I had a neighbor, Master Mercedes’ and AMG Certified tech of 36 yrs in 2015 tell us that the best post 2000 MY engine from a reliability standpoint was the 2002-2008 5.4 liter 55k aka “m113k”… the standard m113 was also very good. The 6.2 litre NA AMG 63 engines were weak. He said he spent 70% of his work week working on AMG’s with a 63 badge on them, prior to the newer twin turbo 5.5 litre motors. Ironically the 2012.5 to 2017 5.5 twin turns were the best vs the 2018 to present versions, which are going down to a 4.0 litre and soon a pathetic V6. Sad times really. From a climate and environmental perspective, even if we eliminated 100% of carbon emissions (fyi: humans, animals and plants need carbon & nitrogen to live), by 2025, the benefits of that would not show up for at least 1100-1400 yrs from now. Humans will be gone by 2150 except the elites and their 50-100 million slaves . I will bet on it. Net zero carbon emissions is a wild and impossible dream of a select handful of billionaires that propagate the lies. Problem is, they created the problems, fuel the fires of chaos, then step up like they’re supposed to be good guys and present the solution. It’s about as evil as can get.
Let's see the Canyon Drive by Pops! Smoking Tyre style. I've got a 2003 SL55 AMG as well with the VRP 76mm supercharger pulley and XL cooling upgrade. Badass machine! Installed and Tuned by Eurocharged... Congrats on your build and wild wrap, really makes the car pop because a lot of people have no idea what a monster it actually is in Silver. Ultimate sleeper
What's on the top of the lift? I see what looks like Cromodora CD99's, is it a FIAT or an Alfa, or?? SL55 can theoratically do between 203-208MPH delimited STOCK. The engineersin Germany got 202 out of it but as wea know it's regulated to 155 or 186 depending on MY. (driven by tire rating)
Hey nice job guys Got over 2 years on my sl55 vrp mods also With the killer chiller on also Does your AC ever need reset after hard runs ? Think its due to heat the safety sensor will shut down AC system. Thx Jeff
Hey Jeff! We haven’t experienced any issues with AC/killer chiller shutting down or resetting while doing back to back runs. We did some roll racing about a month ago and had 0 issues with the cooling. We run it at max cold and full blast when doing runs.
I really like the wing a lot, in my opinion the shape of the sl55 literally screams to have rear wing! Is this color a wrap or regular spray paint or kind of a plasti dip?
@@TMWYT The true value of having a dyno tune is relevant in this video. Kudos for the great explanation during the process of baseline to map 1 and 2, it's very helpful to the M113K community to understand how you achieved the results. I myself have a off the shelve Race IQ tune on my S55 - but after watching this video, I'm now contemplating to pull the trigger on a dyno tune. Unfortunately I'm in Los Angeles, but I will reach out to your tuner in Utah and see if he has a recommendations in my area. Thanks for sharing the info!

@TMWYT you and dad mentioned about silvers neomax coilovers. Whats your dampening settings like? And did you roll front fenders? Super hard to roll front fenders 😩. Anytips on how to roll the front?
thanx for the dyno vids. my take. the SL55K should be rear turbo mount converted. its just gagging for it. the blower has 2 major dips in all of the tunes. why rear turbo mounted. cooling the air down, the turbo runs cooler, oil temps lower, engine bay cooler and reduced heatsoak issues the the amg kompressor engines have. great low down torque but now turbo lag has many solutions. youtuber @stav-tech and some others have shown rear mounted on m113k engine with better results. i get the blowers but heat problems and increasing the crank pulley spins every pulley faster (water pump, alternators and idler pulleys). high harmonic vibration issues? single turbo would be simpler/ thanx for the vids again
The crank pulley really changes the car my cls 55 is at 550 whp rn and it handles that power reliabily . But an lsd will be maditory to put that power down I recommend quaffs or wave trac
You shouldn't say pops to your father if my 33 year old son said that to me he would still get a back hand. That's a 58 year old me just having a little word in your ear ..I am a big fan of the Mercedes SL55 Amg I have had 2 off them and gunning for my 3rd one for the strip in Cornwall U.k ..Keep the videos going ..Son 😅 otherwise your second dad might pop over from the pond to wash your mouth out 😂 ❤
Gotta teach dad that the proper terminology is “lb-ft” of torque, not the so common stated ft-lbs. There is a difference, one can be put into the other, but not the reverse. Pounds (weight) can be put into a a foot of distance or sqft, but you can’t put a form of measurement > (foot or inch), into weight. There is math/science behind it. Nice power numbers (about 600 crank hp/740 tq), but sadly these things are 4400 lbs and you’ll have enough to keep pace in the 1/4 mi now with newer 2020-2022 mustang 5.0 or Camaro LT1/SS, C7/C8 vetted. All of which run in 114-117 mph trap speeds. Heck, with some sticky tires the SL might be able to run mid 3’s in the 65+ yrs old 0-60 test. That’s about what most C8 drivers get that aren’t in that top 8% of drivers that know how to put the power to use. Heck most new GT500’s with 760 hp/4200 lbs can’t run to 60 mph in under. 4.3 sec and the Hellcats can’t do it under 4.8 sec on street tires. I was just reading a car&driver and motor trend article and in 2003/4 the quickest Benz prior to the AMG 65’s and the SLR was the little SLK32 little bro that started the SL Kompressor revolution. I would think your 55 should be capable of a nice mid 11 sec 1/4 at around 120-123 mph. That should be more than enough to dust stock hellcats, zl1’s, C7Z0’s etc. as they heat soak badly like the SL does stock. Incidentally the Hellcat engines and all 2001 to present Dodge/Chrysler V8’s are NOT real HEMI’s, plus the Hellcats & 1 yr only Demon inherited the supercharger from the 55K motor line.
Nothing is being put into something else. It's just multiplication (moment arm x force, or vice versa) , so it doesn't matter which order you write the units in; one or the other is not wrong, technically speaking. It's merely convention that engine torque is usually written these days at lb-ft, and fastener specs are written at ft-lb. They're both torque specs and mean the same thing.
We are enjoying the car for right now, maybe down the line we will do an even smaller pulley. And if that doesn’t satisfy the “itch” maybe a bigger supercharger altogether!
I would be embarrassed as a tuner to have this video out. 10 full pulls to get 30 something hp. 3 full pulls before making one revision. There is something wrong with your tq numbers. The wavy tq graph clearly shows that. There is so many things you are overlooking and dont know. If you posted any of this on a FB page of forum you would be the joke of so many conversations.

M113k is the best AMG motor from the factory
I enjoy the journey with you guys keep up the great job I’m retired too I have 2004 amg also enjoy the ride
That’s awesome! Thanks for the support!
Stop trying to take pops shine ✨ wait your turn and enjoy the free ride
Gotta love those m113k torque numbers though definitely glad to see this thing back up and running after the blown motor. Congrats guys!
You should consider a wapple supercharger, those make more power efficiently
Lol
Impressive numbers. Perfect mods. The cooling system is super creative and those lower intake temps really must help you make that serious power.
E85 would be a game changer once you get used to this power level

Yes! We were super surprised with the TQ numbers it was a big win!🔥 Tuner is Richard Gibby at EF1 Tuning in Utah County (Richard@EF1Tuning.com)

Will do! Thanks man
Been waiting for this!!!!
FINALLY!🤣
Did you have it in "dyno mode"?
torque monster
Hang on I thought you said all the bolt on stuff would get you 700 crank horse power??
520 at the axle is way short or am I missing something?!!
Right 700 ft lbs of TQ to the rear wheels has been quite enough for us, loving it, might shoot for more down the road.
Green on black is wicked. Have you considered the GT3 rectangular style wing end plates?
Yes we would love to do a gt3 style wing and end plates eventually!
Love the video Thos! Thanks 😊
Of course pops, congrats on the big numbers!!
What’s your elevation for these runs? Bring it to CO so we can get some friendly runs in!
We are in Salt Lake City at 4250 feet elevation. The canyons we love to run rise to 8500 feet.

I’d go to a pro to get them rolled, we have all dampening set in the middle

What are your Crank and supercharger pulley sizes? Thanks
Cooling mods?
Cooling mods: a Killer Chiller freon to water intercooler chiller. I have intake temps in the 50's when ambient air temp is 90's.
