Don't waste your youth trying to be old. Go out and do stuff because once your youth is gone it's gone. Then there's lots of responsibility. People in their 40s don't have much time for videogames if they have houses and kids. It's cooking dinner after work, cutting the grass, calling business, fixing things, taking kids to activities.

I'm 32 and rent an apartment, so I don't cut the grass or fix things. I meal prep on the weekends, so I just have to heat my meals up in the microwave during the week. You can have more free time as an adult than you did as a kid if you play your cards right. School is 6-7 hours while a desk job is 8 hours. But I get an hour lunch where I can do a game session. So I end up doing the same hours you do in school, except I don't have homework and rarely have "chores". I literally have more free time than someone in school. Also no bed time, so if I feel like losing some sleep to play more games in a given night, I can.

I stopped playing video games when I moved out at 17. I gave away my playstation and my tv, and didn't really think about it because I had other interests that drew me more... but... when I was about 31-32 I got chronically ill and I couldn't work, also it became rough to keep up my interests/hobbies as I was just drained of energy, and often couldn't leave my house for months at a time. Video games saved me. It made me have social interactions with other people every day, it made me use my brain and interact with the outside world(even if digital) and not just stare out the window all day, it gave me challenges and opportunities to improve myself and feel like I'm getting better at things. It gave me back some quality of life.

The whole reason I grew up liking games and enjoying them so much is cause my mom had the Sega Genesis, Original PlayStation, Xbox, GameCube, and the PlayStation 2.
