    I love it. "Hustle Porn" that almost killed me. Almost worked myself to death. Fortunately I had a profession where i could collect my pension at 50. Retirement is the best job I ever had. Gave me a second chance to rebuild myself physically, emotionally and most importantly...Spirtually. Being dominated by ego almost completely destroyed me. Even my fitness plans after 50 were influenced by spirtuality (Aikido and Tai Chi). The Tao was a real spirtual life saver. I hope we can break the cycle by leaving the ego behind. One question....does eastern philosophy embrace the idea that our essence carries on a knowledge of "its own existence"? I think were all a little unnerved by the concept of complete oblivion. Anyway still waiting for your book. Thanks Brother for you great work.

      Thank you John. Yeah, hustle porn will wear out the best of us. I bet retired life is treating you well. You are very fortunate to retire at 50 that you can now concentrate on the deeper essence of life. A lot don't have that luxury. As for your question, I might answer it in a Ask Jason down the track. But in short, yes it does, though it is way more complicated. Great to hear from you brother.

      John C. Hi john, the Tao Te Ching got under my skin nearly 40 years ago, still lots of learning to be done. Did vipassana meditation training, 12 years of Taoist/Buddhist training, than due to ill health started tai chi. In this talk I heard tai chi mentioned as a spiritual practice, but boy I know it is. It is fabulous, finally the zen ‘’ no mind’’ has become a reality. Love it. Ikido would be the same. Thanks for your comment. 😊🙏

      @@carolynomm4013 Thanks for giving me your perspective. Beginning in my early 20s I practiced years of different styles of Karate. No spirtual perspective and very tough on body. Almost ruined my knees. Very Ego based. Congratulations on your studies. It's a much better world to live in with this type of spirtual perspective. The programming of Western thought is very tough to break. Thanks again for your comment.

    We all here because we're just walking each other home. And the nature's of humans life is not according to the modern society rules / expectations. In my opinion the rules and expectations of modern society lead's people to greedy, attachment, mental issue and spiritually confusion 🙏🏻

    I had a lot of questions about why different dharma have different perspectives. Anatta, atman, etc.
    When I experienced deep sleep state, i realized that in that moment (death, as mirrored by deep sleep), perspectives vanish and does not arise. It's just clear emptiness, bliss, vastness, void. There is no Buddhist perspective, no Hindu perspective, no Daoist perspective in that state. It's all bliss, no form. This proves what is in the Shiva Samhita sutra:
    "The Jnana (Gnosis) alone is eternal; it is without beginning or end; there exists no other real substance. Diversities which we see in the world are results of sense conditions; when the latter ceases, then this Jnana alone, and nothing else, remains." - Siva Samhita Chapter I verse 1

    I had an experience when I was meditating for the first time. I had read in a book to inquire about who you truly are and just ask who am I, so I did right before I closed my eyes and after like 5 minutes I had this knowing that I was no-thing or no body, and i got so scared that i stoped meditating at that moment, then after reading more books i understood....... But i haven't have no other experience after that, though i haven't been meditating often.

    Atman In Advaita vedanta, it is pure, undifferentiated, self-shining consciousness, the witness-consciousness which observes all phenomena yet is not touched by it.

    • @JuanPreciado87

      When I meditate, my consciousness moves quickly to many places: it leaves the house and travels through the city, it gets inside bodies, it comes out of the earth and observes its nearby universe from the sun, a worm that comes out of the earth gets into a nearby river. That is, it goes where it pleases and becomes conscious from there. That would be the atman?

    My issue with your description is that you are talking about jiva and atman as if the advaita Vedanta perspective speaks for all of Hinduism concept of the soul. You are omitting lots of other perspectives which are comparable to western notions such as madhva and ramanuja. Also in my own religion of Jainism, soul is the ultimate reality. Every soul is individual and also having potential to become a liberated individual, eternal soul.
    Also karma is a substance that sticks to the soul. It is a pollution and type of particle matter that accumulates on the soul.

    Though concepts are abstract, I think Atman is individual soul and Parmatman is Supersoul (God) which each Atman aspires to merge with.

      I see where you're coming from my friend. But technically Atman means undifferentiated consciousness, not soul.

      That depends on who’s teaching.
      Technically in the realm of duality
      Jiva-Individual Soul
      Paratman- Universal Spirit
      Brahman - Beyond And In Spirit . (God, Source, Creation of relative things) beyond creation beyond cause and effect and so on.
      Soul - Drop
      Spirit - Ocean
      God- Universe and So on and everything it

    We are all one... its all connected.... If you suffer, I suffer, if I heal, you heal etc.. Connection is the answer to healing the samskaras, acceptance .... then
    ananda becomes constant.

    • @JasonGregoryAuthor
      @JasonGregoryAuthor  4 года назад +1

      Not technically my friend. Sure, connection is important for our psychological make-up, but to transform the samskaras you need to engage in deep spiritual practice. Nothing outside of yourself can do that for you. Also, ananda becomes a constant once the identification with your persona has loosened its grip. Ananda is also unassociated bliss, it has nothing to with anything we can associate with. It arises when the ego subsides. It is our natural state. That is what the East teach. Anything other than that is new age spirituality and a sensationalism of Eastern thought. I just wanted to clarify that for you because my channel is about the authentic teachings. Hope this makes sense.

    • @saraswatiatheartnsoulholis9145
      @saraswatiatheartnsoulholis9145 4 года назад

      Jason Gregory ... 100% ~ The actual definition of ananda IS a natural state of BLISS... or JOY. accessible to us as we allow it to be ... At the our core we are simply divine bliss. It is attachments that cause us to suffer. IF one is willing to do the hard work it takes to fall in love and connect within, release attachments to people places objects and even the concept of Ananda, we find this pure essence. We are all born of joy and bliss and can experience this as we connect with the self and realize source lives within. connection is important as most forms of dis-ease and dis-comfort arise from a lack of connection to THE SELF and others. I am on this journey just as you are! I appreciate your kind and thoughtful words. Namaste 🧘‍♀️🙏💖

    Doesn't Adivaita Vendanta also suggest that the "world" is real and unreal as well? It's real in "secondary" (I forget the exact terminology) reality (Maya); but unreal in terms of primary reality where the only reality is Brahman, suggesting that Maya has key role to play in the self realization of Brahman..
    In regards to what was said about using the the intellect to go beyond knowledge gained from intuitive meditation, doesn't AV regards the path of knowledge to be the only path in which enlightenment can be obtained without the use of the other 3 paths of AV? Those paths bend Karma, Devotion and Yoga?
    I'd argue that it's more a question of "what" we are than "who".

    To me brahmin is in everything it's literally God's energy.the atman is the same as brahmin except it's going through circles of samsara or reincarnation for spiritual evolution through stages of involution and evolution.yea we all are a part of the same source.but as a fire has sparks it's technically still the fire but it's its own unique part going along it's own path.the soul is a spark of the godhead.i truly believe there are stages of existence stages of conciousness.the lower you go like the physical world.we lose temporary most of are concesness this why we don't remember past lives or anything about the real you the soul.we go to these other places or states of concesness in sleep but don't often carryover anything that had happened. while we were there.just like my momma I've lost her she passed away a year ago but I can often tell I had just previously been with her during rest or sleep.ill get up wake up for whatever reason.and she well pop into my head when I Cleary was not trying too think of her.the soul is imprisoned only during waking hours.this why most time's spirits don't feel the need to come to you after death.them you well be back in a flash.the soul knows the personality you are now does not.spirits there for well only come to the living.if theres a need if for whatever reason the personality you are now needs the help it's odd because the soul does see them it's just who you are now sometimes that needs the help.

    The Brihadaranyaka Upanishad describes Atman as
    That Atman (pure, undifferentiated, self-shining consciousness) is indeed Brahman(ultimate reality of the universe). It is also identified with the intellect, the Manas (mind), and the vital breath, with the eyes and ears, with earth, water, air, and akasha (sky), with fire and with what is other than fire, with desire and the absence of desire, with anger and the absence of anger, with righteousness and unrighteousness, with everything - it is identified, as is well known, with this (what is perceived) and with that (what is inferred). As it does and acts, so it becomes: by doing good it becomes good, and by doing evil it becomes evil. It becomes virtuous through good acts, and vicious through evil acts. Others, however, say, "The self is identified with desire alone. What it desires, so it resolves; what it resolves, so is its deed; and what deed it does, so it reaps."
