Ladies and gentlemen it is time to give the biggest congratulations to mint hunter as he just done the unthinkable and got the 9.8 on man of steel 18 5th print
I'm buying key books slabed by cbcs because it cost less ,but the books are big keys I'm not selling unless I get paid the same sa cgc prices. Cbcs is automatically better quality
Indeed. Also, my opinion, as well as unbiased popular opinions that I’ve heard is that CBCS grades books more accurately, maybe even a little harsher than CGC. So, buying books that are already CBCS slabbed is the way to go.
Just think you save around 100 every big book and 100 dollar bills add up to extra big keys. Money in the bank. Buy cbcs one day they might not be as cheap
@@Guero679 Are you referring to the actual protective casing (“comic housing unit”) or to the books that are slabbed by the two companies? I ask because CBCS “slabs” are sturdier, far more durable, and have zero Newton rings… unless something has changed in the past six months.
You know, the bat symbol on Batmans chest on the cover of Batman #496 reminds me a lot of the bat logo from the dark knight trilogy. Anybody else feel that way.
Now that everybody presses everything cgc expects you're going to press the book as part of the grading process. So anyone not pressing even seamlingly perfect books is going to get burned
awesome, I remember loving those opening videos, everyone was doing current day walmart packs and you did 90's toys-r-us packs which was more interesting imo. shame about the hit rate but looks like you got a handful of big boys in the 9.8 at least
I used to buy those TRU packs. I found several really good books and even stuff from before I started reading comics. X-Men 350, Cable 1, 3of the 5 X-men #1 from 1991, and more that I can't remember
If you want to do the rest of the hobby a favor, email CGC with the serial number and let them know it's cracked open, so they will take it off their census. Otherwise, you can just throw the label away; it's only valid while the book is still in the case.
A nice haul despite the rejects! What I've noticed from opening many of these same packs is that even if the spines and corners look crispy, they may have other defects from being in the box for decades. Stacking curls are pretty common. The box window can press a little rectangular crease into the top comic, and the corrugated cardboard stiffener in the back of the pack can press wavy ridges into whichever comic is next to it. Also, if moisture or humidity gets inside the pack, it gets trapped in there, and I've had books come straight out of the sealed pack with foxing.
I also noticed with the new CBCS slabs on the back they add random facts. For example on the back of my GI Joe 1, it has Full page character profiles for Scarlett, Breaker, Flash, and Stalker. Weapons profiles on the interior cover and back cover. 2-page profile on the command center "The Pitt". It also has Story 1 titled Operation- Lady Doomsday. Story 2 title Hot Potato. I don't have that on my other CBCS slabs so they must have just started it.
Happy to answer! A LOT of reasons actually 1) it was only $16 a slab vs CGCs $24 2) they actually state "DC Universe UPC Variant" on their labels 3) clearer slabs, sturdier slabs 4) better accounting of key issues on the labels!
@@MintHunterComics Thank you. I really like the fact that CBCS prescreens have no minimum quantity, the fails are cheaper, and you can prescreen for different grades in the same order.
Congrats on the amazing unboxing - just a quick ? - for the prices u post at the bottom for each book, is it a CBCS price or a CGC price - or is there a difference in the value each would fetch?
Had a question after seeing your mark jewelers video.I opened an old mjv hulk 228 I kept in storage today. Interior had insert, but the interior was hulk 230. Have you ever seen a movie this screwed up??
I know you're going to resubmit the 9.6's so that means you're going to get them pressed and cleaned at least. If you'd have done that the beginning do you think you would have had some 9.9 or possibly any 10?
Ladies and gentlemen it is time to give the biggest congratulations to mint hunter as he just done the unthinkable and got the 9.8 on man of steel 18 5th print
Hell f***** yeah!
Nice! I've been on a hunt for DC Universe variants since your first video on them. Have found almost 10 in dollar bins since !

I agree

Their slabs are no where close in quality to cgc and i like both companies

I can see it!
A good idea might be to put those babies back in their bags. It’s less likely to get scratches on the cases.
Just wow, great unboxing.
That Man of steel 18 DCU variant it's such a awesome book! I will have one 9.8!
GLAD YOUR SO HAPPY AND THINGS CAME OUT GREAT FOR THE MOST PART. GOOD LUCK ON THE SALES!!! BEST TO THE BEST.
Awesome Toys R' US comic video. 😀👍

Grading standards have def adjusted. you know HAVE to press most books

I still have another 10 unopened packs!
@@MintHunterComics where did you find them? No toys r us in US for a while?
I've always lived the toys r us comics
Indeed
I'm on the hunt for old comics and this was the first thing I looked up, in 98 I got like 4 packs of toys r us comics
I used to buy those TRU packs. I found several really good books and even stuff from before I started reading comics. X-Men 350, Cable 1, 3of the 5 X-men #1 from 1991, and more that I can't remember
@ Mint-Hunter Comics you should do a video on what to do with labels if you crack open a slab? keep, send, throw away, etc.

I just bought a infamous UF4 facsimile, Black flag, acetate cover, 9.9 CGC Blue label off of eBay yesterday.

Can't believe they finally came back!
It took a year!

CBCS has always added 1st sarlacc Pitt on the label for Star wars return of the Jedi #1. Pretty weird right?
Not a bad return considering submitting them raw, uncleaned, and unpressed. Now you can put some effort into the rejects to get them the 9.8's.
Exactly!
What a great video
Glad you enjoyed it
*_So, will you press and send to CGC or CBCS(and get 20% less on the sale)?_*
Unsure! I might do a mixed bag - some to CGC and some back to CBCS
Awesome submissions! Why did you send these to CBCS instead of CGC? Just wondering since you usually send to CGC and these aren’t presigned books.
Happy to answer! A LOT of reasons actually

Fantastic books! I'm learning more and more about DC everyday. Great great information thank you very much I greatly appreciate it.
Not me. I’ve only been watching you since August.Lol😂
Hahah, well welcome any time!

Lots of expensive books you've got there. Nice review.
Yes they are!
*_Some of these prices are too low._*
I lowered them to meet more "CBCS" prices, rather than CGC
Great unboxing dude!
Thanks!
I only have 1 DC logo variant and its GL 51. Wish I could find 48-50
Wow, that's a good one though
Do they sell these collectors packs??
Toys R Us did! back in 1994!
Some really awesome books, James. It does sting a bit that they didn't all get 9.8s, but like you said, try again and hope for the best.
Im shocked that Red Rain didn't get 9.8.... lol
Me too lol
A lot of excellent slabs.
So happy to get these back
Hey,……you got one to……..Justice league…….great!!!!….Thanks for the info.
How much is that raw DC first appearance of doomsday if you are selling it?
Just wondering what was the wait time on getting these books back?
A year
Superboy 9 newstand CGC 9.8 just got back first king shark love the book. Got a few 9.6s that should be 9.8
I know you're going to resubmit the 9.6's so that means you're going to get them pressed and cleaned at least. If you'd have done that the beginning do you think you would have had some 9.9 or possibly any 10?
James, get videos,I still wanna see your top 20 big books and your top 20 Joker books,.
Any chance you have Nightwing 1 DC logo?
Not at the moment!
I have Nightwing 2 DC logo in a 9.6.
do you have the super girl rare one with the dc universe logo 🤔🤔🤔
I know which one you're talking about, issue #686, and it's the rarest of them all. I actually don't know anyone who has it
@@MintHunterComics eye have one that came in a 2 pack of toys r us pack one was regular an the other was a dc universe logo one 😳
keep up the great videos 💣💣💣
How do you clean your comics
Maybe I'll do a video! One main thing though, sponge or white eraser (not pink)
That would be cool 😎 to see. I Enjoy your videos
👍
investment wise, I bet you wished you sent them to CGC instead
You should have prescreen them
Struck crap....lol...old news get real..
