Man i heard this song on spotify as one of those “recommended” songs, and when it was over and moved on, I was like “OH SHIT WHAT WAS THAT SONG”

I was in Ecuador & had met this girl. I rented a hotel in the downtown area and she would stay with me. In this room we would listen to music talk laugh and get high and escape reality and it seemed like this hotel room was our little world. There was this window that slides open and she would open it and see the sunlight coming into the room and noise of the hustle bustle of the city
and it was all too easy to see we had found this new beautiful reality of our own...maybe a fantasy. I had to go home eventually and the time was winding down to where I had to leave.
Out of all the music I would send her this one is the one she fancied and it was hard knowing that our time was up but we consumed some for the last time and just were in each others arms singing/huming this together and I told her this would always be our song. "They're singing our song, They're singing our song~"

this is just one of those hauntingly beautiful bittersweet songs that i will probably never be able to forget. and i think that kind of matches the meaning of the song; it was their song and then it's past tense, 'this was our song.' it's over but you still remember them, you still see the light, and you loved them but it just wouldn't work. you'll always know them and what it was to be in love, not 'killed' like you were before.

I just saw them live last night. Words can't even describe how amazing it was. It was in a little theater with a small crowd. Israel got all the band members (from Blind Pilot and The Barr Brothers) to come off the stage into the crowd for the last song. He asked us to sing along, but not to record it or take pictures, just be with them in that moment. Then they played this song. Everyone in the crowd sang along. Absolutely incredible. I can cross seeing Blind Pilot off my bucket list now. :)

When I was a kid my mom would play this for me all the time. Life was so simple back then and even though I didn’t t even really understand the words, this music would make me feel calm. Now when life gets complicated and difficult this song takes me all the way back there. Before school, before grades, before needing money, before struggling to make it into college, before spending every week waiting for a weekend, before making every move in life based on how other would see it. It just takes me back to a time when my only concern was the books that my dad would read to me at bedtime and weather Nemo would find dory this time.

Was dating someone. We just broke up. Whenever I am alone, all I want is my dog back. He was such an idiot, but he'd never give up on me or ever do anything against me. Whenever I got home he'd sniff me from head to toe and jump around ready for dinner and movie together. So much better than a human. He left too but I hope he's not lost. I would pay anything to have him back.

So I fell in love with this person. And one day in March I was really afraid something bad had happened to him. Together with a friend we drove through the city to look for him. And this song was playing in my head.
This is mine and my exhusbands song. Everytime I listen to it I think of how in love we were. Of how I never thought any of the things that has happened to us was even possible. We saved eachother from ruining our lives. And now that its all over, and he no longer loves me I feel as if my life is over. But this song gives a little hope that one day it will all work out.

Blind Pilot's sound is heavily captivating. I find them heartbreakingly beautiful and their lyrics extremely easy to relate to. They bring back memories good and bad. That's what I like about them. I think I've found my next favorite band.

I found this from one of those "free apple songs" that starbucks used to give out on cards that worked with apple music back in like 2012-2015
It definitely influenced my early adulthood; i was around 18 when i first heard this song and it was fall, kind of grey outside (i lived in north texas, in a town called Denton)
I remember this really pivoting my musical and fashion sense to a more "indie" style. I absolutely owe this one song from Blind Pilot for how I grew in those years. And I think of it often.

This song has one of the best structures I have ever heard in a song! The way it starts off quiet and simple and gradually builds up in texture but not to the point where it is obvious. The genius use of double tracking is superb. The way it takes so long to reach the chorus and when it finally does it is ever so rewarding!
