For still photography definitely the pixel 7a. Samsung A54 is also a strong performer and also takes great video . I really liked the Nothing phone daylight snaps!😊
@n.imanthadesilva9700 I do like the A54/A34 and it's a phone I would consider. I'm just more familiar and comfortable with Google Pixels hence why I got another pixel 😊
Great content as always. How does the camera quality compare to say an older s21u?... Compareto all these. I want one that has great photo and video but isnt an iphone. Which wpuld be your pick from these Chris?
Just get a used Galaxy S23 for 450-500€ now. Price will probably go down even more when S24 launches in Januari. Nothing beats that price/quality ratio. If you only care about gaming, get a Poco F5 for about 350€.
Another great video! Just throwing this out there, I think it'd be cool if you did something like this for phones with "best speakers" or "best audio experience" something to that effect. I've realized that's become my number one thing to look for in a new phone. I'm no audiophile so it'd be nice to have some good speakers with reasonable bass for whatever the price point so I listen to more music
Agreed! The RUclips phone reviewers often seem to throw the audio description to the wayside! Not sure why...perhaps it's too tricky to give us a true experience of what the audio may sound like via a video screen, so they avoid it... who knows!
The Galaxy A34 imo is one of the best smartphones in 2023 indeed, it has all the essentials and some more , great software support and decent performance for the price, great value for money.
I was gonna ask you to do a best in general but this also answers that. I swear choosing a budget phone is hard as hell. Especislly for someone who kinda uses every part of the phone
What I would need from a 300-500€ midranger (or a phone on general) is proper ingress protection, solid enough performance, solid enough cameras, long software support and definitely no shiny plastics on the frame, because with of without a case it will soon look awful. So far I've come up with only A54. A 1-2 year old flagship on discount is usually the one I end up with. Last time I chose the Xiaomi 11 lite 5g NE and the cameras are starting to annoy me 😅
Decided to go with the Xiaomi Note 13 Pro Plus in the end and take a chance, the amount of variety avaliable with the midrangers these days is just astounding. Considering the model I chose was the 512GB Storage and 16GB of RAM I would say that is truly impressive for only £350! The only unknown in all of this is Mediatek's Dimensity series and how it will handle everyday tasks as am used to either Snapdragon or Exynos etc.. Going to use the Note 13 Pro Plus in Conjunction with my near 3 year old but still fully Samsung S21 Ultra when a new battery eventually gets installed. There is nothing new or truly impressive I have seen with the flagships recently and I do believe the price increases do not justify their offerings.
Hope you are enjoying it! I nearly bought the Note 13 Pro model, but somehow ended up with a Pixel 7 instead for 300. I think it's probably due to me wanting a smaller phone I can use one handed.
@dadyadzana8902 I will admit, the Chinese Apps are annoying haha! However the seller on eBay did their best to minimize the impact it would have as an 1st time experience with this phone, I have an idea that I'm gonna use it as a Co Everyday Driver to go along with my aging S21 Ultra while my Google Pixel 7a will act as more of a camera phone. I will admit, the camera on the 13 Note Pro+ surprised me and in a good way, most of the photos taken were great! They weren't too washed out or anything they were balanced just right. During the night it held up even better than I thought! Ultra Wide is not recommended for Night Shots however apart from that it worked great and loved the results. Oh and that 120W Charger that goes with it and charges it fully in only 20 minutes? Man that was insane in itself! I was shocked 😮 I would definitely recommend it especially for it's price point considering it can do at least 80% to 90% of what the more expensive flagships do.

If you're buying a used phone, the Pixel 7 isn't much more expensive than the 7a (at least here in Poland) so it's worth considering as well. That's what I'll do probably.
Thank you for giving all the important information I was looking for, my last flagship was the Xiaomi Mi8 because now mid range phones give me everything I need. I'm thinking the Redmi note 13 pro would suit me fine. 👍
Considering getting a 7a, I'm using whatever phone I get for shooting videos primarily. I also would like something with a good screen, but we'll see what happens! Most midrange phones these days seem to take excellent pictures.
