Just watch a clip from Dec. 1 2020, about the Quapaw nation restoring the Quapaw bison. They spoke about the history and in the late 1800 there were only 300 bison left. I cried and then was so proud that you have Quapaw bison that you are saving and returning them to our land. America. Thank you for your gift of raising these most amazing animals. I love them and always have. I live in Calif. and we had a few herds of a dozen or so in Martinez Ca. we could see them from the freeway and in Folsom which you can also see them from the freeway. It's been many many years since they have been gone but its my most favorite memory. I will never forget them. Bless you and all who take care of these most amazing animals.

Rain is a blessing in surprise. Rain makes the grass grow bigger, inturn you don't have to worry about buying hay for the dry seasons. After turning the yearlings I wonder how long does it find the place in the herd. Looking forward to trail camera shots in the future. You cannot predict the future of the animals but your choice is your option when raising Bison.

It looks like the Hoss heard is your largest. It's conceivable that all of those calves could produce a baby. That would double the size of this heard in one calving season. That's awesome. I don't think a coon would bother the chickens it's not their habit. My first guess would be a coyote, they are notorios chicken killers. I don't your local but fox will do the same. We had fox in CO'

On my aunt and uncle’s trail cameras they got a couple of shocks. The first one was a mountain lion jumping onto the top of their chicken coop. The second one on a different camera farther out on their property, a man in the distance set up a little campsite for himself. Of the two surprises The stranger on their property was the scariest. 😳

    Dusty,
This may not be an issue, but if they get too aggressive with the newcomers, here’s an idea for you. If possible, spray the entire herd down with a hose. That way they all smell like wet bison. Another option would be to introduce them to the new heard while it’s raining.
We did this with gerbils in a pet store. When we had a group of gerbils and were introducing new gerbils into the cage, they would immediately start fighting. So, before they did, we would spray them down with a fine mist of water. If any were fighting, they stopped fighting immediately. They all smelled wet gerbils. It kind of neutralizes their scent. They got along great, after that.

Livestock Guardian Dogs would help with Predators around the Barn. I suggest 2 so they can work as a team against multiple Predators at a time. Also Hope you have a secure Coop in the Barn for Chickens to be in at night. Racoons will dig under walls if foundation is dirt to get to the Chickens. Just a thought. I think I now understand why you have so many Ladies with Hoss instead of putting the new Ladies in with Big Joe. Is it because of their Age? Just seems Hoss has lots more Ladies than Dunbar and Big Joe lol. God Bless and Peace from WV.
