy.

Um, depends on if you're going to get pedantic or not but Jewish people assisted ANZAC and British troops in the first world war fighting against the Ottoman Turks throughout the Gaza and what is now known as Israel. Then there was the Second World War where the Jewish Brigade which included many volunteers from around Tel Aviv fought against the Italians and German forces in Italy. Moshe Dayan who at one time was the IDF Chief of Staff and was responsible for reorganising the IDF in the 1950's and later became the Israeli Defence Minister was wounded and lost an eye while fighting alongside Australians in southern Lebanon during WW2. I believe he was awarded the Distinguished Service Order at the recommendation of an Australian officer.
